Bergen artist Chris Wicked has been compared to artists like Nick Cave, Sisters of Mercy and Anathema and Norway’s own Seigmen and Madrugada. His clear voice and deep, melancholic lyrics set him apart from many others.

After touring the world with Malice In Wonderland for years he in 2021 released the critically acclaimed solo debut album “Aleine”. “This song is very close to my heart,” says the former Malice In Wonderland singer. “It’s one of the first songs I wrote as a solo artist nearly a decade ago, but it’s taken until now to finally record and release it. Norwegian artist CHRIS WICKED returns with a mysterious and soulful interpretation of the heavy metal classic “Mother”.

“We dig to put our own stamp on songs we love, and everyone in the band loves this song, so we decided to experiment with it in one of our rehearsals”, says Chris Wicked. “We took the song in a totally different direction, dark, ambient and soulful, and since we liked the result we decided to film a performance at our studio. Once in a while we will do this, just to show off some of our inspirations”, the singer adds.

Chris Wicked is a Norwegian rock artist who after several years of touring and releasing albums with Malice In Wonderland went solo with the critically acclaimed debut album “Aleine” from 2021. Although incorporating members from Gorgoroth, Gaahl’s Wyrd, Taake, Helheim and Shining on the record, the sound was not metal – although the inspirations are clearly there – but rather a melancholic rock album.

Chris and the band are currently recording their sophomore album, and new music is expected spring 2023.

After the first single, «Aleine», where Black Metal legend GAAHL contributed as a guest vocalist, CHRIS WICKED is now ready with the second single, «Sørgebånd” (Mourning band). This is the most stripped-down song on the upcoming album, a sensitive and melancholic gem that tears well in the soul. Featuring Taake and Gorgoroth singer Hoest on bass guitar.
