WEDNESDAY 13 Drop Ghoulish Music Video for New Single ‘In Misery’

Currently hitting venues across North America on his “There’s No Such Thing As Monsters” tour celebrating 20 years of Transylvania 90210, world-renowned fearsome frontman WEDNESDAY 13 returns with the second single cut from his new full-length album, Mid Death Crisis, set to drop on April 25, 2025 via Napalm Records.

Following acclaimed, ultra-catchy latest single “When The Devil Commands”, brand new second single “In Misery” is a spooky rager, scratching the itch of both goth-punk and sleaze metal while deftly ebbing and flowing amid heavy genre influences and an earworm hook!

WEDNESDAY 13 comments about “In Misery”:
“There are too many love songs out there about people confessing their love to one another. I wanted to do the exact opposite, and confess the misery of being in a bad relationship. Hopelessly, madly in misery with someone. I see it every day, people miserable together. I see it almost as much as I see people happily together. Some people enjoy misery, and this song is about enjoying that misery as much as someone in Love.”

After returning in 2022 with his widely-acclaimed full-length album Horrifier (#8 US Top New Artist Albums), as well as several major tours supporting his solo work and celebrated Murderdolls reunion shows, the Duke of Spook is back with Mid Death Crisis! WEDNESDAY 13 dubs the album as a fun, campy, “leave-your-brain-at-the-door” rager and a true return to his hard-rocking roots! Produced by guitarist Alex Kane (Life, Sex & Death, Enuff Z’Nuff, Antiproduct) and mixed by Steve Evetts (The Dillinger Escape Plan, Prong, DevilDriver) the album oozes infectious 80s sleaze metal energy.

Eerie introductory track “There’s No Such Thing As Monsters” vibrates with electricity before industrial-tinged “Decease and Desist” kicks in full blast. WEDNESDAY 13’s trademark crooning wastes no time entering the fold as he careens through the high-octane horror anthem. First single “When the Devil Commands” instantly proves itself as a stunner with an unforgettable hook, charging arena rock-laden drum production and chugging guitars, before tracks like “Rotting Away” and “Blood Storm” ensnare with metallic goth-punk energy that will have crowds moving wall to wall. Featuring Faster Pussycat’s Taime Downe on guest vocals, standout heavy rocker “No Apologies” is a fast-romping exorcism of toxic demons, while the triumphant mini-murder ballad “Decapitation” riles up listeners with a catchy lead riff before making a hard left into a theatrical bridge straight out of a sinister 60s sock hop! Ragers like “In Misery”, “Xanaxtasy” and “Sick and Violent” explore various genres of metal, injecting the album with elements of gripping heaviness for any listener, while downtempo stunners “I Hurt You” and “My Funeral” approach a more pensive territory.

Although its title, Mid Death Crisis, may suggest otherwise, WEDNESDAY 13 shows zero signs of stopping on this refreshingly powerful and multi-faceted entry into the band’s hall of horrific history!

VULVARINE Unveil New Single ‘Equal, Not the Same’

Transporting the listener back to the hottest era in hard rock history, Austrian hard rock powerhouse VULVARINE deliver a fierce statement with their explosive opening track “Equal, Not the Same”, taken from their upcoming album, Fast Lane, out this Friday, March 28, 2025 via Napalm Records!

VULVARINE are primed to drop jaws around the world! Fueled by sharp-edged riffs and relentless energy, “Equal, Not the Same” captures the frustration of being unheard and the fierce determination to stand tall. With its raw intensity and confrontational spirit, the third single is accompanied by a pulse-pumping official music video and offers another taste of an album that refuses to back down.

VULVARINE recently spread their signature rock’n’roll sound in cities across Europe on the second leg of Thundermother’s Dirty & Divine tour, also featuring Napalm Records label mates Cobra Spell.

VULVARINE on their new single “Equal, Not the Same”:
“‘Equal, Not the Same’ is a powerful anthem for gender equality, emphasizing that equality doesn’t mean erasing individuality. The song confronts the frustration of women standing up to dominance and being silenced under the guise of care. It’s a bold reminder to respect boundaries and celebrate differences.”

Influenced by bands such as Girlschool, The Runaways and The Donnas, VULVARINE defines their own sound as “vulvarock”: a unique fusion of high energy rock’n’roll, heavy metal and glam, topped up with punk and blues elements. Following their debut album, Unleashed (2020), and 2023’s Witches Brew EP, on Fast Lane, VULVARINE head full speed into a new adventure filled with adrenaline and authenticity.

VULVARINE on the new album:
“Fast Lane captures the whirlwind of creativity and energy that has driven us as a band. The album came together in an intense but exciting process, where we pushed our limits, worked with incredible people, and poured everything we had into the music. Signing with Napalm Records is a huge milestone, and we’re ready to hit the fast lane and dive headfirst into this new adventure.”

