No one should have to endure the torment that Amanda Todd went through at the hands of a pack of cyber bullies. The story of her video and subsequent suicide has been a rallying cry across the web. Canadian rocker BIF NAKED has posted the following message on Facebook:

“Namaste and Pure Love for Amanda and thousands of kids like her, who are victims of bullying. IT’S NOT OKAY. Please please be kind and have compassion in this life. If you see anyone getting bullied, stand up for them, and step up and step in! If you are getting bullied, please tell someone, even if you have trust issues. Tell anyone; a parent, a teacher, a cop, a cashier at the grocery store – ANYONE. People, let’s empower and support each other. Spread the love. I will, too.”

Earlier this year, IN THIS MOMENT vocalist Maria Brink issued a public service announcement in support of Musicians Opposed To Bullying (M.O.B.) via the video clip below. An excerpt follows:

“What kids out there who are getting bullied need to know is that it’s not OK. There’s a lot of reach-out programs, people that you can talk to, people that can help you figure out how to get an answer to the problem. And if you are unique and you are different and you’re an artist and you don’t fit in with everybody else, what you need to realize is that that’s actually a blessing — that makes you unique and that makes you special — and in the long run, in the big scheme of things, it’s gonna be something that makes you have your own identity. Embrace who you are, and if people don’t understand you, that’s their own problem, that’s their own insecurities. They’re really the one with the problem — the people who are judging you and saying negative things to you, they are really the people with the problem, not you at all.”

A four-minute public service announcement featuring ANTHRAX frontman Joey Belladonna, bassist Frank Bello and drummer Charlie Benante is also online. An excerpt from Bello’s comments is available below:

Bello: “Don’t be afraid to tell. Whether you have a good relationship with your parents or you don’t, you have a guidance counselor in school, you have a principal. I was close to my principal in school. When I was getting bullied, I talked to him, and he acted as a confidant. And he told me what to do; it was very secretive. You can do it all in secret. Don’t feel like there is no way out; there is a way out. And it’s not suicide. It’s absolutely not suicide. Get rid of these lowlives in your life, man. I’m telling you. There’s a long life ahead of you.”
