Northern Ireland’s DARKEST ERA have released a lyric video for ‘Sorrow’s Boundless Realm,’ the first track from the band’s forthcoming new album ‘Severance’ which is due for release on June 13th via Cruz Del Sur.
Guitarist Ade Mulgrew said: “It’s quite a dark song and probably reflective of how some of us saw the world around us when this album was being written. There was a lot going on in the band at the time and it certainly came out in the music. We also recorded it in the middle of winter against a backdrop that moved from being immensely beautiful on the rare occasions when the sun shined, to very bleak and desolate when the clouds rolled in. That definitely helped shape the vibe on this song. We’re looking forward to letting people finally hear it.”
Check out the video below:

DARKEST ERA has announced a very special late night performance at Ireland’s biggest metal club night, Dublin’s Club Poison, on Thursday September 20, 2012. The show is as a warm-up for the band’s 16 date European tour with Russian Folk Metal titans Arkona which kicks off at the end of this month.
Darkest Era guitarist Ade Mulgrew said: “This is going to be a really killer show and a great way to warm-up for the tour. We’re doing an Axl Rose and not hitting the stage until well after midnight, by which time the Poison faithful should rearing to go and ready to help us tear the place apart. There’s such a great vibe around Dublin right now about Club Poison and we’re really excited about hitting the place while it’s so hot.”

Darkest Era’s first ever European Tour (supporting Arkona) kicks off in the Czech Republic on September 27, 2012 and will see the band play 16 shows in 10 countries.
Club Poison is Ireland’s Biggest Metal night and takes place every Thursday at Andrew’s Lane Theatre, Dublin 2, between 10pm and 3am. Entry on September 10th is €5 before 11 and €7 after. Check Club Poison’s Facebook page for more info: www.facebook.com/pages/Club-Poison-Dublin…/248713655212347

UK tour with Alestorm kicks off February 4th
Ireland’s Darkest Era has partnered up with BloodyDisgusting.com to debut their new video for An Ancient Fire Burns. The song comes from their debut album, The Last Caress of Light, which was highlighted in Decibel’s Top 40 Extreme Albums of 2011. The video features a grim story with a surprise ending and is as melancholy and emotional as the band’s music and was directed by Kieran Majury with Fastville Productions.
Watch An Ancient Fire Burns now HERE.
Comments guitarist Ade Mulgrew: “An Ancient Fire Burns is a song about primal instincts and desire; and in this video we used a narrative that we really hope will grip people. It’s an old school buried-alive-in-coffin concept that compliments the themes in the song. We also shot the band’s performance by torchlight in a 1000 year old monastery, once plundered by Vikings. It was a great setting and really adds to the atmosphere in the video.”

The Last Caress of Light was recorded at Foel Studios in Wales at the end of August 2010 with producer Chris Fielding. The result are eight tracks of dark, stormy, epic Celtic Metal with which mix the melancholy and atmosphere of Irish Folk with the epic might of heavy metal bands such as Warlord, Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy. The album stands out from all else as a record of intense emotional power and honesty; holding the listener within a dark heavy metal storm and not letting go until the last chords have rung out.

DARKEST ERA have been added to ALESTORM’s Useless Drunken Bastards UK and Ireland tour in February 2012!
Guitarist Ade Mulgrew comments: “We are really looking forward to hitting the road around the UK with Alestorm on what should be a crazy couple of weeks. It’s our first proper tour so a really big deal for us. Most of the cities involved are ones we’ve never been to before so it’s going to be cool seeing new places and meeting new people. What we are most looking forward to however, is getting to play live so many nights in a row – we’re at our best live and we can’t wait to unleash our full heavy metal torrent across the UK at last!”
The tour kicks off in Plymouth and zigzags all over the country before finishing up in Norwich’s Waterfront two weeks later. Catch them here:
