It’s been relatively quiet in camp DEAD LORD lately, but today they’re proud to release their brand – new single “Distance Over Time”. Be sure to check out the video HERE!
The single is available as a transparent orange 7’’ vinyl record and digitally on all steaming platforms. You can order your very own copy HERE!
“Distance Over Time” is the first single taken off Dead Lord’s upcoming studio album “Surrender”, which is expected to be released in September via Century Media Records.
Dead Lord checked in with the following statement: “We are done recording our 4th album, (titled “Surrender”), which we immortalized for the infinite ages together with Robert Pehrsson (Robert Pehrsson’s Humbucker, Death Breath, Dundertåget/Thunder Express etc.) in his Studio Humbucker, in Stockholm. In our very humble opinion, it’s our best album to date and we’re stoked to say that the album came out more face-meltingly awesome than we could ever have hoped for. The album is conceived, written and performed by Hakim Krim on lead, heart-wrenching, wailing vocals and screaming electric guitar, ripe with juicy ferocity; Martin Nordin on mid-range-madness-guitar and harmonious and angel-like backing vocals; and Adam Lindmark on the mayhem-like pandemonious expression of the animalistic instincts that are the drums. The thunderous low-range-groove-duty of the electric bass guitar was shared between Mr. Krim and Mr. Nordin for ultimate rockage. Dead Lord has parted ways with previous guitarist Olle Hedenström, and we wish him well in his future endeavors.
With Martin permanently taking up the electric guitar in Dead Lord from now on, we’d like to welcome Mr. Ryan Kemp as full-time member of Dead Lord as the new bass-man. Ryan is imported from the continent that evolution seems to completely have left to its own devices, namely the golden shores of mythical Australia. We’re stoked to have him on board, and can’t wait to get back on the road. Rock stages all over the world are overdue for a good face-melting!
Keep an eye out for more details regarding the album and tour dates.”

Stockholm’s premium rock ‘n’ roll export, DEAD LORD, are set to release a new single, “Distance Over Time”, on May 15th, 2020. The song acts as an appetizer for their upcoming 4th, as of yet untitled studio album, to be released in August via Century Media Records.
And oh boy, are we in for a treat – “Distance Over Time”, a cheerful up-tempo anthem, has it all: The addictive twin guitar leads, the melodramatic yet uplifting vocals, an irresistible catchy chorus and an in-your-face production, topped off with a fist-bump and butt-shake inducing swagger. The single, just as the upcoming album, was produced by Robert Pehrsson. The single’s B-side will be a live-recording of the Dead Lord song “They!”.
Dead Lord checked in as follows: “Fellow rock connoisseurs! As you may have noticed, we recently finished recording our fourth and spiciest studio album. We had a few weeks of face meltage at Robert Pehrsson’s Studio Humbucker, which turned out even more face-melting than we had ever thought possible. The album will be out this fall, but to not keep you starved of rockage in these dire times of non-socializing, we will perscribe you a healthy dose of 7” vinyl rock action for you all to enjoy. “Distance Over Time” is the first track off the new album and the B-side features a live version of “They!” recorded at our favorite venue, the mighty Immerhin Würzburg, sometime back in 2017. Keep banging your heads in your quarantine caves, and we’ll be back on the road sooner than you know…”
“Distance Over Time” will be available as a digital single on streaming and download platforms as well as a strictly limited 7’’ vinyl single in the transparent orange colour with a total of 500x units made.

DREAM THEATER guitarist John Petrucci previously commented, “The response to Distance Over Time has been overwhelmingly positive and we are really looking forward to playing some of the songs from that album live for our European audiences in an ‘Evening With’ setting along with our full headlining show production.
For those of you who were there when we premiered Scenes From A Memory live in Europe 20 years ago, this will not only be a trip down memory lane but also the chance to see it presented in a completely new light and the way it was always intended to be. Our updated presentation has all-new animated video content depicting the characters and storyline through the entire show as they’ve never been ‘scene’ before!
For those of our fans who were either not born yet, too young, or had not yet been introduced to DT 20 years ago, this will be a fresh opportunity to experience Scenes live for the first time in its entirety. We can’t wait to perform for all of you!”

Two-time Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans DREAM THEATER have released another song from their recently announced 14th studio album, Distance Over Time. “Fall Into The Light” is the second new song from the album slated for worldwide release on February 22, 2019, via Inside Out Music. The new song builds upon the excitement that the band created in December with the release of the first track from Distance Over Time, “Untethered Angel,” that has been viewed over 1.5 million times in 4 weeks since its release. “Fall Into The Light” is a riff-driven, epic musical experience that takes the listener on a 7-minute emotional journey, something Dream Theater does all too well. The video for “Fall Into The Light” can be seen here:
“‘Fall Into The Light’ is about the quest towards enlightenment that exists in life,” explains bassist John Myung. “It is more about the underlying themes of life’s journey and less about what happens once you get there. It is a song of introspection; about looking inside to find your individual happiness.”
Distance Over Time showcases a newfound creativity for Dream Theater while maintaining the elements that have garnered them devoted fans around the globe. The album also marks the first for the band’s new label InsideOutMusic / Sony Music. The artwork was created by long-time cover collaborator Hugh Syme (Rush, Iron Maiden, Stone Sour). Distance Over Time was produced by John Petrucci, mixed by Ben Grosse and mastered by Tom Baker.

