KYPCK is a Finnish doom metal band singing in Russian. The band is on
the verge of releasing their third album “Имена на стене” (Name On The Wall). Imya Na Stene is out on March 21, 2014 through the label Ranka Kustannus.

The album is 6-panel digipak with a 16-page booklet including lyrics and English translations. The artwork is based on Petri Laurell’s photos shot in the ghost town of Pripyat, Ukraine, next to what used to be the nuclear power plant of Chernobyl.

On the album’s every 10 track KYPCK sounds diverse but crushing, oppressive yet intensive. Imya Na Stene can be seen as counter reaction to the band’s previous and heavier works such as “Nizhe” (2011). Yet again, their self-labeled genre “Fast Russian Doom Metal From Finland” has never been more descriptive as it is this time around. Production work on the album carries a fingerprint of Mr. Hiili Hiilesmaa, the man behind numerous rock and heavy music number ones in Finland. Hiili is also a former drummer of KYPCK.

Lyrics on the album took time to shape to the final form. “Writing lyrics was more challenging than on prior records. Inspiration hit hard while visiting at Tallinn’s KGB Museum and observing façades and the cityscape of Tallinn. All in all, texts are bold, covering stories related to present Russia. Putin’s phrases are cited and stories of dinosaurs and trucks being told. Massive and heavy themes, just the topics Russians are excited about”, says the KYPCK-singer E. Seppänen.

No record release without any tour plans. KYPCK is about to hit the road in the beginning of April. After a dozen of club gigs in Finland this circus of doom is ready to take over Russia. KYPCK’s biggest tour to the date in the late U.S.S.R. starts on September 19. So far, the band is confirmed to perform in the following 11 cities: St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vladimir, Nizhnyi, Novgorod, Perm, Yekaterinburg, Omsk, Novosibirsk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk and Irkutsk. KYPCK shows are known for video material of Russia-Soviet history, guitar shaped machine gun and one-stringed bass.

To mark KYPCK’s success amongst Russians, a song called “Alleya Stalina” recently made it to the playlist of Nashe Radio. And best of all, won the weekly poll of new music voted by the listeners. This is remarkably great considering that Nashe only plays Russian music. Nashe is the biggest rock radio station in Russia.
