Borgholm Brinner

After concluding their European headline tour, IN FLAMES are ready for the summer festival season to begin! For the second time, the band is about to hold their annual festival, BORGHOLM BRINNER, in the Borgholm Castle on the isle of Öland/Sweden and will unite Jesterheads from all over the world. The band themselves will perform two different special sets on each night, and many internationally renowned acts have joined the line-up.

On August 2nd and 3rd, 2019, BORGHOLM BRINNER will celebrate its second round. Unfortunately, ARCHITECTS were forced to cancel this year’s performance due to logistical reasons, but Norway’s punk ‘n rollers TURBONEGRO will step in. Therefore, the new line-up looks as listed below:

»I, The Mask« has once again showcased why IN FLAMES are one of the biggest metal bands in the world – never shying away from pushing their artistic boundaries, crafting music that’s as catchy as it is crushing. Formed in 1990, the band are considered one of the forefathers of melodic death metal and the purveyors of the ‘Gothenburg sound’. With thirteen studio albums under their belt, countless successful tours around the globe playing with the likes of METALLICA, IRON MAIDEN, MEGADETH and AVENGED SEVENFOLD – with millions of records sold and a massive fanbase worldwide, IN FLAMES have proven to be an unstoppable force. From their 1994 debut »Lunar Strain« onwards, the band’s intricate twin guitar attack, melodic vocals and superb arrangements have given them a signature sound that has evolved throughout the years.

It’s getting warmer and we’re closing in on this summer’s festival season. The first installment of IN FLAMES new festival, Borgholm Brinner (Borgholm is Burning), will take place at the Borgholm Castle July 27th – 28th on the island of Öland. With just two more acts to announce, the lineup is almost complete.

The latest addition to this impressive line-up are the Swedish ghosts from the North, TRIBULATION. Straight from Arvika, they are a metal band known far outside of the Värmland woods. Their fourth album, »Down Below«, was released in January and received praise from critics and fans alike. We can’t wait to see what TRIBULATION will bring to BORGHOLM BRINNER this summer!

IN FLAMES singer Anders Fridén states:
“I think every band dreams of being able to do this one day – at least for us it’s always been in the back of our minds and right now feels like the best time to do it. Whether it’s putting on your own festival, it’s an indescribable feeling to have created a community from your music, and even crazier to have the ability bring that community together in a physical place – playing and enjoying music together, drinking together etc. And in a castle of all places. That’s another thing. It wouldn’t be an IN FLAMES festival if it were just happening on a plot of dirt. It’s got to be special so our fans can have the ultimate experience, so we can pay them back for being so great to us for 20 years with an awesome weekend they’ll never forget. We’ve also hand-picked the best bands for everyone to enjoy and although we can’t say who’s playing yet, we can promise there will be no disappointments.”

Since forming in Gothenburg, Sweden in 1990, IN FLAMES have had seven albums debut in the top ten in Sweden, including two #1 debuts. They have toured the globe countless times, performing alongside some of today’s biggest rock and metal acts, including METALLICA, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, DISTURBED and IRON MAIDEN, and have held several mainstage and headline spots at various music festivals around the world, including Ozzfest, Download Festival, Graspop, Taste of Chaos, Hellfest, Rock Am Ring / Im Park and many more.

The band’s 2016 album, »Battles« – recorded by multi Grammy-nominated producer, Howard Benson – debuted in multiple Top 10’s around the world, #6 in Germany.
