The future of British metal lies in safe hands with CONJURER, who today have announced their long-awaited new album Páthos, which will be released 1st July 2022 via Nuclear Blast.
Conjurer continue their journey as the country’s most exciting young metal band with the incredible new album. Celebrating the news, the Midlands quartet have also streamed the first single from Páthos, the mighty ‘It Dwells‘.
A triumphant return from Conjurer following their world-renowned 2018 debut Mire, Páthosis a band flexing their creative muscles, deepening their approach and thought, and expanding their sound.
Bassist Conor Marshall comments: “Excited to finally be able to share the album with everyone! I’m sure this is the same for every band trying to release an album during the pandemic but it feels like we’ve been holding on to it for so long, so it’s nice for it to not be my problem any more and to be able to actually talk about it!”
Opener ‘It Dwells’ is the perfect introduction – earth-shatteringly heavy, unconventional, uniquely beautiful, and instantly recognisable as Conjurer. The track is centred on the contradictions of the emotion of ‘fear’ – that fear can be comfortable and constant, haunting and crushing. It builds to a point of breaking – the need to end fear battling against your will to go on. The repeated screams ‘I’ll have peace’ are an ambivalent declaration of defiance – give in, or fight, either way fear is gone.
Of the single, guitarist/vocalist Dan Nightingale states: “I think ‘It Dwells’ is a good introduction to the sound of the record, from the musical influences to the lyrics and how we’ve drawn from what’s been going on in our lives, it’s one of our most personal outings for sure. It’s nice to have been able to step up our game with the music videos for this album as well. Good album. Top track. Boss man.”
Páthosis not an album for the half-hearted or faint-hearted. Elements of Sumac, Gojira, old Mastodon and Oathbreaker, the new record is a multi-layered beast – sludge, death, doom, black metal and hardcore influences clash and collide throughout, all masterfully finished by Will Putney’s exquisite mix and master.
The fifty-minute runtime of Páthosis not without its moments of the sublime, with post-metal nods to Conjurer and Pijn’s acclaimed Curse These Metal Hands project throughout. That a band can be at once so triumphantly beautiful and gut-punchingly heavy is testament to Conjurer’s quality, and a surefire sign of their future longevity at the top of Britain’s heavy music scene.

In anticipation of things to come in 2022, sludgy UK post-metal heavyweights CONJURER are drawing the curtain over yet another frustrating year for live music by releasing a video for the monumental and devastating track “Thankless” from their full length “Mire”. The clip features a collage of frenetic live footage recorded at different festival and club shows, as well as some backstage impressions, and gives you a hint of what you can expect from CONJURER’s eagerly-awaited return to European stages in 2022, which will include a couple of bigger festivals as well as a tour with French blackened post-metallers CELESTE!
“‘We are so thankful to have ‘Thankless’ back online – this video catalogues a band starting to come into their own, our first time playing festivals without being the ‘unknown up and comers’. Captured as always by our main man Joe Guppy.” – CONJURER
CONJURER’s second full-length and follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2018 debut album “Mire” is set to be released in the not too distant future. Stay tuned!
Following a spectacular and long overdue return to the live stage at the Download Festival Pilot last weekend, sludgy UK post-metal heavyweights CONJURER are inviting you to check out the video for “Choke,” the relentless opening track of their last full length album “Mire” (2018). Effortlessly switching from sludge to metallic hardcore, and from progressive post metal to post black metal, this song not only demonstates the musical proficiency of this young band, it also proves that they can’t be pigeonholed no matter how hard you try.
CONJURER’s Conor Marshall (bass) comments: “’Choke’ has become a bit of a fan favourite over the past few years since ‘Mire’ was released and it’s one of ours too. I think the general consensus within the band is still that ‘Choke’ is the “best” Conjurer song that’s been released so far and showcases a lot of what we do. The video loosely follows the lyrical theme of the song, which looks at the way things like “fame” and pressure from society, the industry and the gutter press can affect artists and celebrities. The idea being that the shots of the band in a white room, dressed in suits represents someone being dressed up and pushed out to perform despite them clearly not being in the best state, and them then starting to deteriorate, and the dark, more aggressive shots representing the inner turmoil and struggle.”
CONJURER’s still untitled second full-length and follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2018 debut album “Mire” is set to be released in the not too distant future. Stay tuned!

Sludgy UK post-metal heavyweights CONJURER have signed a worldwide deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Their still untitled second full-length and follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2018 debut album, Mire, is set to be released later this year.
