SACRED REICH Announce The Return Of Dave McClain

Phoenix-based thrash icons, SACRED REICH, are thrilled to announce the return of former drummer Dave McClain to their ranks, following his departure from Bay Area Metal outfit Machine Head last month after 23 years on the drum throne. Before joining Machine Head, McClain played drums for SACRED REICH for four years between 1991 and 1995.

SACRED REICH‘s frontman and bassist, Phil Rind comments: “It is with great pleasure that we announce that Dave McClain is once again a member of SACRED REICH! This was the best case scenario that we could have hoped for. Dave is the best! A great drummer and a great person and we are beyond excited to welcome him back to the band. We’re headed into the studio in February and can’t wait for you all to hear our new record due in the Summer of 2019!“

Dave echoes the sentiment, stating “I’m so excited about re-joining my brothers in Sacred Reich. To have the opportunity to make and play music with one of my favorite metal bands was always something I hoped could happen. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the new album that we’re recording in February and to come see us out on the road in 2019-2020.“

As well as new album plans for 2019 through Metal Blade, SACRED REICH are currently planning their live schedule for next year and into 2020. Stay tuned for more news from the Reich soon.

MACHINE HEAD Drummer Ties The Knot

Congratulations are in order for MACHINE HEAD drummer Dave McClain, who just married his Australian girlfriend Belle. The couple live in Alameda, California.

This is the second marriage for McClain, a former member of Arizona thrashers SACRED REICH who joined MACHINE HEAD in 1995 following the departure of Chris Kontos.

In a January 2012 interview with Examiner.com, McClain stated about the touring life: “Personally, I love it. It’s been part of my life for 21 years now, so I love pretty much everything about being out [on the road]. Doing shows, hanging out and doing our thing and doing what we love, it’s a good life.”

He continued: “When I’m stuck at home for some time, that’s when I start feeling a little caged up or something, but not really being in the studio. As long as we’re doing something band-related… I used to kind of just learn to like everything about it. It’s cool if you’re recording, just soak everything in and get back on the road. And that’s when the fun begins.”

MACHINE HEAD will enter the studio later this year to begin recording the follow-up to 2011’s “Unto The Locust” for an early 2014 release.

Pop Culture Madness magazine conducted an interview with drummer Dave McClain of San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD on February 2 at the Trocadero in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. You can now watch the chat below.

MACHINE HEAD is currently taking part in a North American headlining with support from SUICIDE SILENCE and DARKEST HOUR.

MACHINE HEAD‘s new album, “Unto The Locust”, sold more than 17,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 22 on The Billboard 200 chart — putting MACHINE HEAD in the Top 25 for the first time in the band’s 17-year history.

MACHINE HEAD has consistently averaged more than 100,000 copies sold in the U.S. for each of its seven albums and has shifted double that overseas (accruing several silver records in the U.K.), resulting in cumulative worldwide sales of more than 2.4 million.

MACHINE HEAD‘s previous CD, “The Blackening”, opened with just under 15,000 units back in April 2007 to debut at No. 54 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band’s 2004 effort, “Through The Ashes Of Empires”, premiered with less than 12,000 copies to land at No. 88.
