Berlin-based instrumental post-metal/doom outfit RÝR has delivered another intense taste of their third full-length album, entitled “Dislodged”, which will be out on April 11 via Moment Of Collapse Records. Following the release of the first single “flung”, the band follows up today with the album’s title track.
Post-metal and doom often lean either into ethereal ambiance or relentless heaviness, but RÝR masterfully bridges the gap. Founded in 2018 by guitarist Marius Jung, the band – now consisting of Jung, bassist Florian Fricke, and drummer Eric Knoop – has always sought to fuse pounding rhythms and intricate riffs with immersive atmospheres. With “Dislodged”, they have fully realized this vision.
From the very first track, “Dislodged” envelops the listener in a swirling storm of sonic textures. Each song builds tension through hypnotic, layered guitar work before exploding into crushing crescendos of distortion and thunderous percussion. The dynamic interplay between the instruments creates an almost cinematic experience, as if the music itself is telling a wordless story of struggle and resilience.
Despite its heaviness, the album is not without moments of fragile beauty. Ethereal melodies weave their way through the dense instrumentation, offering fleeting glimpses of hope before being swallowed by the abyss once more. This delicate balance between despair and catharsis is what sets RÝR apart in the post-metal landscape.
“Dislodged” is an immersive and deeply affecting listen, solidifying RÝR as a standout act in the genre. Fans of Russian Circles, Cult of Luna, and Amenra will find much to appreciate in its masterful blend of atmosphere and aggression. With this album, RÝR has fully refined its musical identity – a sound that lingers in memory long after the final chord has faded.
The album will be coming out on April 11 via Moment of Collapse Records and is available for pre-order at THIS LOCATION

Blending Nordic heritage, black metal and using the Hardanger Fiddle to create soundscapes, Afargang are now releasing a brand new song “Kvile”. The project, the brainchild of Olav L. Mjelva and Norway’s most renowded fiddler, recently signed to By Norse.
The song is taken of the upcoming album ‘Andvake’, set for worldwide release on June 13. Pre-orders are available in the By Norse store here.
Olav L. Mjelva comments on the song and signing to By Norse Music: “Signing with By Norse is a dream come true. I was expecting to release this album on my own label, and to hopefully get enough attention to work with a label on the next album. But this is seriously the best thing that could have Happened! I have huge respect for By Norse and all the people involved, and I think this is a perfect match for Afargang! I look forward to the release and I´m very excited about the album. I got to work with the people I wanted to work with, and I hope it will be well received!
“Kvile” is probably the most folky song on the album. The riffs are partly inspired by desert-blues and put into a Nordic folkmetal-ish blend. “Kvile” is about the humanity´s never ending self-destructing behaviour, and theneed to rest from this. “Tomorrow is just another day to continue life as before”.
Ivar Bjørnson adds on behalf of By Norse: “I’ve been a fan of Olav since our work together with Skuggsjà back in 2014. When he showed me Afargang, I was absolutely floored. Being a national Folk Music treasure already, this guy has the audacity to nail the crossing over into dark, atmospheric and beautiful metal at first attempt. There are passages and harmonic progressions that made the hairs on my arms stand up like they haven’t since the early nineties. Having Afargang sign with us at By Norse Music is an absolute pleasure and honor!”

If darkness is the canvas upon which the boldest visions are painted, then Andvake—meaning “Awakened Soul” in Old Norse—marks Afargang’s arrival with a vivid and unrelenting creation. An album born from the restless churn of Nordic heritage and modern extremity, it pulses with the tension of contrasts: light against dark, the ancient against the new, the ethereal against the unyielding weight of distortion. This is more than an album—it is an invocation, a soundscape ofmelancholy, resilience, and reckoning.
At the heart of Afargang is Olav Luksengård Mjelva, the band’s architect and guiding force. A musician whose soul resonates with the echoes of Norway’s past, his mastery of folk music and particularly the Hardanger fiddle, injects a spectral quality into the band’s sonic framework. But Afargang is no exercise in nostalgia. Instead, it is a collision of forces—where the weight of tradition meets the unbridled power of black metal. Mjelva’s voice, raw and commanding, channels something ancient and untamed.
