Before finally releasing their debut album, NORDIC GOTHIC, on October 11th, CEMETERY SKYLINE are inviting you to hear BEHIND THE LIE.
The video for their new single was directed by the band’s very own drummer, Vesa Ranta, and Petri Marttinen. Vesa (drums) comments his work: “As the band’s drummer and professional video director you are wearing two hats and it’s always a challenge. However, I found the challenge meaningful, so I definitely wanted to make a video for our band. I love old horror and crime movie classics and wanted to bring the same kind of visual narrative and atmosphere to the ‘Behind the Lie’ video: Hitchcock goes goth, spiced up with 80’s and 90’s aesthetics. Working on the video was a great project. I truly feel that together with my partner Petri Marttinen we achieved the gloomy atmosphere we were looking for. ‘Behind the Lie’ is one of my absolute favourites on the album, it fully grabs my attention and hits hard. The mood of the song just sucks you in. It is the perfect song for the autumn that is about to start.”
BEHIND THE LIE is taken from CEMETERY SKYLINE’s upcoming debut album, NORDIC GOTHIC that is due for a release on October 11th, 2024. Pre-order the album at https://cemeteryskyline.lnk.to/NordicGothic-BioNe

Nordic Gothic, the first full-length CEMETERYSKYLINE studio recording will see the fading light of day in the fall of 2024. Here’s a promise: It’s worth the wait. It’s just as awesome as you think it is. And more.
Vocalist Mikael Stanne says about the album: “The lyrics are deeply rooted in the self-chosen solitary life of the Nordic people, their anti-social behavior and bleak sense of humor… When writing the lyrics, I took advantage of this feature of ours, which you could call the Scandinavian gothic lifestyle.”
The album is out October 11th in the following formats: Black LP Ltd. lilac LP (300x) – Bengans & Levykauppa Äx Ltd. Sparkle Universe LP (500x) – https://www.cmdistro.de & various other retailers Ltd. transp. light blue LP (300x) – EMP Ltd. neon green LP (300x) – Backstage Rockshop & Fans and Bands in Mexico Ltd. Dive into the darkness with Cemetery Skyline‘s brand new track, The Coldest Heart!
Mikael Stanne (vocals) says, “This song deals with the endless need for validation and misguided desperation. It is based on some dramatic experiences I had in recent times that ended with incarceration. It spells out its darkness in all its loveless splendour.”
Markus Vanhala (guitars) further elaborates: “‘The Coldest Heart’ is one of the very first songs written for CEMETERY SKYLINE and it is an obvious tribute to ‘The Green Man’, but in a very gentleman way. It is a heavy hitter for a gloomy summer hit in 2024.”
CEMETERY SKYLINE will play their live premier at John Smith Rock Festival in Laukaa, Finland August 18-20, 2024.
After summoning a Violent Storm in early April, CEMETERY SKYLINE are shrouding you In Darkness.
“It is a song about losing your sense of self in all kinds of misery and doubt”, says Mikael Stanne (vocals) about the lyrics of the song while Santeri Kallio (keyboards) sheds light on the music: “I like to think that people feel the melody and the vibe with this one. It’s taking me back to a gothic disco in Düsseldorf in ’96. There is a lot of smoke, a lot of lights, good melodies, a nice and steady beat.” Markus Vanhala (guitar) further elaborates: “After the first single it shows a different side of goth. Goths like to dance… in darkness. Dancing with themselves or with myself, like Billy Idol once said, who had a valid point.”
“The weather forecast points to a Nordic gothic storm that is rising”, says MarkusVanhala (guitar). “The song mood is highly inspired by the late nightly empty roads of Goth-emburg and their desperate stories of loneliness and getting lost to the unique beautiful misery and sorrow of Nordic gothic.”
MikaelStanne (vocals) adds: “It’s about a built-up frustration and how it can get out of hand, the feeling of helplessness and how it can take over.” SanteriKallio (keyboards) concludes: “It’s a simple, rocky song that represents the band perfectly.”
Make sure to watch the video that was filmed by Patric Ullaeus (rEvolver Film Company), as it documents a very special moment in the band’s history:
“The video is telling the story of how this weird gang of friends is literally coming together”, says Vanhala and Kallio adds: ”We take a walk through an old cemetery and actually meet as a band for the very first time.”
