DRACONIAN Announce New Epos “Under a Godless Veil“

Almost five years after the release of their latest long-player Sovran, DRACONIAN cast their engulfing veil of melancholy over the world once again and announce the release of their new epos, Under A Godless Veil, out October 30, 2020 via Napalm Records.

The upcoming full-length delivers a captivating mélange of dreary doom and contrasting vocals and is already the second offer featuring the stunning singer Heike Langhans: The mix of Heike’s angelic, female voice and Anders Jacobsson’s thrilling death growls will drag the listener into a sorrowful cosmos. Already the first notes of the opener will draw you into the void of interweaving beauty, coalescing with paralyzing depression that leaves nothing but the desire of total immersion in the whole record. Under A Godless Veil carries the legacy of gothic doom metal à la My Dying Bride into a new decade of the genre.

DRACONIAN states:
„To us, Under A Godless Veil is by far the most diverse album we have created. Inspired by some of the music closest to Johan’s heart; everything from traditional Doom to scaled-down, Gothic rock-inspired pieces and more. Some will perhaps describe the songs as more refined and meditative. Some ambient elements have been added to the mix without overshadowing the traditional characteristics that are DRACONIAN.

Resonating with the compositions, Anders’s lyrical direction is ambiguous and a progression of the first two-three albums, yet more subtle while embracing the Gnostic philosophy more directly. One could say Under A Godless Veil is an act of contemplation; About living and dying and remembering who we are in a strange, abrasive world far from home.“

ROCKHARZ 2016: Announce Line-Up Changes

Doom Metallers DRACONIAN sadly had to cancel their show at ROCKHARZ (find the full statement here) but the organizers already announced a replacement. One of Germany’s hottest Power Metallers, WINTERSTORM, will attend the Harz Mountains and most likely they will bring some new songs from their upcoming album “Cube Of Infinity” (to be released by NoiseArt Records on August 19th 2016).

The first bands are already being booked, so fasten your seat belts as DRACONIAN, SHINING and THE DEVIL are already announced  to destroy Winter Days of Metal 2017! This is just beginning so stay tuned. More killer bands to be announced soon.

Swedish Gothic Metallers DRACONIAN are back with a new masterpiece record! Today the sextet has unveiled highly anticipated details of the upcoming studio album entitled Sovran, set to be released on October, 30th via Napalm Records.

Sovran is going to enthrall with good old DRACONIAN stuff! The formation revolving around top-notch frontman Anders Jacobsson and new singer Heike Langhans delivers first-class songs that continue to prove the band’s supremacy within the darkly genre!

DRACONIAN: ‘A Rose For The Apocalypse’ Track Listing Unveiled

Swedish gothic/doom metal band DRACONIAN will release its new album, “A Rose For The Apocalypse”, on June 24 via Napalm Records. The cover artwork was created by Seth Siron Anton (PARADISE LOST, KAMELOT, ROTTING CHRIST, MOONSPELL) and can be seen below. A limited digipack version of the CD with one bonus song will also be made available.

A new DRACONIAN track, “The Last Hour Of Ancient Sunlight”, is featured on Napalm Records‘ free sampler “Nothing Burns Like Napalm”, which also includes music from ALESTORM, LEAVES’ EYES, KAMPFAR, STREAM OF PASSION and TÝR, among others.

DRACONIAN vocalist Anders Jacobsson previously stated about “A Rose For The Apocalypse”, “Jens Bogren of Fascination Street [studios in Örebro, Sweden] sprinkled his magic over the songs during the production and mixing process and each and every song found its way. We are grateful to have such a committed producer and we can only feel blessed by the experience to once again have made another album reality at Fascination Street.

“The new album is called ‘A Rose For The Apocalypse’ and deals with a vast dilemma we’re all facing as one species; the horrors and contradictions we’ve created in our ‘nature-divorced’ system. The title refers to the collapse of this structure, built by mindless human opinion. It also refers to the necessity of its demise. We are trying to capture the gloom of its realization. I don’t know if we’d want to call this a conceptual album, but most songs certainly deal with the same topic in one way or the other. I’ve reached a point in my life when my eyes remain open.

“To most of you, ‘A Rose For The Apocalypse’ might appear a darker, more threatening album compared to the previous [album], ‘Turning Season Within’. And yes, it is different in several ways, but DRACONIAN remains the same.

“I have often said that our new work resembles a mix between the old and the new DRACONIAN and will unite fans of both preferences. While listening to this album, I feel a lot of history comes together in one place, at least sound-wise.

“Our old friend Olof Göthlin contributes with some of his excellent violin skills on the album. Cover and layout is created by the amazing Seth Siron Anton.

“We sincerely hope we’ve created an album that will make impact on our beloved fans. Thank you for keeping up, sticking by us and maintained your faith in DRACONIAN.”