Olav explains, “As a folk musician, I feel that Norway’s ancient music and culture are a part of my heritage. I use the fiddle to create soundscapes, rather than as the leading melody. There are a lot of folk metal bands that really don’t really understand folk music. They write melodies that sound folkish, played with heavy guitars, but I don’t think that works very well. I wanted to use the Nordic elements as a soundscape to go along with the very heavy music.”
Olav and co-producer Stian Kårstad share guitar duties, their riffing spread across the stereo field, forging a dynamic interplay between them. Olav’s kaleidoscopic leads shine brightly throughout Stian’s sharp, atmospheric layering, adding both edge and depth to the compositions, while ensuring that the band’s sound is both unified and expansive. Beneath them, Sindre Bråthen Tjørswaag’s bass work anchors the sound with an earth-rumbling presence, while Jon Even Schärer’s percussive assault is both intricate and primal, forging rhythms that shift like tectonic plates.
“In my mind, this album is a journey that leads the listener through different worlds. I wanted to write some very dark music, but of course the whole album can’t be that dark, so the songs offersome variation in tone, with different signatures and tempos,” Olav explains. The result is a visceral blend of aggression and sadness. It is an exploration of melancholy, unrest, and the liminal spaces between struggle and surrender.
Each track on Andvake navigates this inner voyage, weaving together a sonic and thematic narrative. Mot Verda (“Against The World”) opens with the ghostly wail of the Hardanger fiddle before surging into a defiant black metal assault. Kvile (“Rest”) blends simmering mid-tempo intensity with luminous, folk-infused guitar work.
The title track, Andvake (“Awakened Soul”), moves with a slow-burning force, shifting between ethereal harmonies and raw, blackened aggression, capturing the torment of a soul in transition. Leika (“Play”) offers a rare moment of light, its folk-pop melodies juxtaposed with deeply melancholic lyrics. Vêrfolne serves as a brief interlude, featuring archival recordings of legendary Norwegian fiddler Olav Sataslåtten, providing a moment of respite before the twilight-inspired Sjå Det Blånar (“It’s Getting Blue”) hurtles into ablend of razorwire metal and spoken-word passages. Leva Og Døy (“Live and Die”) reaches a peak of raw intensity, incorporating Norse mythology into its brutal and beautiful structure, while I Di Eining (“In Your Circle”) is a weighty, harmony-driven lament, drenched in doom-laden atmospherics. Closing track Kom Ned (“Come Down”) is a solemn, transcendental piece that invites the listener to search for meaning and peace in a tumultuous world.
This is not folk metal as the world has known it, nor is it a simple modernization of ancient sounds. It is a force unto itself, reaching into the marrow of Nordic tradition and twisting it into something new, something untamed.
The recording process itself mirrored this dynamic tension. Captured in a setting that embraced both the organic and the otherworldly, the album breathes with the rawness of live instrumentation while maintaining an almost cinematic depth. The interplay between human hands and ancient instruments, between distortion and melody, between control and abandon, is what gives Andvake its undeniable presence. Every note, every layer of sound, is imbued with intention, demanding not just to be heard but to be felt.
Ultimately, these songs are meticulously calibrated to transmit a unique, consciousness-shifting experience to the listener. Experiences that, Olav hopes, are unique to each person. “The idea of the ‘Awakened Soul,’ is something that I’d prefer not to describe too explicitly—I’d like to leave that to the listener. And honestly, there are ideas in these lyrics that I’m still learning myself, which is a good thing.”
Afargang stands at the vanguard of something both deeply familiar and thrillingly unknown. With Andvake, they have not simply created an album—they have unearthed a force, a movement, a sound that bridges centuries and defies boundaries. This is music that refuses to fade into the background. It demands sleepless nights. It demands reckoning. It demands to be met head-on.

Belgian goregrind powerhouse BRUTAL SPHINCTER unleashes the latest glimpse of their upcoming album with the release of the title-track, “Sphinct-Earth Society“! This explosive new single perfectly encapsulates the band’s relentless energy, blending their signature groovy goregrind with fresh influences.