CONJURER‘s Brady Deeprose (guitar & vocals) comments: “Conjurer are extremely excited to partner with Nuclear Blast worldwide for the forthcoming release of our second album. Having spent the last year or so getting to know Monte Conner, we count ourselves lucky to be working with not only a true legend in the world of heavy music, but one who continues to champion exciting, forward-thinking art. We’ve now also been introduced to Barley and the rest of the international team at NB and it’s evident that they understand our mentality and want nothing more than to support and nourish our creativity. In what has been an awful year on so many levels, we are grateful to have found the right home for our music. We look forward to working together with NB to bring you our sophomore album in 2021, and much more in the years to follow.”
Nuclear Blast‘s A&R legend Monte Conner states:“I am thrilled to welcome the mighty Conjurer to the worldwide NB family. I must stress “worldwide” because I originally signed them just for North America, but due to a change in circumstances I got to sign them again, and this time for the WORLD! So, I guess you could say I liked these guys so much that I signed them TWICE! When COVID finally lifts, be sure and see them live as they will absolutely blow you away.”
European A&R at Nuclear Blast, Nathan Barley Phillips, adds:“My first experience of Conjurer playing live was during a cold and miserable night in Milton Keynes in 2016 – I didn’t think there was a band capable of radioactively reheating my bones whilst also matching the utter bleakness of the weather outside. Conjurer achieved it in droves, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Absolutely stoked to serve as European A&R for the band during the next chapter of their career.”
The future of British metal lies in safe hands with CONJURER, who continue their journey as the country’s most exciting young metal band with their signing to Nuclear Blast worldwide.
CONJURER’s debut full-length Mire(2018) was released to a storm of attention from across the metal world, garnering significant acclaim from Metal Hammer UK, Kerrang!, BBC R1, Visions Mag (DE), Metal Obs (FR), MetalSucks, Metal Injection, Loudwire and many more. Recipients of award nominations (Kerrang!, Heavy Music Awards, Metal Hammer’s Golden Gods) and countless albums of the year lists, Mire is a stunning listen, capturing the attitude of a young band who already know exactly who they are.
Hailed as one of the metal world’s most devastating, thrilling experiences, CONJURER are a band never content to rest. Following Mire’s release in 2018 the quartet soon toured Europe for the first time, appeared at multiple UK festivals, and support of doom titans CONAN and WILL HAVEN.
In the following years the band have toured the US twice, supporting RIVERS OF NIHIL (stopping to record an Audiotree session along the way), and then VOIVOD, with REVOCATION. 2019 also saw CONJURER’s debut Download Festival appearance, thrilling a packed-out Dogtooth stage, and the release of the joyous collaborative project with PIJN, titled Curse These Metal Hands. Later in the year a split EP with PALM READER was released, containing two cover songs by each band.
It was only at the end of 2019 that CONJURER closed out their triumphant Mire cycle, with a sold-out UK run – their debut headline tour. Despite Covid-19 preventing live appearances for the majority of 2020 the band have unsurprisingly been busy, writing and recording their highly-anticipated second LP.
Instrumental prog-sludge metallers TELEPATHY have shows to announce, taking them up and down England, including a date with Raging Speedhorn starting a cold November weekender with Midlands-based blackened doomsters Conjurer.
The band have barely stopped touring following their headline European dates and stunning performance at Incubate, including shows with Sloath, Year Of No Light, Oathbreaker and Coilguns under their belt. New bassist Teddy James Driscoll has slotted in perfectly, and the band are steamrollering onwards at a rate of knots.
TELEPATHY’s music is a complex mix, at times post-metal, other times mathy and chaotic, and always sludge-powered. Their records have drawn praise from all quarters, especially last year’s 12 Areas (out on Devouter & Tartarus Records), which caught glowing reviews from Rock Sound, Heavy Blog Is Heavy, MetalRecusants and The Sludgelord among many others.
There’s nothing left to say except, to quote the old road dog Henry Rollins, get in the van! The dates are as as follows:
RIYL: The Ocean, early Mastodon & Baroness, Converge, Russian Circles
Praise for Telepathy:
“Since forming in 2011, Telepathy have been causing quite a stir with their poignant fusion of atmospheric, sludgy tones with progressive song structures and, of course, stonking great riffs.” – Terrorizer
“12 Areas then is a unique beast in the instrumental landscape of 2014: it serves as a whole, a complete journey that takes the listener through various shades of blue. It tackles the challenges of instrumental music, to be interesting and unique but not scattered, with an original approach.” Heavy Blog is Heavy
“A headbanger’s journey from start to finish.” – Rock Sound Magazine
“A unified album distinctly robed in sludge, but with a sound that sounds fresh and present. This is sludge for 2014.” – The Sleeping Shaman
