The undisputed leader of the 2nd wave of Gothic Doom Metal, DRACONIAN, is finally back – and they return in better shape than ever! Their new studio album, In Somnolent Ruin, will creep its way from the artist’s spirit into the light of day on May 8, 2026 via Napalm Records. This promises to be one of the most personal records in the band’s discography, revealed through a dream-like journey across nine tracks and the poetic lyricism of vocalist Anders Jacobsson. The new album also marks the return of long-time vocalist Lisa Johansson – the band’s vocalist for their first five records.
First Single is “Cold Heavens”, which is about finding no comfort in Heaven as there is no difference between being alive or dead.
Johan Ericson about the new single: “In need of a more up-tempo song, “Cold Heavens” was the final piece written for In Somnolent Ruin. The intention was to create a simple, straightforward track to balance the album’s longer compositions and add versatility. Lisa’s laid-back vocals take center stage, guiding us through a bleak, cold landscape before giving way to Anders’ more spiteful and desperate delivery. The song ends with a sense of resignation, leading into the album’s next track.”
In Somnolent Ruin Tracklist: 1. I Welcome Thy Arrow 2. The Monochrome Blade 3. Anima (feat. Daniel Änghede) 4. The Face of God 5. I Gave You Wings 6. Asteria Beneath the Tranquil Sea 7. Cold Heavens 8. Misanthrope River 9. Lethe
Six years have passed since the band released its predecessor, Under a Godless Veil, DRACONIAN’s most successful record to date. Much has changed since then, yet everything feels familiar: After introducing new guitarist Niklas Nord (Myteri, DeathTrap, The Random Victims) in spring 2022, the band announced the return of vocalist Lisa Johansson, who now once again shares vocal duties with Anders Jacobsson, promising even more enigmatic music to come. Johansson had been the band’s vocalist for their first five records before leaving DRACONIAN in 2011 for personal reasons. In Somnolent Ruin marks her official comeback, following several live performances at festivals over the past years. The band’s renewed lineup is rounded out by Daniel Johansson (Antikult, ex-Wormwood), who joined DRACONIAN as a full member in 2025 following Jerry Torstennson’s departure. Prior to that, Johansson had served as the band’s session drummer since 2019. It’s the first album on which longtime member Daniel Arvidsson can be heard on bass, to which he switched from guitar in 2022.
In Somnolent Ruin captures the essence of a band that no longer needs to prove anything – and yet still does. Active since the mid-1990s and having released their debut album, Where Lovers Mourn, in 2003, DRACONIAN have continuously demonstrated their unmatched ability to craft otherworldly doom melodies and searing heavy instrumentation, complemented by lyrics that read like poetry. Their art cuts deep, compelling listeners to confront their inner demons, wander through the darkest shadows, and even embrace emotional numbness, only to emerge with a sense of inner peace. This album confronts listeners with life’s hardest questions, exploring feelings of alienation and the search for direction in unfamiliar territory.
In Somnolent Ruin’s journey begins with “I Welcome Thy Arrow”, which captivates from the very first seconds through haunting melodies and a vocal interplay that embodies fragility and strength alike. Tracks such as “The Monochrome Blade” and “The Face of God” introduce increased tempo and eruptive vocal dynamics. “Anima” features Swedish artist Daniel Änghede, adding layers of emotional depth and confronting listeners with their darker impulses, capturing the sense of being lost and questioning one’s place in the world. “Asteria Beneath the Tranquil Sea” serves as a transitional interlude between “I Gave You Wings” and “Cold Heavens”, the latter exploring the delicate balance between life and death and not finding relief in any of both, while delivering the album’s most intense vocal performance. “Misanthrope River” opens with an extended instrumental passage and narration by Simon Bibby, slowing the tempo but by no means reducing the emotional weight, reflecting life’s daily struggles and obstacles. The closing track, “Lethe”, references the river of forgetfulness in Greek mythology. Those who drank from it would lose all memory. “Oh, shooting star… Drown in me! Drink. Forget. Repeat.” mourns Jacobsson through devilish growls. And yet, In Somnolent Ruin remains a work of art one wishes not to forget – not a single blink of an eye.