Pushing the genre’s boundaries further than ever, BRUTAL SPHINCTER once again proves why they remain a force to be reckoned with. “Sphinct-Earth Society” is out now – get ready for the full album drop on May 23rd, 2025, via Time To Kill Records!
“The world of conspiracy theories beckons us to explore, particularly the curious claims of flat-earthers. Contrary to popular belief, the Earth is neither flat nor perfectly round; through our own research, we have discovered that it takes the shape of a sphincter.
Our exploration into the flat-earth phenomenon led us deep into various Telegram and Facebook groups, where we watched an overwhelming number of YouTube videos presented by self-proclaimed scientists.
From this experience, we’ve concluded that many people derive a sense of superiority by labeling others as ‘sheeple’, often without realizing their own hubris.
One striking claim we encountered is that there is a hole at the North Pole from which greenhouse gases escape. According to this theory, smoking is strictly forbidden in that area. If you don’t believe us, we encourage you to conduct your own investigations and attempt to debunk our theory!”
With “Sphinct-Earth Society”, the band pushes the boundaries of the genre they inhabit. In other words, by incorporating numerous new influences, ranging from death metal to modern metal, they redefine what goregrind can be, all while maintaining that groovy signature sound that makes them so instantly recognizable.
For example, while the track “Beatdown Syndrome” integrates hardcore elements, the song “Name Three Songs” instrumentally pushes the limits of technicality. Meanwhile, a track like “Abolish Frontex” draws influences from death metal akin to Daath or Decapitated, and a juggernaut like “Unvaxxed Lives Matter” secures its place as a classic in BRUTAL SPHINCTER’s discography thanks to its unparalleled heaviness and ultra-groovy riffs.
Across the 10 tracks that make up this new opus, BRUTAL SPHINCTER tackles societal issues both dramatic (climate change, immigration, sexism, etc.) and conspiratorial (anti-vaxxers, flat-earthers, etc.). As usual, they use their particularly biting humor and embrace absurdity to approach these sensitive topics.
Moreover, the band’s two frontmen complement each other more than ever, delivering a particularly diverse vocal range. Whether you’re a fan of the pitched vocals typical of goregrind, the slimy inhales of slamming death metal, the caveman shouts of powerviolence, or the more traditional growls foundational to death metal, there’s something to enjoy in these 30 minutes of brutality.
With this new offering, BRUTAL SPHINCTER solidifies its position among the leaders of their genre and sets out to expand its reputation into scenes less niche than grindcore.
Tracklist:

Offending everyone since April 1st, 2013, BRUTAL SPHINCTER have, over the years, established themselves as one of the leading acts in the current goregrind scene.
Bringing political themes into their music, they dub themselves “POOlitical” and, through offbeat and satirical humor, take a stand against all forms of extremism while championing freedom of speech.
Despite their extreme musical style, they are one of those rare acts that can seamlessly fit into any type of event or festival. They have proven this time and again, performing at some of the biggest metal gatherings in Europe, such as Hellfest, Summer Breeze Open Air, Alcatraz, Motocultor, Party San, Metaldays, and more, as well as at the most extreme metal events like Obscene Extreme, DeathFeast Open Air, Meh Suff, Kaltenbach Open Air and Netherlands Deathfest.
BEWARE! Party, dance, groove, and brutality are the elements they always bring with them to every show.

Emerging from the heart of India’s thriving yet unorthodox metal scene, Godless has steadily climbed to the pinnacle of the country’s death metal scene. But it’s not their experimental innovations that have set them apart—rather, it’s their unapologetic dedication to pure, high-octane, thrash-infused death metal. With their ferocious energy and no-holds-barred approach, they’ve become a standout force in the global extreme metal landscape.
Formed in mid-2015 in Hyderabad, Godless was founded by a group of seasoned musicians who had already made their mark on the Indian metal scene. Though their name might suggest a nihilistic, uncompromising spirit, it’s the band’s raw and unrelenting sound that truly defines them. From their very inception, Godless has drawn upon the rich heritage of old-school metal while constantly evolving their sound—often delving into thrash, death, and beyond.
