Iceland’s Sátan Metal Festival 2026 Announces Next Wave of Bands; Aborted, Cadaver, Stripshow + More

Sátan, an emerging metal festival in Iceland, is now pleased to reveal the next wave of bands for 2026 and is now welcoming Icelandic heavy metallers STRIPSHOW, who will be performing their first show in 30 years, as well as Belgian death metal icons ABORTED, Norwegian old school death metal legends CADAVER, Icelandic power metal outfit POWER PALADIN, Icelandic thrashers BOOTLEGS, Iceland black metal brigade NEXION, Polish grindcore band KOOKAVEEN, and the winners of the upcoming 2026 Iceland Wacken Metal, which is currently TBA!

The third edition of the festival will take place in Stykkishólmur on the Snæfellsnes peninsula from June 4-6, 2026!

The recent 2025 edition was a massive success, integrating an array of alternative genres from hardcore to extreme while showcasing some of the best that Iceland has to offer alongside international legacy acts. Sátan is a three day metal festival happening in Stykkishólmur on the Snæfellsnes peninsula. The festival focuses on offering a variety of Iceland’s best metalbands as well as a carefully curated selection of international bands.

The organization behind Sátan consists of metalheads and musicians that have been active in the Icelandic scene for up to 30 years and have extensive experience of organizing music festivals and concerts as well as general band related activities.

Everyone is welcome at Sátan regardless of origin, skincolor, religion, gender or sexual orientation and there is only one goal: that everyone, staff, bands and guests, go home smiling after a great festival!

ONE OF NINE Journey Through Beleriand on Epic New Single ‘Quest of the Silmaril’

From the shadowed vales of Brethil, ONE OF NINE traverses through Beleriand with an epic new lament, “Quest of the Silmaril.” Listen to the bards play their tune HERE.

The song a glimpse into their forthcoming epic, ‘Dawn of the Iron Shadow,’ to be released on October 31 through Profound Lore Records.

One of Nine says, “Another page from the Book of the Iron Shadow is unfurled.

“The tale of Lúthien the witch and her thrall Beren, of their willful misdeeds, their callow plotting, their promised demise. For in setting against the absolute dominion of Angband, they received nought but a stray ember from our Lord’s radiant pyre, and were everafter hunted and driven to the shores of mortal ruin.

“The tale of the Silmaril’s Quest is one of grave admonition, that none may offend the might of Melkor.”

The cover artwork (below) was carefully wrought by the hand of Ted Nasmith, a craftsman of no small renown who is the illustrator of J. R. R. Tolkien‘s works ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ ‘Unfinished Tales,’ and ‘The Silmarillion.’

They are as crawling thunder before the Iron Shadow, Warlords and Heralds of the Hungering King.

A piercing chorus of rusted shrieking, a cloying dread of which none can find refuge, they carry not banners but the grim auspices of Doom.

STONE TEMPLE PILOTS’ Guitarist DEAN DELEO & UK Vocalist PETE SHOULDER to Release “One More Satellite” Vinyl/CD Worldwide + Announce Live Shows

Dean DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots and Trip The Witch, along with vocalist Pete Shoulder, released their latest collaboration, One More Satellite digitally July 18, 2025 via Symphonic. Now they are expanding their distribution with a worldwide release of the Vinyl and CD through Deko Entertainment (ADA/Warner Music Group).

One More Satellite presents a diverse collection of songs. “I was simply sitting on some songs I wanted to record,” says DeLeo. “What started out as an instrumental album, quickly changed soon after Pete and I chatted. He was going to sing on a song or two, then wound up singing on eight of the ten on the record.”

The collaboration with UK-based vocalist and lyricist Pete Shoulder and DeLeo went quite well and voila, through a transatlantic workflow…One More Satellite was born. “I was excited to hear the new music Dean wanted to collaborate on,” says Shoulder. “We’ve worked together in the past and it’s always been an absolute pleasure making music with him. The stuff he comes up with is so interesting, with so many beautiful, unexpected, twists and turns. It’s very inspiring to write to and pushes me into realms that I would never usually think of exploring. I’m very proud of the album we’ve made.”

DeLeo’s son Rocco drums on “Drowning Out The Sun,” “Willow Mae” and “Spit It Out.” Stone Temple Pilots drummer Eric Kretz plays on “Serenade” and Brian Tichy drums the rest. Daughter June DeLeo lends a lovely “aaah”…vocal on “Your Call,” and long-time collaborator, Ryan Williams co-produced and mixed the album.

