It is a monumental year for Japanese metalcore band Crystal Lake as they proudly release their long‑awaited seventh studio album “The Weight of Sound”, available now worldwide via Century Media Records.
Packed with 11 tracks, the album captures the quintet at their most dynamic, innovative, and emotionally charged. It is also the first studio album since John took over vocals for the band back in 2023. With 5 tracks having guest performances by various artists, including David Simonich, Jesse Leach, Myke Terry, Taylor Barber and Karl Schubach, the band pushes their typical soundscape further than ever before, balancing razor‑sharp metalcore, crushing deathcore elements, atmospheric electronics, and immersive melodic passages.
Not long to go until Japanese metalcore force Crystal Lake are releasing their 7th album “The Weight of Sound”. Set for a release January 23rd, 2026, via Century Media Records, the band has now unveiled with “Neversleep” another single from the upcoming record. The track, which features Myke Terry from Volumes and Fire From The Gods on vocals, offers one of the darker pieces of the record that showcases the band’s great range of hard-hitting metalcore paired with deathcore elements. Myke Terry’s vocals carry the song’s heaviness alongside John, creating a perfect fusion. “Neversleep” follows on prior released singles “The Weight of Sound”, and “Crossing Nails”, and “BlüdGod”.
Guitarist and founder YD shares about the single: “This track is the one where I poured in the Hardcore/Metal/Punk elements that I’ve carried as my own background to the limit.
It’s simple, but with an extra twist, and at times hybrid arrangements, updating it into the kind of extreme sound that represents the current Crystal Lake.
Every part of the song is made for you to dance, so don’t think too much — just feel it and enjoy.
Stay heavy.”

Japanese metalcore force Crystal Lake have just announced their highly anticipated seventh studio album, “The Weight of Sound”, set for release on January 23rd, 2026, via Century Media Records.
Alongside the release of the album’s title track, Crystal Lake have unveiled a visually striking music video, capturing the raw energy and emotion of the band’s recent live performances. With its powerful blend of vulnerability and hope, the song offers a compelling glimpse into what’s to come – positioning “The Weight of Sound” as the band’s most impactful work to date.
The upcoming album, teased ever since the band joined the label back in 2024, promises to be one of Crystal Lake’s most ambitious projects so far, featuring a diverse lineup of guest artists across the heavy music spectrum. With the likes of Jesse Leach (Killswitch Engage), David Simonich (Signs of the Swarm), Taylor Barber (Seven Hours after Violet), Myke Terry (Fire from the Gods, Volumes), and Karl Schubach (Misery Signals), “The Weight of Sound” is shaping up to be a landmark release in the band’s discography.
Guitarist and founder YD shares about the record and its inspiration:” When I look back, I realize that Crystal Lake has now been active for 23 long years. People often say, “time flies,” but the truth is we’ve carved out countless histories together – with friends, bandmates, and fellow musicians – sharing struggles that drew blood and building this band piece by piece. I have constantly been inspired by the people and the environment around me. To play that music together with comrades-in-arms is what it means to be a band. And the music that band creates has the power to shape a new culture. Our new album The Weight of Sound is a reflection of this way of life. I truly hope you will listen and enjoy it.”
Vocalist John adds about the new title track “The Weight of Sound”:” I wrote this after being gone from home for a long period and it mirrors those emotions of being on tour for a majority of the year – you are quite literally never there for the people you love when they need you. So people don’t always believe in your struggle and there is a lot of doubt from all sides. But I believe in myself and this life. I’ll carry the weight of sound forever. The song is probably my favorite song lyric wise from the album. As the saying goes: “They only believe in you at the top of the mountain. You’re a fool along the way.”

Japanese metalcore force Crystal Lake have returned with their newest single “Crossing Nails”, which marks the band’s first release this year and the second single since signing globally to Century Media Records last year in May. Currently tearing through Europe on a string of festival appearances and exclusive headliner shows, “Crossing Nails” delivers a blistering nu-metal anthem. The single comes not just with a striking visualizer, but also along with the band’s album announcement for January 2026. The yet unnamed record will be Crystal Lake’s first album release since “Helix”, released back in 2019. Fans and new audiences alike can expect more announcements regarding the album to follow in the upcoming months, alongside new music by the quintet.
Vocalist John shares about “Crossing Nails”: “I have a very love//hate relationship with God and the church. Growing up in a super religious household + going to 2 Catholic schools – I saw first hand how they use God as a weapon of control. I needed people to be there for me. To save me from myself. To love me.. and they were never there. They made me fear & hate something I should have loved. Fear is not love. Hate is not power. Control is not faith. Believe in YOURSELF. Love YOURSELF. Control YOURSELF. Faith is not a weapon – it’s peace. Crossing Nails”
Guitarist YD adds: “With this track, we’ve kept the heaviness that’s always been core to our sound, but brought the straight, speedy riff work to the forefront and wrapped the whole song in a more catchy structure. We also experimented with rhythmic and groove elements that haven’t really appeared in Crystal Lake’s music before, allowing us to explore a new kind of expression. By blending parts of my personal musical background into the song in a playful way, I think we managed to mix that classic hardcore and metal vibe in a fresh and exciting form.
“Crossing Nails” is a new kind of hybrid song that combines explosive live energy with a strong sense of unity everyone can enjoy.
Hope you feel that when you hear it!”
Crystal Lake have been touring extensively throughout the year with their latest stops happening in Europe as part of their summer headline shows for this year. The band will continue their European run in August with a total of 6 headliner shows in Germany, Denmark, and The Netherlands. The band will be joined by Angelmaker.

Crystal Lake has won over fans worldwide with an unequalled live show and an infectious brand of metalcore that weaves together tight riffs, gleaming production and screaming melodies along with guttural and impassioned vocals that both roar and soar. Releasing records internationally since 2014 on labels including Sharptone and Artery, Crystal Lake has become a fixture on the worldwide stage – and it feels like they are now only getting started. The band released their striking single “BlüdGod” (feat. Taylor Barber) May 2024 to commence the global signing to label Century Media Records, an important step for the band as shared by founder, songwriter, and guitarist Yudai “YD” Miyamoto: “We grew up on many Century Media bands. We love its history and are happy to be part of that and make new history.”
Crystal Lake is currently working on its Century Media full-length debut, due for release in early 2026. The record will mark the album debut of vocalist John Robert Centorrino, formerly of New Jersey deathcore band, Last Ten Seconds of Life. Centorrino made his debut with Crystal Lake in 2023, his first appearance with the band being Knotfest Japan in March 2023, followed by an extensive US tour supporting August Burns Red the same year. Now, the Japanese force is poised to take their next step with their new album expected for January 2026.

Japan’s biggest metal export in years, CRYSTAL LAKE, has dropped a visually stunning new video for their latest single “Devilcry”. The song is featured on the band’s newly released album, Helix, that’s available everywhere now from SharpTone Records.
“It’s a sad song. We wanted to describe musically how our perception of death changes as technology and science make progress. I was lyrically inspired by Kübler-Ross’s the five stages of grief. At first, we can’t accept the death of loved ones, but the time surely comes when we have to accept it.” – Ryo
