The fifth DANZIG studio album, BLACKACIDEVIL, is finally coming to vinyl! Following in the wake of an extensive personnel restructuring as well as a new label partnership for the band, the album made a deliberate stylistic shift incorporating elements of industrial and electronic music. BLACKACIDEVIL also brought in some fresh new blood in the form of drummer Joey Castillo (later of Queens Of The Stone Age), keyboardist Joseph Bishara (now one of the preeminent horror film scorers working today) and some stellar contributions from Alice In Chains’ axeman Jerry Cantrell who plays guitar on 3 of the album’s tracks. Since its initial release in 1996, the album has since gained a strong reputation as both a groundbreaking and necessary experiment that succeeded in bringing the Danzig legacy into the new millennium.
Now this important album will be getting the deluxe vinyl treatment courtesy of Cleopatra Records. Presented in 3 different vinyl configurations including silver, black & white haze, 180-gram, picture disc and glitter, BLACKACIDEVIL is finally receiving the respect it both deserves and commands.
Danzig had this to say about the release “I’m happy to see BLACKACIDEVIL getting the vinyl treatment after all these years.”
The album will also be available in a special limited edition CD version which features an all black o-card covering a jewel case with full lyric booklet!
“Black Laden Crown”, 50 minutes of long awaited brand new DANZIG music, will be released on May 12th, via AFM Records.
Following on his historic reunion with the classic Misfits lineup attended by record numbers at last year’s Riot Fest in Denver and Chicago as well as the recent confirmation of a headlining set at this year’s Blackest Of The Black festival… Glenn Danzig has now confirmed the title and release date of first DANZIG album of all new material since 2010’s widely acclaimed “DETH RED SABAOTH”:
The details of “Black Laden Crown” follow on the announcement of DANZIG’s Blackest of the Black Festival: Two days of non-stop music and mayhem taking place at Oak Canyon Park in Silverado, CA on May 26th and 27th. Danzig will close the festivities May 27th, headlining a bill featuring more than 20 artists playing amidst a full scale takeover and transformation of the park grounds featuring literally dozens of attractions, vendors, performers, and other surprises musical and otherwise.
Blackest Of The Black promises to create a site-wide atmosphere like no festival before or since. A full rundown of performers and attractions will be announced shortly. Check BlackestFest.com for tickets, news, and further details as they are confirmed.
Additionally, this summer marks the 25th Anniversary of the classic “DANZIG III: HOW THE GODS KILL”. Produced by Danzig himself and featuring the unforgettable cover adorned by H.R. Giger’s Meister und Margeritha (The Master and Margarita), “HOW THE GODS KILL” was the first DANZIG album to crack Billboard’s Top 30 and inspired Rolling Stone to rave in its review at the time, “Rock is alarmingly short of visionaries these days; Danzig is the genuine article.”
DANZIG will be performing a limited number of shows this summer, commemorating the occasion with live performances of numerous songs from “HOW THE GODS KILL”.

Metal Blade Records is proud to announce the worldwide signing of the hardcore punk unit BLOODCLOT.
BLOODCLOT is a project featuring true hardcore pioneers: John Joseph of the Cro-Mags, plus former members of Queens of the Stone Age (Joey Castillo, drums; Nick Oliveri, bass), and Danzig (Todd Youth, guitar). While being the leader of one of the most influential hardcore bands of all time – the Cro-Mags – John Joseph is also an author, an outspoken advocate of plant-based nutrition, and a competitive Ironman tri-athlete. Todd Youth – who played in Agnostic Front at the age of 12 – has played guitar with a myriad of artists, including Danzig, Glen Campbell, Motorhead, Ace Frehley, and many more. Additionally, Nick Oliveri has played bass in Queens of the Stone Age, alongside one of the most sought-after drummers in the scene, Joey Castillo – who has also sat behind the kit for Danzig and Eagles Of Death Metal.
These four renowned musicians came together when Cro-Mags guitarist AJ Novello was unable to play a show, and John Joseph called Todd Youth to fill-in for him. The two rekindled their friendship and enjoyed playing together so much that a decision was made to re-form Bloodclot (whose origins date back to a 1981 Bad Brains tour). Todd began the songwriting process, and soon after, Joey Castillo and Nick Oliveri were recruited to join the band. With the new line-up in place, and songs to record, Metal Blade Records CEO Brian Slagel offered Bloodclot a worldwide deal.
In regards to the signing, Brian Slagel comments: “Super excited to be working with these legends! The material is fresh and what you would expect from such an amazing group! Thanks to Tal Ronnen of Crossroads Kitchen for his help on this too!”
Michael Alago – a former record label A&R executive and talent scout for over 24 years – also helped facilitate this new partnership, as Bloodclot‘s manager. Having earned the respect of the industry for his expertise in a wide variety of musical genres, Alago was responsible for signing Metallica, White Zombie, Alan Vega, Johnny Rotten (with his band Public Image, Ltd.), Cyndi Lauper, Nina Simone (for whom he also acted as Executive Producer on the acclaimed album, A Single Woman), among many other artists. Now, Bloodclot joins that repertoire, as his latest celebrated signing.
Bloodclot plans to release their upcoming album, Up In Arms, in spring 2017, with worldwide touring to follow. Stay tuned for more details coming soon!
Bloodclot line-up:
John Joseph (Cro-Mags) – Vocals
Todd Youth (ex-Danzig) – Guitars
Nick Oliveri (ex-Queens of the Stone Age) – Bass
Joey Castillo (ex-Queens of the Stone Age, ex-Danzig) – Drums
You know it’s DANZIG the moment you hear him, states Nuclear Blast. It’s not just that inimitable voice either. It’s the thick airy guitars, bluesy swagger, and “come hither” evil that placed him at the forefront of a number of musical revolutions. His work has indelibly impacted the landscape of extreme music, fortifying the crossroads between heavy riffs and occult imagery so prevalent these days. Moreover, you can consistently feel his presence throughout pop culture which expands further with his successful Verotik Comics and forthcoming feature film directorial debut. However, DANZIG wants to show you where it started with his tenth full-length album and first since 2010’s “Deth Red Saboath”—“Skeletons”. Due out on November 27 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment/Evilive Records the album is now will be available for pre-order: http://nblast.de/DanzigSkeletonsNB.
Check out Nuclear Blast’s teaser trailer for the release below:
A labor of love that began in 1979, he pulls back the curtain behind his influences with a collection of ten covers spanning artists as diverse as Elvis Presley, ZZ Top, and Aerosmith to Black Sabbath, The Troggs, The Everly Brothers, and more. Recording across several years in Los Angeles, he quite literally reveals the bone structure for his own style and features some of the most striking album art of his career. Nodding to David Bowie’s Pin Ups, the cover features Danzig and model Kayden Kross in skullface.
“These are my skeletons,” he affirms. “You may or may not know that I dig these songs. You could say that some of this music is the actual basis and skeleton of what I listened to growing up—ultimately informing the kind of music I like. It’s the foundation. If you took Elvis and Sabbath out of my life, I probably wouldn’t be the Glenn Danzig you know! I’m glad both sides are represented on this record.”
Among the tracks, he takes Presley’s “Let Yourself Go” from the film Speedway and transforms it with a swinging distorted stomp and bluesy vocal crescendo. “I thought it was a song I could do something really cool with,” he goes on. “It’s also something that I didn’t think anyone would necessarily expect. When you tell them you’re going to do an Elvis cover, they expect something they know. Not a lot of people know this one. It’s actually on The ’68 Comeback Special, and it’s worth going back to.”
The Troggs “A Girl Like You” becomes a punkified juggernaut in his hands with its fuzzed-out guitars, pounding drums and the trademark Danzig sing-a-long choruses. He captures the rebellious spirit of the sixties outlaw biker films with a punked-out take on “Devil’s Angels” from the Devil’s Angels Soundtrack complete with his old school Misfits Dallas Arbiter Jumbo-Fuzz Pedal. Regarding “Satan” from Satan’s Sadists, Danzig assures, “You might be surprised, but I didn’t change any of the lyrics. I didn’t have to!”
Ultimately, Skeletons sparks the next phase for Danzig. Helping catalyze his next full-length offering and tour plans, it’s yet another revolution. “I hope people dig it,” he leaves off. “I also hope it gives everybody a little bit of insight into the music I listen to and maybe an insight into how I did the songs. If you enjoy it, that’s great.”
No matter what, you’ll know it’s undeniably him the moment you press play.

Glenn Danzig (Danzig, Misfits, Samhain) is on the road this fall with his very own The Blackest of the Black Tour. A long-standing tour that he first launched in 2003, The Blackest of the Black Tour 2015 features Danzig as well as Superjoint with Phil Anselmo, Veil of Maya, Prong, and Witch Mountain. Hitting cities not visited on Danzig’s recent summer tour, these dates will also include markets the band has not played in many years including Memphis, New Orleans, Birmingham, and Portland, Maine. He will also be joining Rob Zombie in Las Vegas for a performance on October 30.
While in Memphis on October 7, Danzig stopped by the local SiriusXM studio at Graceland and took over the Elvis channel for a live broadcast sharing his cover of “Let Yourself Go” as well as his favorite Elvis songs. The show is being rebroadcasted through the year-end.