Traditional metal stalwarts SULPHUR AND MERCURY announce the release of their brand-new single “Summon the Seer”.

Marking the beginning of a new chapter for the band, the track presents a revitalised line-up and a sound that carries their brooding heavy metal vision into fresh territory. The single also features keyboards by Freddy Delirio of Death SS, adding a layer of dark, expansive atmosphere to the composition. “Summon the Seer” is available now on all major digital platforms.

“With the release of ‘Summon the Seer’, we open a new chapter for the band, both musically and creatively. First and foremost, we relocated the band from Italy to Finland last year, when guitarist and main songwriter Francesco Conte joined myself in Helsinki. We further reset things by adding a new, all Finland-based lineup with the addition of Kride Lahti (guitars), Jaakko “Spider” Forsman (drums) and Tami Luukkonen (bass). To me, ‘Summon the Seer’ really captures the energy and spontaneity of the five of us hammering out the song (and even recording it) in our rehearsal room. As time-travellers from 1987… SULPHUR AND MERCURY have arrived.

Born in the Cerverteri Necropolis under the blood moon of the Italian summer solstice, SULPHUR AND MERCURY forge haunted dirges of occultic heavy metal from the fires of its glorious past. Elements of Frostian apocalyptic doom are summoned and collide with the melodic instincts of the NWOBHM, manifesting caustic anthems to the arcane arts.

The group came together in 2021, when guitarist Francesco Conte and vocalist Jason Netherton bonded over their shared affinity for the darker incantations of 1980s heavy metal, along the lines of Mercyful Fate, Celtic Frost, Satan and Sabbat (UK). The pair were later joined by drummer Dario Casabona and bassist Marco Mastrobuono, after which they commenced to songwriting and then recording in 2022. Like soothsayers channelling the spirit of ‘87 (a year pivotal for both Conte and Netherton in their metal edification), the band explicitly invoke the ghosts of metal’s past, in order to hammer it into a distinctly modern vision.

The outcome is the 6 track EP “Alchemia Prophetica”. Featuring 4 original songs and a cover of Satan’s demo-era anthem “Heads Will Roll”, the EP stands as an ode to the glory of heavy metal’s yesteryear in the form of haunting anthems to the unknown and otherworldly.

Following its release, the group relocated to Finland, carrying their arcane craft to new northern frontiers. With vocalist Jason Netherton long established in Helsinki and guitarist Francesco Conte now permanently based there, the band’s line-up has become predominantly Finnish, marking the beginning of a new chapter in its esoteric journey.

ELLEFSON-SOTO Release Music Video for Single ‘SOAB’ + Announce First Show at Whisky A Go-Go

GRAMMY® Award-winning bassist David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth) and acclaimed metal vocalist Jeff Scott Soto have unleashed the official music video for their hard-hitting single “SOAB”, taken from the band’s sophomore album Unbreakable, out now via Rat Pak Records.

“This song represents the savage, raw and punk side of all of us in this band! The same as the world common bond is we sleep, eat and blink our eyes daily, we ALL know and have encountered a true S.O.A.B. in our lifetimes…this is their theme song!” says Soto.

Filmed at Rogue Recording Studios in London (UK), the “SOAB” video was directed by Elia Turra. The video is powerful, loud, and outrageous—made to be cranked at full volume!

In addition, fans will have the chance to watch Ellefson-Soto live for the first time on April 9, 2026, when the band makes their debut performance at the legendary Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood, California. Immediately after, the band will take to the seas as part of the Monsters of Rock Cruise, sailing April 12–16 out of Miami, Florida.

The duo Ellefson-Soto is joined by Italian guitarist Andy Martongelli and Paolo Caridi on drums. Unbreakable features 11 studio tracks with guest appearances from Tim Ripper Owens (KK’s Priest) and Burning Witches front-woman Laura Guldemond.

Recorded at Rogue Studios in Wembley UK, by Alessio Garavello and produced by Chris Collier (Mick Mars, Korn, Flat Black) “Unbreakable” is a sonic assault packed with catchy riffs, melodic vocals, and thoughtful lyrics that blends their classic metal roots with modern rock intensity.

“This album digs even deeper,” says Ellefson. “It’s heavier, more personal, and shaped by everything we’ve experienced on and off the stage.” Soto adds, “The energy we poured into this one—it’s the sound of two lifetimes colliding in riffs, rage, and redemption.”