Pre-Order your copy of Fast Lane NOW

While remaining uncompromising and real, VULVARINE impresses with a variety of soundscapes on Fast Lane. The explosive opening track “The Drugs, the Love and the Pain” sets the scene for the rest of the album: rebellious, action-packed, raw, punky – and irresistibly catchy. “Ancient Soul” shows the softer side of VULVARINE while “Demons” dives into darker waters. VULVARINE’s strong rhythm section shines especially bright on “Alright Tonight”, and “Equal, Not the Same” is particularly refreshing and empowering. “Fool”, co-written with German producer Felix Heldt (Dominum, Feuerschwanz, Visions Of Atlantis), surprises with a different tone while remaining true to the sound and spirit of the band. “Polly the Trucker” is an ode to the highway, a classic rock’n’roll anthem with a modern touch, featuring raspy vocals and incredible guitars. VULVARINE brings in yet another highlight with an electrifying cover of Modern Talking’s “Cheri Cheri Lady”, featuring a powerful guitar solo from Thundermother’s Filippa Nässil, before wrapping the album up with pensive track “She’ll Come Around”.

On Fast Lane, VULVARINE soars to the next level with both songwriting and high-quality production without losing their edge. The album was produced in Vienna and Wiener Neustadt as a collaboration of three different producers: Thomas Zwanzger of Stressstudio, Dietmar Baumgartner of Sonar Music Productions and Engel Mayr (formerly of Russkaja) of Studio Mäusepalast, resulting in a cohesive work and VULVARINE’s strongest album yet. Fast Lane is a multifaceted and honest high-octane rock’n’roll extravaganza with no filler: the 11-track offering is packed with the very best of one of the most promising bands in the scene.

Fast Lane tracklisting:
1. The Drugs, the Love and the Pain
2. Ancient Soul
3. Heads Held High
4. Demons

NIGHTSTEEL Unleash Video for ‘Warlord’s Betrayal’ from Upcoming Debut Album

Greek heavy metallers NIGHTSTEEL are back with their blistering new single, “Warlord’s Betrayal”, that is sure to captivate fans of the band and many others! This crushing masterpiece features the band’s signature heavy riffing, thunderous drumming and the breathtaking vocals of Travis Wills (Crimson Glory), putting NIGHTSTEEL on the map as one of the new hot names in the heavy metal scene.

“Warlord’s Betrayal” is more than just a song – it’s the climactic continuation of the saga that began with NIGHTSTEEL’s self-titled debut single. Picking up where the first chapter left off, this tense and powerful track closes the curtain on the epic battles that have defined the band’s story-driven sound. Accompanied by a stunning lyric video, the single brings the narrative to life with intense, cinematic war-torn scenes that amplify the song’s raw energy and emotional depth.

“We wanted to take our fans deeper into the world we started building with our debut single”, says Bill. “‘Warlord’s Betrayal’ is the payoff – an unrelenting, betrayal-fueled finale that ties the story together while hitting harder than ever. This is the second song I wrote after ‘Nightsteel’, and Travis delivered the vocals exactly as I imagined. I wanted the song to have the perfect mix of power and emotion. It’s in a way related to the self-titled song, and that’s why the video is like a continuation of it. If you fancy the homonymous song, you’re gonna dig this one as well”.

“‘Warlord’s Betrayal’ is a great song, up tempo and in your face… definitely a song to get a speeding ticket with… great melodies and hooks, I hope you love it as much as I do”!, comments Travis Wills.

Guitarist Jasmin elaborates:

“Bill is a real perfectionist – nothing is finished until every detail is just right. I even reached a point where, even in my sleep, I saw myself shredding! This song is one of my favorites on the album, and I’m really proud of everything we achieved”.

Drummer Mike notes:

“Had a blast laying down the drums for this beast of a song. Shoutout to my buddy Bill for crafting this masterpiece and to Travis for crushing the vocals. Metalheads, this one’s for you”!

Fans of NIGHTSTEEL’s debut will recognize the seamless blend of musical ferocity and storytelling prowess, while newcomers will be drawn in by the sheer power of this heavy metal anthem. Available now, “Warlord’s Betrayal” invites listeners to hit play and experience the climactic end of this unforgettable metal odyssey.

About NIGHTSTEEL:

Nightsteel is a brand-new Greek metal band that embodies the spirit of classic 80s metal, reviving the magic of the genre in a very special way. Their music will take you back to the old glory days of the 80’s when heavy metal music was on top of the game!

It all started back in 2022 with an idea that songwriter & bassist Bill Sam had and that is how Nightsteel was born. While working on some old demo songs along with new ones, he asked his friend and drummer Mike Foudotos to join the band and take the project to the next level.

After working with some local vocalists, Bill decided to go a step further and work with some of the most notable and up-and-coming vocalists in the metal scene. He first contacted Travis Wills (Crimson Glory, Infidel Rising), who was blown away by the songs and agreed to sing on the album. Unfortunately, due to Travis’ busy recording and touring schedule, he wasn’t able to finish all of the songs, so Bill also enlisted Craig Cairns (Tailgunner, ex Induction), Rob Lundgren (Reveal, Mystery Moon), and Mauro Elias to sing on the remaining songs. In addition, the virtuoso guitar player Igor Paspalj (Guitarist of the Year 2020 by Guitar World and Guitar Player magazines), agreed to play solos on two songs. The line-up was completed with Jasmin M. on guitars and keys.