Progressive metal pioneers Dream Theater — James LaBrie (Vocals), John Petrucci (Guitars), Jordan Rudess (Keyboards), John Myung (Bass), and Mike Mangini (Drums) — share a unique bond with one of the most passionate fan bases around the globe as evidenced by their two GRAMMY® Award nominations and 15 million records sold worldwide. The 1992 opus Images & Words received a gold certification and landed on Rolling Stone’s coveted “100 Greatest Metal Albums of All-Time”. Guitar World placed the follow-up Awake at #1 on “Superunknown: 50 Iconic Albums That Defined 1994”. 1996’s A Change of Seasons notably soundtracked NBC’s coverage of Downhill Skiing at the 2002 Winter Olympics. Fans voted the 1999 Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes from a Memory the “Number One All-Time Progressive Rock Album” in a 2012 Rolling Stone poll. Not to mention, it ranked as the “15th Greatest Concept Album” by Classic Rock. 2009 saw Black Clouds & Silver Linings crash the Billboard Top 200 at #6 as A Dramatic Turn of Events [2011] and Dream Theater [2013] maintained a three-peat in the chart’s Top 10. Consequence of Sound dubbed 2016’s The Astonishing, “An absolutely unique experience.” Beyond three platinum and two gold videos, the group was inducted into the Long Island Music Hall of Fame in 2010. On its 14th full-length and first release for InsideOutMusic / Sony Music, Distance Over Time, the band recharge the brotherhood that has kept them creating music together for over 30 years. Two-time Grammy-nominated and millions-selling progressive music titans Dream Theater have released the first song from their recently announced 14th studio album, Distance Over Time. “Untethered Angel” is the first new song from the album slated for worldwide release on 22nd February, 2019. The new single is quintessential Dream Theater and takes the listener on a musical journey that cements the band’s place as the premier progressive metal band around today.
Watch the video for the new single here:
“During the writing and recording process of D/T, ‘Untethered Angel’ was known as ‘Song 4’ to all of us as it was the 4th song written during the sessions. However, there has always been something about this track that just begged for it to be the album opener, even long before all of the songs were written,” explains John Petrucci. “Fear is something that rears it’s ugly head at some point or another in all of our lives. Fear of the unknown, fear of taking chances, fear of making mistakes. If we are not careful, it can be debilitating and sadly prevent us from realizing our true potential. The world we live in can be a scary place and the thought of an uncertain future a terrifying notion, especially for today’s young people. Untethering from that fear and giving yourself up to the future’s countless possibilities is what will ultimately set you free.’”

In June 2018, Dream Theater secluded themselves in a private location in upstate New York to begin writing for the new record. While spending the summer living together in the property’s adjacent residence, the band spent their days and nights crafting the music that would make up the new album in the ‘Yonderbarn’; a beautiful and spacious barn that had been meticulously transformed into a state-of-the art film and recording studio. Following an intense & extremely productive period of group writing sessions and wanting to retain the magic that was captured in this scenic and inspiring location, they decided to record the album in the very room they had all convened to write together in. Living together during the writing and recording for Distance Over Time marked another first for the band’s 33-year career. The result is a heavier collection of songs that showcases the early roots of the band while exploring new territory as musicians and as friends.

Now they are pleased to launch the first in a series of 3 in-the-studio video interviews, where the entire band sat down and discussed how the album came together. Watch the first one here:
“When I listen back to the album, I can distinctly recall every moment of the writing process; where I was standing in the room, what inspired us in that instant and the meaning behind each song. As a producer, my goal was to try and create the best-sounding Dream Theater record we’ve ever made so that listeners can just be enveloped in the music. I really wanted this recording to truly reflect the spirit, joy and passion that went into making the album and for people to walk away feeling some of the organic nature, personality and raw energy that the band captured while together in the studio. For me, I think it accomplishes that and I hope that other people will feel the same way,” explains John Petrucci.

It has been 3 years since Dream Theater released new music. To announce the details of the brand new album, Dream Theater enlisted the help of one lucky contest winner to break the news of the record to the loyal fans of the band. An Alternate Reality Game was launched that encompassed a “treasure hunt” whereby fans were able to search for clues hidden in various photos, videos, social media posts, and more. Ultimately, one lucky winner was given access to content before everyone else including the release date and cover artwork, and the winner would be the one to share the first taste of never before heard music.