Since being born into Switzerland’s underground in 1996, Impure Wilhelmina have followed their own singular path. The Geneva quartet have combined hardcore riffs, atmospheric sludge and gloomy melodies into alternative rock that’s as sharp and versatile as a Swiss Army Knife. Now, after three decades of evolution, the band are releasing their most radical yet organic album to date.
Today, Impure Wilhelmina are announcing their sixth full-length album, Le sanglot, which is also the band’s first that’s entirely in French. Its lead single introduces the album’s emotional and conceptual core. “Électricité noire” is both a crackling ode to rock music and an enduring meditation on its cathartic force.
Within the broader narrative of Le sanglot, “Électricité noire” occupies a crucial position. Conceived as the sonic equivalent of a sob, the album observes the world through a stark lens, confronting ugliness, mediocrity and quiet violence. Yet the opening movement carried by its lead single also hints at the possibility of grace, establishing the fragile tension between darkness and light.
Opening with a massive and haunting arpeggio, “Électricité noire” gradually unfolds into a surge of raw energy. A solitary voice emerges within the song as a reminder that rock itself is a form of dark electricity. Through performance and expression, sorrow is allowed to speak. In a world that appears fractured and unstable, the song frames music as a necessary outlet for anger, grief and disillusionment.
Accompanying “Électricité noire” is a music video directed by Steven Blatter (Prog-Pics). Filmed with Impure Wilhelmina playing in a stripped and direct setting, the music video reflects the song’s focus on the raw force of music.
Born from Geneva, Switzerland’s thriving alternative music scene, IMPURE WILHELMINA has been developing a truly unique blend of sound over the years, somewhere in between metal and progressive-tinged dark rock. The band’s distinctive style is dense, melodic and deeply melancholic, brought to life by introspective lyrics both profoundly humane and chilling, infused with raw emotion.
Impure Wilhelmina was founded in 1996 and made a name for itself in the early 2000s, with a series of iconic albums – I Can’t Believe I was Born in July (2003) and L’amour, la mort, l’enfance perdue (2005) along with several European tours. Little by little, the quartet led by guitarist and vocalist Michael Schindl won over the hearts of a now loyal fan base, who appreciate how the band turns dark themes into a universe of healing sound.
Impure Wilhelmina’s story is also one of perpetual renewal. The band’s sound has evolved from its gritty beginnings to more mature, melodic productions driven by clear magnetic vocals. Black Honey (2014), Radiation (2017) and Antidote (2021), widely appraised by critics, pushed horizons further yet for the band, signed to the label Season of Mist since 2015.
Throughout the years, Impure Wilhelmina has played hundreds of shows across Europe, performing at underground venues and large festivals alike, including opening for icons such as Gojira, Baroness, Amenra, Sólstafir and Crippled Black Phoenix.
Since 2023, the band has been working on its next album to follow Antidote. The process is enriched by the arrival of new guitarist Edouard Nicod, joining Sébastien Dutruel (bass), Mario Togni (drums) and Michael Schindl (guitar and vocals). Their new album entitled Le sanglot, set to be released by Season of Mist in 2026, will showcase the band’s next radical yet organically logical transformation: lyrics entirely in French, unleashing dimensions of sound you wouldn’t expect, with renewed creative energy.

Scotland’s ibex-obsessed blackened thrash bastard of Hades, otherwise known as HELLRIPPER, is now delivering yet another crushing blow from his forthcoming opus! The ominous new single, “Mortercheyn,” can be found along with a sunning music video that was video produced, directed and edited by David Gregory at THIS LOCATION.
“Mortercheyn” is taken from HELLRIPPER’s upcoming fourth studio album, ‘Coronach,’ which will be released worldwide on March 27, 2026 via Century Media Records, making it his debut to the label! ‘Coronach’ can be pre-ordered HERE.
