The legendary guitar virtuoso Yngwie Malmsteen is set to release his brand-new album, ‘Tokyo Live’ on 28 March via Music Theories Recordings. The album is a celebration of his illustrious 40-year career. Malmsteen has revealed the live video for “No Rest For The Wicked” which was taken from the show. Watch the spectacular guitarist in action HERE.

This follows the first blistering taster on the video for “Top Down, Foot Down” HERE.

The incomparable Malmsteen is one of the greatest guitarists to ever have lived. So, when the chance comes to witness the maestro in the live setting, you take notice. This mesmerizing spectacle can be witnessed on ‘Tokyo Live’.
 
Like “Top Down, Foot Down”, “No Rest For The Wicked” is taken from the 2016 album, ‘World on Fire’ and showcases the wide range and dynamic flavour which demonstrates Malmsteen’s incredible technique and prowess.
 
The concert was recorded at the Zepp DiverCity, Tokyo on May 11th, 2024, as part of his 40th Anniversary World Tour. Calling upon an enormous catalogue of material, Malmsteen shredded his way through a furious set, backed by a mountainous Marshall stack wall. Talking about the live experience, Malmsteen adds, “Playing live in front of people is really what it’s all about. It’s exciting and dangerous because you have to take risks and there’s no fixing afterwards.”

Malmsteen’s breathtaking technique takes centre stage of the 100-minute concert whilst being cocooned by exquisite musicianship throughout. The setlist tracks Malmsteen’s illustrious career, from “Hiroshima Mon Amour” and “Evil Eye” and through his remarkable solo career with “Rising Force,” “Far Beyond The Sun,” “Arpeggios from Hell” and “Seventh Sign” all the way up to his most recent material taken from 2021’s ‘Parabellum,’ with “Wolves At The Door,” “Relentless Fury”, (Si Vis Pacem) Parabellum,” and not to mention rousing renditions of “Paganini’s 4th” and “Smoke on the Water.”
 
The name of Yngwie Malmsteen has always stood for uncompromising excellence. In a career that now spans more than 40 years he has proven himself to be a unique artist. You can try to categorise him in any way you wish. But the manner in which this supreme Swedish craftsman has continually developed his music makes Malmsteen sublimely transcend any definition you attempt to impose.
 
He now has a catalogue of 22 solo studio albums, each of which has much to commend. Malmsteen’s artistry has always clearly incorporated a healthy virtuosity, but his talent goes well beyond a comprehensive control of the guitar. The man is a fine composer and, on recent releases, has also showcased a strong vocal presence and now, with only this fifth live release, it captures four decades of relentless fury and blissful artistry of one of the true greats.

EIVØR is an artist perfectly attuned to the savage vicissitudes of nature. Born & raised in Syðrugøta (population: 453), a tiny community on one of the northerly Faroe Islands, the singer-songwriter grew up surrounded by a harsh, windswept landscape and the North Atlantic, a rugged backdrop that has, unsurprisingly, deeply influenced the music she creates.

With ten studio albums under her belt, as well as numerous collaborations with artists including Àsgeir, John Grant, Einar Selvik (Wardruna) and Dan Heath (Lana Del Ray) Eivør can be considered to be one of the most eclectic artists of the Nordics and one of the most mesmerizing live vocalists of her generation.

The winner of the 2021 Nordic Council Music prize and awarded twice with the Icelandic Music Price, multiple Danish Music Folk Awards, as well as the Faroese Music Award, Eivør is part of a new wave of Nordic artists rapidly building passionate international fan bases with music that honours their ancient cultural & musical folklore. At last count, Eivør’s music has been streamed close to 1 billion times and she has been playing sell out tours in both Scandinavia, Europe and the US.

Eivør also soundtracks and features on all seasons of the flagship Netflix hit series The Last Kingdom (co-written with Ivor Novello/BAFTA-nominated John Lunn.)

The new official The Last Kingdom album Destiny Is All – written and produced by John Lunn, Eivør and Danny Saul, was released last year. Eivør also recently featured on the God of War Ragnarök score and on the soundtrack to the hit video game. She then performed at the 10-year Game Awards anniversary show at The Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles.

