CATAMENIA: Re-Recorded Version Of ‘Blackmension’ Song Available For Free Download

A re-recorded version of the song “Blackmension” from Finnish melodic black metallers CATAMENIA is available for free download at this location. The track, which originally appeared on 2000’s “Eternal Winter’s Prophecy” album, is included on the “The Rewritten Chapters” collection, which contains re-recorded and rearranged versions of 14 songs from CATAMENIA‘s previous albums as well as a brand new cover version of BON JOVI‘s “Born To Be My Baby”. According to a press release, “This six-piece band brings the old songs back with better sounds and giving them some new brutality, but still respecting enough the original versions.” The cover art and booklet was designed by Riku Hopeakoski and Elsa Bergström.

Finnish melodic black metallers CATAMENIA will release “The Rewritten Chapters” on April 27 via Massacre Records. The collection, which was recorded last fall at Mastervox Studios in Oulu, Finland with Kari Vähäkuopus, contains re-recorded and rearranged versions of 14 songs from CATAMENIA‘s previous albums as well as a brand new cover version of BON JOVI‘s “Born To Be My Baby”. According to a press release, “This six-piece band brings the old songs back with better sounds and giving them some new brutality, but still respecting enough the original versions.” The cover art and booklet was designed by Riku Hopeakoski and Elsa Bergström.

CATAMENIA in December 2010 announced the addition of vocalist Juha-Matti Perttunen (ALL AGAINST) to the group’s ranks. The band also parted ways with Ari Nissilä (guitar, vocals), Toni Kansanoja (bass/backing vocals), Kari Vähäkuopus (clean vocals) and Mikko Nevanlahti (drums) and replaced them with Mikko Hepo-oja (bass), Tony Qvick (drums) and Sauli Jauhiainen (guitar).

The current CATAMENIA lineup is:

CATAMENIA To Release Compilation Of Re-Recorded Material

Finnish melodic black metallers CATAMENIA will enter Mastervox Studios in Oulu, Finland in late September to re-record select songs from their back catalog for an upcoming compilation album, to be released in early 2012. The set is expected to include guest appearances by the band’s previous vocalists Ari Nissilä, Olli Mustonen and Mika Tönning.

CATAMENIA recently recruited keyboardist Jussi Sauvola (SILENT THRENODY, DECROWNED).

CATAMENIA last December announced the addition of vocalist Juha-Matti Perttunen (ALL AGAINST) to the group’s ranks. The band also parted ways with Ari Nissilä (guitar, vocals), Toni Kansanoja (bass/backing vocals), Kari Vähäkuopus (clean vocals) and Mikko Nevanlahti (drums) and replaced them with Mikko Hepo-oja (bass), Tony Qvick (drums) and Sauli Jauhiainen (guitar).

CATAMENIA‘s most recent album, “Cavalcade”, was released in February 2010 via Massacre Records. The CD was recorded and mixed by Kari Vähäkuopus at Mastervox Studios in Oulu, Finland and was produced by CATAMENIA. POISONBLACK/ex-SENTENCED frontman Ville Laihiala makes a guest appearance on the album’s opening track, “Blood Trails”.

Finnish melodic black metallers CATAMENIA have announced the addition of vocalist Juha-Matti Perttunen (in the photo) to the group’s ranks.

The band states, “There was a damn tight fight between the last three candidates [which included Ash from AGATHODAIMON and Olli-Jukka Mustonen], but Juha-Matti took over everything with his charisma, attitude and especially wide variety of different vocals to cope with our all songs.”

Catamenia: Lineup Changes Announced

Guitarist Riku Hopeakoski of Finnish melodic black metallers Catamenia has issued the following update:

“I’m sad to inform you all about huge and unfortunate lineup changes in the band. Ari (Nissilä, guitar/vocals), Toni (Kansanoja, bass/backing vocals), Kari (Vähäkuopus, clean vocals) and Mikko (Nevanlahti, drums) decided to part ways with Catamenia because of their project bands, businesses, lack of inspiration and time, personal issues, etc.

Riku to his ex-members: “I had a great time with you and hope nothing but the best for you. We’ll always be true friends, no question about it! You’ve been my family for years and you will always be part of it, now and in future! There are no words to describe, but only: thousands of sincere thanks from the bottom of my heart, guys — it was a damn awesome journey with great unforgettable memories! THANK YOU!!!

“But now some happier news. The first new attachment for the band is our ex-bassist Mikko Hepo-oja. He was our bassist during ‘Winternight Tragedies’ era. Also two new members join the band — drummer Tony Qvick and guitarist Sauli Jauhiainen. Also the new vocalist will be informed quite soon. So, all in all: we’re back in business!”