Hellripper mastermind, guitarist/vocalist and songwriter James McBain comments, “Much like the previously released ‘Kinchyle (Goatkraft and Granite),’ the lyrics on this track come from a more personal place. The title itself is a little nod to a track on the previous album, ‘The Nuckelavee,’ and mortercheyn is said to be the disease spread by the creature in its wake. It is a contagious and lethal sickness that primarily affects horses, and is used in the song to represent the decay and downfall of the world.
“Musically, ‘Mortercheyn’ is a crust track at its core, drenched in a sinister atmosphere that lies between the black metal vibe of Watain and the raw aggression of bands like Martyrdöd and Skitsystem. Hints of Whiplash and Agent Steel are clearly evident in the guitar work and are paired with some uncomfortable ambience inspired by the likes of Aphex Twin and Venetian Snares. On the surface, it may feel like one of the less ‘complex’ songs on the album, but I think there’s quite a lot going on throughout”.
In addition, Hellripper has recently announced a string of support shows for thrash metal legend Testament in Spain and France. In addition, Hellripper will next embark on European headline tour alongside Schizophrenia and Sarcator to promote ‘Coronach’ and has also revealed a number of festival appearances and two performances in Mexico. The full itinerary can be found below while tickets can be found HERE.

The brainchild of guitarist/vocalist/solitary force, James McBain, Hellripper has been running like a denim-vested, backpatch-encrusted William Wallace, bravehearting his way through metal’s bloodiest battlefields since first coagulating his personal darkness in 2014. Taking armaments from “Kill ‘Em All” era Hetfield and “Welcome to Hell” era Mantas, McBain has immersed his fascination with darkness and speed with Scottish history and come with bloody masterpieces like 2023’s “Warlocks Grim & Withered Hags” that Metal Injection stated: “Bursts with growth and a mature exploration of darkness and eeriness while maintaining that original high-octane burning”. McBain is presently sharpening his blades and casting new spells that will transmogrify into Hellripper’s Century Media debut “Coronach”.

Today, rock icon JOHN CORABI is pleased to unveil his new single “That Memory,” taken from his upcoming debut full-length solo album ‘New Day,’ set for release on April 24, 2026 via Frontiers Music Srl. The new track arrives alongside an official music video, available to view below.
On “That Memory,” JOHN reflects:
“‘That Memory’ is a great tune that my good pal Charlie Starr sent me a rough idea on. I played it for Marti Frederiksen (my producer) and he loved it. We changed the key to fit my voice and recorded it!! It’s a great tune, and without being too emasculated…It’s my wife’s favorite from the record!!!! Thank you Charlie Starr!!!!”
‘New Day’ marks JOHN CORABI’s first full-length solo album of original material. Recorded in Nashville during the summer of 2025 and produced by multi-platinum songwriter and producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Ozzy Osbourne, Buckcherry), the album fuses classic ’70s rock, soul, and blues influences into a sound that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
The record features the previously released singles “Così Bella (So Beautiful)” (2021) and “Your Own Worst Enemy” (2022), now presented as part of a rich collection of tracks that spotlight his commanding vocals, heartfelt lyrics, and masterful songwriting. Throughout the album, CORABI is joined by Marti Frederiksen, who adds backing vocals, guitars, piano, and percussion; Evan Frederiksen on drums, bass, B3 organ, electric guitar, mandolin, and programming; Richard Fortus (Guns N’ Roses) on lead guitar; Paul Taylor (Winger, Steve Perry) contributing piano, organ, and clavinet, as well as Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) offering guitar solos. Together, they create an organic, instrument-driven sound built on real performances, melodic interplay, and soulful energy.
With a European tour planned for February/March 2026 and additional shows running through late spring and summer, CORABI is poised to bring this new music directly to fans, delivering both powerful live energy and genuine emotional resonance.
More than just a solo debut, ‘New Day’ serves as CORABI’s personal testament to rock’s enduring spirit—an exploration of melody, soul, and authenticity, played with passion and conviction at every turn.
JOHN shares:
“I’m very excited for everybody to hear this new collection of songs! I wanted to put together an album of eclectic, organic songs that are reminiscent of the music I grew up listening to, and I truly believe the mission was accomplished! This is a 60’s-70’s sounding classic rock and roll record…Turn it up, and enjoy!!!”