The band made their debut with Centuries of Decadence, a blistering four-track EP released in May 2016 through Transcending Obscurity Records. Mixed and mastered by Joe Haley of Psycroptic, the EP was met with widespread acclaim, securing features in Rolling Stone India, Terrorizer, XXL Rock, No Clean Singing, Metal Wani, Brave Words, and Dead Rhetoric. The release quickly cemented Godless as a rising force in the Indian death metal scene.
In 2017, the band had the honor of supporting iconic acts like Psycroptic and Jeff Loomis on their Indian tours, gaining invaluable exposure and growing their fanbase. Fuelled by this momentum, they returned to the studio in early 2018 to record Swarm, a vicious death-thrash EP that featured a guest appearance by former Obscura guitarist Tom “Fountainhead” Geldschlager. The EP was recorded and mixed at Poland’s legendary Hertz Studio, known for its work with giants like Vader, Behemoth, and Decapitated.
In 2018, Godless triumphed in the Metal Battle India competition, earning them a coveted spot to perform at Wacken Open Air—one of the world’s largest metal festivals. This international debut marked the band’s first major milestone on the global stage. Following a packed 2019 that included a successful India tour, a four-week European tour, and a memorable Nepal tour, the band set their sights on even greater achievements.
In November 2021, Godless unleashed their highly anticipated debut LP, States of Chaos. Mixed and mastered once again at Hertz Studio, the album delivers eight ferocious tracks of relentless thrash and death metal. States of Chaos quickly garnered praise from fans and critics alike, landing the band at the top of Bandcamp’s global charts for both thrash (#1) and death metal (#3). The album earned widespread acclaim from outlets such as Unite Asia, Metal Injection, and Invisible Oranges, and was featured by Rolling Stone India as one of the top 10 Indian albums of 2021. States of Chaoswas also nominated for “Album of the Year” by Metal Injection, and recognized by Bandcamp as one of the best metal releases of November 2021.
Now, with a lineup consisting of Abbas Razvi (bass), Nikhil Rajkumar (drums), Moiz Mustafa (guitar), and Nangsan Lyngwa (vocals), Godless is already deep into the creation of their next record. The band has an upcoming India tour in 2025, followed by a return to Europe in April and May for more intense live performances that are sure to continue their ascent.
In a genre where innovation is often as prized as tradition, Godless stands out by staying true to the roots of death metal, while simultaneously pushing the boundaries of their sound. The chaos is only just beginning.
March 21, 2024, marked the release of Ascoltare, the brand-new classical guitar single by guitarist and composer Alessandro De Fusco. A piece born from the need to rediscover the true value of listening in an era dominated by noise and constant distraction.
Ascoltare is an invitation to slow down, to perceive every sound with greater awareness, and to reconnect deeply with the world and oneself. Through the delicacy of his classical guitar notes, De Fusco takes the listener on a sonic journey that echoes the silent pulse of nature, an ideal place for an intimate and authentic dialogue.
The track was recorded with the contribution of Francesco Coia, while the official video was curated by Alessandro De Fusco himself. The guitar used in the recording is a fine Maple Handmade Guitar, crafted by luthier Enzo Pascariello.
The single is available now on all major digital platforms.
Alessandro De Fusco, a guitarist and composer from Campania, is currently a teacher at Lizard Accademie Musicali in Rome. After studying classical guitar at the “Nicola Sala” Conservatory in Benevento, he expanded his musical research by also studying electric guitar at the Lizard Academy in Rome.
Already well known in the progressive metal scene under the stage name Alexander Layer, De Fusco has released several successful albums, including Fenrir (2018), Huginn Muninn (2019), and Sounds From The Labs (2021), collaborating with internationally renowned artists such as Marco Sfogli and David Folchitto. In 2023, he decided to separate his solo career from progressive metal, releasing his first classical music album, Nel Silenzio, which led him to perform across Italy.
After a period of artistic reflection and renewal, Alessandro De Fusco returns with Ascoltare, a piece that marks a refined and introspective turning point in his musical journey.
