Suitable sized, Finland’s most spontaneous and individual little big Metal event Dark River Festival takes place 8.-10.8.2024 in Kotka Finland. Exodus, Mokoma, Mushroomhead, Gaerea, Bloodred Hourglass, Warmen, Carach Angren, Marianas Rest, Kaunis Kuolematon and Havukruunu are now joined by top names like Katatonia, Mnemic, Before The Dawn, Kiuas, Omnivortex, Atlases, I Am Your God and Domination Black.

Celebrating their twenties, in addition to the event itself are also two bands who released their debut albums in 2004: melodic progmetal group Manitou, led by Markus Vanhala (Insomnium/Omnium Gatherum), and Danish modern metal cult band Mnemic, who are making a comeback with their original line-up!

Year after year breaking it’s own attendance records and fascinating with wide variety of metal genres, the festival again invites all the headbangers to the woods of Honkala for a summer’s end celebration like no other. Festival’s development & moderate growth continues, but we are not planning to lose any of that Heartwarming Atmosphere Dark River is known for. Next summer Honkala will feature the most famous grief bearer of atmospheric metal Katatonia, the Bay Area Thrash Metal legend Exodus, the Cleveland-based alternative metal mask patrol Mushroomhead, the futuristic djent metal cult band Mnemic returning to the stages with it’s original line-up, Finland’s album chart phenomenom Dutch black metal band Carach Angren, Children Of Bodom-keyboardist Janne Wirman’s Warmen who made a spectacular comeback, Finnish thrash legends Mokoma, Tuomas Saukkonen’s melodic death metal masterpiece Before The Dawn, surmacore-mainiacs Rytmihäiriö, the hottest name in domestic melodeath right now Bloodred Hourglass, Gaerea, violently shaking the traditions of black metal and the supercharged heavy metal powerhouse Kiuas.

Also delivering the goods next August: first ever Dark River Festival -performers Manitou and Domination Black, the melodic death metal group Marianas Rest that achieved critical and chart success with their fourth album last spring, the melancholic doom metal fan favorite Kaunis Kuolematon, right-wing values persistently favoring bourgeois-core quartet Bob Malmstörm trampling on the rights of the poor for almost fifteen years, the hottest cult band in pagan black metal Havukruunu, the melodic death metal comet bringing nuclear winter in the middle of summer Suotana, melodic doom metal masters Hanging Garden, extreme metal colossus Assemble The Chariots, symphonic death metal mayhem Brymir, professors for perfect combination of technicality and atmosphere Atlases, last summer’s Wacken Metal Battle -winner Omivortex and I Am Your God, wreaking havoc in the footsteps of domestic melodeath legends.
