“Between Shores”

Post-metallers A LIGHT WITHIN from Kansas City, MO, have released “Between Shores” on a Name Your Price basis on their Bandcamp page. The track comes as the next step in the band’s evolving sound from their debut EP Preface. In an interview with Dutch Metal Maniac (read here), guitarist Jeff Irvine explains: “With the changing of bassists, the sound changed. Not drastically, but organically. We all went out of our comfort zones, and came up with something really great.”

The single, likened to bands such as Junius and Neurosis, comes as a taster for the upcoming Body Matter EP, whose lyrics concern “one’s reflection on life; love and loss.”

Missouri-based post-metallers A LIGHT WITHIN have a new song streaming over at Ragnarok Reviews. “Between Shores” is an expansive musical journey, drawing as much from Junius’ ambient-post metal-tendencies as the gloomier side of doom.

Terming A Light Within’s style as the “thinking man’s approach,” Ragnarok describes “Between Shores” as “a spiritual experience”, further elaborating that “with every replay, you end up finding something new underneath all the layers. Even while searching through these layers, one can’t help but become lost within the song itself.”
