In the past years BLIND GUARDIAN have become one of the most wished acts by the ROCKHARZ visitors. Now, five years after their last fantastic appereance in 2012, the teutonic Metal heroes will be back in the Harz Mountains. BLIND GUARDIAN are going to play one of their rare open air shows at ROCKHARZ 2017!

The ROCKHARZ Open Air 2017 will take place from July 5th to July 8th 2017 in Ballenstedt.
Wacken Open Air is one of the most visited and biggest music festivals in Europe and said to be the greatest heavy metal festival in the world. About 80,000 metal and rock fans gather in the otherwise tranquil town every year without fail. The visitors cause an almost crisis situation situation in the 2,000 capacity village for three days – and they do not care about the weather.
At this year’s Wacken Open Air, DMAX followed the internationally successful band BLIND GUARDIAN. The band – Hansi Kürsch (vocals), André Olbricht (lead guitars), Marcus Siepen (guitars), Frederik Ehmke (drums) and Barend Courbois (bass) – have achieved status as one of the leading international metal acts for almost 30 years. They have sold more than 2,5 million records and are followed by an enormously loyal fanbase.
With BLIND GUARDIAN and their crew, DMAX goes behind the big stage and has a look behind the scenes of Wacken Open Air for the first time: how do you experience such an event, if you’re not a guest, but a part of the crew? The DMAX documentary focuses on the varied and hectic daily routine of the musicians on tour as well as the hard work of the “secret heroes” of Wacken Open Air (f.e. security, project manager), which is all running in the background unnoticedly. The DMAX documentary, “Road To Wacken”, delivers fascinating insights on the daily routine of an experienced band and shows the everyday life at the festival between adventurous fun and hard work.

Canada’s The Metal Voice spoke to BLIND GUARDIAN vocalist Hansi Kursch at Heavy Montreal 2016 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada
Hansi told The Metal Voice Blind Guardian’s about their plans to release a new album in 2019, “Charlie Bauerfeind (producer) was a great help there, we have had many ideas, but he at a certain point came up with the idea to drive things into a stronger direction even into the the orchestral direction. So that is where we would go next. I believe it will be easier for people to consume what we are doing with the orchestral album because that is plain orchestral with me singing and typical Blind Guardian songs, you will immediately recognize. And maybe even easier to consume than Beyond the Red Mirror because Red Mirror is very massive, very progressive. The next album will be very melodic, very intense but classical intense.”
Hansi continued. “It’s all new songs, we started with these songs when we did Nightfall in Middle-Earth. We got the first two songs back then and I was really pushing to have them on Nightfall in Middle-Earth and André Olbrich said they would not fit and Andre said why not work on a whole album in that style and we will release that in five years from now. So 20 years later we are still working on it but composing wise we are almost working on the second album after this one. The new orchestral album will be release in 2019 because we recorded a lot of shows last year and we are going to release a double live album in 2018.”
Legendary Progressive Power Metal Heroes BLIND GUARDIAN have announced their returning to North America this fall for the second leg of the Beyond The Red Mirror tour! Before they start the tour, they will make a stop at Prog Power Festival for a special performance on Thursday, September 9th. The following day they will kick-off their highly anticipated 19-date tour at The Orpheum in Tampa, Florida with none other than German metallers GRAVE DIGGER. Their trek will include one Canadian date as well as stops in Worcester, Milwaukee, and conclude on October 5th at The Fillmore in San Francisco!
BLIND GUARDIAN will be touring in support of their tenth album “Beyond The Red Mirror” which was the highest first-week U.S. sales numbers for the band. It debuted at #132 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, #3 on the Billboard Heatseekers chart, and #6 on the Top Hard Music chart. In Canada, BLIND GUARDIAN nearly doubled their first-week numbers from 2010, resulting in Beyond The Red Mirror debuts at #49 on the Top 200 and #4 on the Top Hard Music charts.

Developer KING Art have announced that a cooperation with the legendary band BLIND GUARDIAN has been arranged: Not only will musicians from BLIND GUARDIAN perform parts of The Dwarves OST in their own unique style but there will also be a special quest involving BLIND GUARDIAN in the game. To perfectly blend that into the fantasy-world of Girdlegard, the developers from KING Art and BLIND GUARDIAN are cooperating closely with the author of The Dwarves book series.
A new video shows the visit by some developers of BLIND GUARDIAN’s studio, where members of the band are playing The Dwarves for the first time.
A crowdfunding campaign for The Dwarves started furiously and is only hours away from passing its 80%-line, having gathered more than 4,000 backers who have pledged over 200,000 $ so far – and there are still 15 days of funding left! A variety of stretch goals has also been revealed. Supporters will be able to vote for either a cooperative Multiplayer, a brand-new character with its own unique skills & story, different new games modes such as New Game Plus or a Horde-Mode and more.