SOWULO Revives ‘Yule’ + ‘Ginnungagap’ Classic Tracks

Posted by tarjavirmakari on March 27, 2025

The re-imagined singles Yule (Revisited) & Ginnungagap (Revisited) highlight the mythic and cyclical themes at the core of Sowulo’s body of work. Both tracks offer a renewed interpretation of the project’s foundational sound.

Rooted in Norse mythology and Anglo-Saxon mysticism, Sowulo is led by multi-instrumentalist and composer Faber Horbach, whose compositions function as both ritual and meditation. These new versions reflect the evolution of Sowulo’s musical direction, shaped by the current live lineup and an ongoing exploration of cyclical spirituality.

Yule (Revisited)
Originally written in 2012, Yule was the first composition created for Sowulo. It captures the spirit of Midwinter—where darkness will give way to light, and endings carry the seeds of new beginnings. The track serves as a ritualistic moment of stillness and reflection within the live set.

“This was the very first song I ever wrote for Sowulo, composed sometime in 2012 on the piano for the ‘Alvenrad’ album.” Faber explains.

“The song was born from my own yearning to create music for celebrating the turning of the seasons, to accompany the pagan feasts that honour the eternal cycle of nature.”

Ginnungagap (Revisited)
Inspired by Norse cosmology, Ginnungagap evokes the primordial void from which existence emerged. First composed for the sophomore ‘SOL’ album in 2016, the revisited version enhances the original’s focus on balance—between chaos and form, emptiness and life. It remains a central expression of Sowulo’s mythic and spiritual foundation.

“Originally composed around 2014 on piano, I then reworked the parts to suit the Celtic harp and Irish bouzouki.” Faber mentions.

“From there, we added viola, Irish whistle, vocals, and percussion. The song expresses the concept of the universe’s origin, as told in ancient Scandinavian mythology.”

Featuring historical instruments, ancient languages, and a thematic focus on nature’s cycles, SOWULO’s work continues to explore immersive soundscapes grounded in ancestral tradition. These revisited tracks function not merely as reinterpretations, but as sonic rebirths of the project as it is ushered into a new era. As new material from SOWULO begins to take shape, these two revisited compositions offer a timely reflection on the project’s origins—and a glimpse of what lies ahead.

The revisited versions of “Yule” and “Ginnungagap” will be performed live for the first time during SOWULO’s upcoming tour across Europe:
April 30: Nijmegen, NL @ Doornroosje
May 1: Stuttgart, DE @ Im Wizemann
May 2: Rillieux-la-Pape, FR @ Ô Totem Live
May 3: Bruguières, FR @ Festival Echos et Merveilles*
May 4: Paris, FR @ Petit Bain

Music Artist:
Faber Horbach – Vocals, Nyckelharpa, Irish Bouzouki, Lyre, Taglharpa, Percussion, Carnyx

SOWULO is the work of multi-instrumentalist and composer Faber Horbach, and is inspired by Anglo-Saxon and Viking-age mysticism and philosophy. Captivated by the cyclical nature of existence and an animistic worldview, Faber is determined to express his spiritual path through his music.

With lyrics in Anglo-Saxon and historical instruments, Sowulo creates an immersive sonic universe that challenges both the creator and listener to go on an inner journey and to invoke cyclical wisdom from deep within.

Sowulo means ‘Sun’ in proto-germanic. The music follows our connection with the Sun and tells the story of our inner and outer cycles of day and night, the four seasons, birth and death.

Forged in Edinburgh in 2013 by Frenchman Victor Vicart and native Scot Dudley Tait, DVNE have been building a powerful head of steam since their second album, 2021’s kaleidoscopically mesmerizing Etemen Ænka, their first release for the legendary Metal Blade Records label, and a concerted hike up the greasy pole for this enigmatic outfit. The record ultimately enabled DVNE to embark on UK and European headlining tours and win spots at such discerning festivals as Hellfest, ArcTanGent, Desertfest, Damnation, and Resurrection. A live EP of reimagined album tunes, 2022’s Cycles Of Asphodel, kept up their profile while satiating demand from a rapidly mushrooming fanbase, and now in 2024, stunning third album Voidkind looks set to propel this expanded five-piece line-up (welcoming Maxime Keller on keyboards) to the top of their game.

The songs on Voidkind are more pointed, direct, and memorable, yet the soundscapes retain the radiant, evolving, and hypnotic flow, the effect achieved with fewer layers of sonic ornamentation, consciously urging closer to DVNE‘s incendiary live sound. Thematically, Voidkind carries on with the band’s narrative which traces a religious group through the generation line from the beginning to its end while the record’s stunning artwork depicts the main motif of this chapter, namely, “a godlike entity seducing and luring followers through their dreams and these followers’ multigenerational journey to reach their god dimension.”

Stream DVNE‘s Voidkind HERE.

Watch DVNE‘s previously released video for “Plerõma” at THIS LOCATION.

Voidkind was recorded between September and November 2023 in Edinburgh at Craigiehall Temple and Byres Farm in Scotland and features the stunning artwork of Felix Abel Klaer.

Voidkind is currently available on CD and digital formats as well as 2xLP.
