VIOLENT JOURNEY has issued the following:

Finnish death metallers Sadistik Forest will release their second album Death, Doom Radiation on March 21^st 2012 via Violent Journey Records. Album is produced by Samu Männikkö (Se, josta ei puhuta) and artwork of the album is made by legendary artist Juha Vuorma (Autopsy, Edge of Sanity, Usurper etc.).

”Death, Doom, Radiation is a big step ahead for us”, says vocalist/bass player Markus Makkonen. “Matti (Salo, guitar) was now along through the whole creative process and his input was crucial while making Death, Doom, Radiation the monster it is. He brought along more individual sound, musicianship and wider musical vision, so the new one will definitely surprise some people.”

Sadistik Forest will celebrate the release of their new album by playing a headliner set in Helsinki, March 23^rd 2012.

DEATH – Preview Every Song From Vivus!

On February 28th in North America, March 2nd in the Benelux / Germany, and March 5th in the UK and rest of Europe, Relapse Records will issue a deluxe live 2CD DEATH collection featuring two separate Death concerts, titled Vivus!

Each of the 24 songs featured on Vivus! can now be previewed on iTunes.

Both shows contained on Vivus! were recorded in 1998. Disc one features the band at the height of their prowess tearing the roof off of the infamous Whisky A Go Go in Los Angeles, while disc two is a brilliant recording of the band on the festival stage at Dynamo Open Air.

This collection will contain extensive liner notes from Death insiders and never-before-seen photos of the band.

The next chapter in Relapse’s DEATH reissue campaign is “Vivus!”, a deluxe two-CD collection compiling two separate DEATH concerts, both of which were recorded in 1998. Disc One features the band at the height of its prowess, tearing the roof off the infamous Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, California, while Disc Two is a brilliant recording of the band on the festival stage at Dynamo Open Air in Eindhoven, Holland.

In remembrance of Chuck Schuldiner, who passed away 10 years ago on December 13th 2001, we celebrate the amazing amount of quality music he left behind.

As a tribute, I dug up an old rehearsal tape in my parents’ garage today of me playing a cover of Death’s classic song ‘Lack of Comprehension’ in 1996 together with Dirk Verbeuren on drums and my buddy Ed Martin on vocals and bass. The nostalgic value of this recording is vastly higher than its actual quality, but what can you expect from a bunch of 17/18 year olds recording a rehearsal with one microphone on a boombox …

DEATH’s ‘Individual Thought Patterns’ Reissue: First-Week Sales Revealed

The reissue of DEATH classic 1993 album “Individual Thought Patterns” sold around 700 copies in the United States in its first week of release. Remixed and remastered by Alan Douches, the LP was re-released on October 25 as a deluxe three-disc set, a two-disc standard set, and a deluxe digital download. The album was re-packaged with extensive liner notes from drummer Gene Hoglan and includes a second and third bonus disc worth of previously unreleased demos plus a full live set recorded in Germany during a 1993 European tour. Also included on the third bonus disc exclusive to this reissue are rare riff tracks from the Chuck Schuldiner archives.
