ATTEMPT TO SOMEBODY’S LIFE present the official video for “Black Chicken/White Donkeys”, a track with a strong conceptual and emotional impact, deeply rooted in critical thought and social protest.
The lyrics are inspired by a famous quote from Marx’s Capital:
“Labour in the white skin cannot emancipate itself where labour in the black skin is branded.”
A phrase that becomes the manifesto of the entire song, symbolizing a capitalism that continues to generate exploitation and inequality.
“Black Chicken/White Donkeys” tells the story of the clash between “the new outcasts” – immigrants, especially Africans – and the “native” white-collar workers, deceived into believing they belong to a privileged class, when in reality they live inside a golden cage. Themes such as demographic decline, the infertility of Western societies, and the need for new enslaved labor emerge in the lyrics with rawness and clarity: “they continually need new slavers but alienated hens no longer lay eggs.”
The video, directed by the talented Simone Serafini, stages the metaphor of the spider as a visual representation of capital oppressing the working masses, until their rebellion and ultimate victory.
With this single, ATTEMPT TO SOMEBODY’S LIFE officially join the prestigious roster of Wanikiya Record/Promotion, a leading label and press office in the national and international heavy music scene.
The new album – Cyrene:
Out on May 19th, 2025, Cyrene is more than just an album: it is an indictment, a punch to the heart, a sonic journey into the darkest contradictions of our time.
After their acclaimed debut “Bridges/Latencies” (2024) – praised for blending the ethereal intensity of Deftones with the urgency of Rage Against The Machine – the band returns with an even more ambitious and necessary work.
The title draws inspiration from Cyrenaica, the Libyan region that stands as a symbol of concentration camps, systemic exploitation, and Western hypocrisy. The sound is direct, fierce, and authentic:
- Drums and bass recorded naturally to convey urgency and truth
- Guitars raw and compact, like walls of sound
- Synths opening glimpses of denied freedom
- Vocals oscillating between melancholic melodies and raging screams, striking the perfect balance between emotion and protest
Recorded and mixed by Emanuele Braca at GRS Studios in Florence, mastered by Tommy Bianchi, with artwork designed by visionary artist Januz Miralles, Cyrene is set to be one of the most powerful and conscious releases in the contemporary alternative metal scene.
