Claus Larsen, the man behind the massively influential industrial band LEÆTHER STRIP as well as the long-running side project Klute (now known as Klutæ), is not one to rest on his laurels. Not only has Larsen continued to release new original music under the LS banner, but he’s also explored collaborations with fellow industrial heroes Die Krupps and Fear Factory guitarist Dino Kazares on last year’s brilliant project called Die Klute. In addition, Larsen has continued his hugely popular covers project, now in its fourth chapter with Æppreciation IV. As with the other volumes in this series, Larsen dramatically reworks the songs of his musical influences. This fourth edition includes some expected, familiar names such as Nine Inch Nails, Depeche Mode, and Killing Joke but as always, Larsen has a few tricks up his sleeve including superb takes on songs by Bjork, The Misfits, Billy Idol and Laid Back’s unforgettable smash hit “White Horse.”

Larsen offers these thoughts on this project, “Doing cover versions of my favorite songs has always been a hobby of mine. I learn a lot by doing them, and since I am a one-man band, it also helps me to get new inspiration and a break from my other projects. It’s never about trying to do it better, it is always meant as a tribute to the original artist. With this new 4th Edition of the Æppreciation series, I’ve dived into some of my very favorite songs, ones that I’ve been a bit too scared to cover earlier. But I really feel that these covers are among the ones I’m most happiest about of them all. In my book, no song is too sacred not to cover. A lot of my younger audience have no idea that they are covers really, so I hope that it makes them curious, and they can go back and discover the bands that inspired me growing up.”

Æppreciation IV will be released on both CD and on limited edition vinyl (only 200 copies made) May 15 via Cleopatra Records.