Eivør signed with Season of Mist in 2023. Her first album on Season of Mist will be released this year.

Inspired by the breathtaking phenomenon of the Moon’s phases, New Moon highlights BILLY YFANTIS‘ lifelong passion for astronomy. The album’s idea is based on the eight principal moon phases—the constant transition from darkness to light and back again—resulting from the ever-changing interaction of the Earth, Moon, and Sun. This cosmic story runs through the album, encouraging listeners to discover the beauty and mystery of the universe.

Each track has been specifically created to reflect a different stage of the Moon, from the calm mystery of the New Moon to the bright peak of the Full Moon and the elegant retreat into Fading Lights. Throughout the album, Yfantis combines layered analog synths, atmospheric drones, and throbbing rhythms to create an atmosphere that reflects the adventurous spirit of his musical inspirations.

Billy Yfantis’ style is a distinct mix of Tangerine Dream’s ethereal, space soundscapes and Vangelis’ dramatic, epic synthesizer soundscapes. His work also pays tribute to Jean-Michel Jarre’s revolutionary compositions, whose adventurous, experimental approach to electronic music paved the way for new audio exploration. New Moon, packed with the raw spirit of krautrock, combines analog warmth with up-to-date digital production to create multilayered deep soundscapes that reflect nostalgia as well as futuristic excitement.

Melodic doom metal band RED MOON ARCHITECT have announced their sixth studio album, “October Decay”, set for release on April 17th via Noble Demon.

Hailing from Kouvola, Finland, RED MOON ARCHITECT have consistently delivered critically acclaimed albums, solidifying their presence within the doom metal scene. The band, originally a solo project by drummer Saku Moilanen, has evolved through various lineup changes, culminating in their current formation featuring Ville Rutanen on vocals.

Following their 2020 release, “Emptiness Weighs The Most”, also put out by Noble Demon, “October Decay” adds another chapter to RED MOON ARCHITECT‘s impressive discography. Their musical journey has seen them explore diverse sonic landscapes, notably with “Kuura” in 2019, a release that delved into darker, black metal-influenced territories. Earlier albums like “Fall” (2015) and “Return of the Black Butterflies” (2017) further demonstrate their evolution and commitment to crafting compelling doom metal. Over the years, RED MOON ARCHITECT have shared the stage with top-class acts such as Amorphis, Swallow The Sun, Moonsorrow, Insomnium and Wolfheart and have cemented their reputation by performing at numerous metal festivals.

LIV KRISTINE Releases New Single + Lyric Video ‘Ode To Life Pristine’

Norwegian dark metal queen LIV KRISTINE releases the single ‘Ode To Life Pristine’. The song is taken from her new studio album ‘Amor Vincit Omnia’, which will be released on 25th April on Metalville Records.

An ode to untouched life. The song combines classic dark rock with elements of doom and rock with breathtaking directness, creating a great emotionality that captivates the listener.

Just two years after the release of ‘River of Diamonds’, LIV KRISTINE is back with her seventh solo album ‘Amor Vincit Omnia’ and is as passionate as ever.

The music on ‘Amor Vincit Omnia’ was composed by the sought-after session and live musician Sascha Dannenberger, who was also responsible for the production in his SaDinTheBox Studio and the Twilight Sound Studio in Karlsruhe. The eleven tracks were mastered by Andy Classen at his Stage One Studio.

In their songs, the band skilfully and excitingly combines classic dark rock with elements of doom, rock and pop to create an extraordinary mix of sounds that fully emphasises the mood of each individual track.

LIV KRISTINE has always had a strong connection to her fans and followers. Personally and in her lyrics, she has an open manner that instils instant appreciation and confidence.

The once again impressive artwork by Marc Niederhagemann (ArtWeRK – Mediadesign) with photos by Mariël Rohrbach complements the musical and lyrical world of the songs on ‘Amor Vinci Omina’ with its Gothic-style images.
