In August of 2023 while on tour in Europe, heavy psych- and progressive rock masters Elder were invited to record a live session at the legendary BBC Maida Vale Studios for the Radio 1 Rock Show with Dan Carter. The resulting session is a snapshot of the band’s powerful live performance and setlist from that tour. “Live at BBC Maida Vale Studios” will be released on August 30, 2024 through Stickman Records.
“We recorded a few tracks from the live set we had been playing at that time and were very happy with the results – a very ‘live’ sounding version of the tracks, which can be sometimes a bit ambitious to pull off live,“ the band states. “Most folks missed the radio broadcast, so we figured we’d put it to vinyl and CD as well.”

Following their latest, much-acclaimed studio album, Innate Passage, prog- and psych rock masters, Elder, have announced an extensive European tour, with support from up-and-coming, Norwegian desert rockers Slomosa and UK’s finest Steak on selected dates!
Innate Passage, the band’s sixth full-length, was released on November 25, 2022 via Stickman Records in Europe HERE and in North America via Armageddon Shop at THIS LOCATION! It finds the mostly-Berlin-based band in the post-pandemic era as veterans at the forefront of a league of progressive and heavy groups working in large part under their influence; a stately presence as reliably forward-thinking as they are unpredictable in sound. They are among the most important acts of their mostly-still-emerging generation. Genuine leaders in style and expressive intention. Innate Passage is further proof why.
While The Guardian said “…its masterful, slow-building might recalling forebears and fellow-travellers Mastodon and Cave In. Throughout Innate Passage, Elder prove themselves those bands’ equals“, Chicago Reader praised “Innate Passage as a milestone from musicians who’ve proved themselves unafraid of reinvention.” Powerplay Magazine in the UK is convinced “This could well be the band’s masterpiece“, Metal Injection agrees that “These guys know exactly how and when to take their songs to the next level, and they capitalize every time.”, while JJ of The Obelisk says “To call it one of 2022’s best albums is underselling it.”
Lauded by international music critics and fans alike, Innate Passage is a culmination of everything ELDER has done before, and after more than 15 years, they’re still pushing forward to places where neither they nor anyone they’ve influenced have yet gone. In support of Innate Passage, the band is not only gearing up for a run with live dates in Mexico, in North America and Canada with Ruby The Hatchet and Howling Giant, but they will also hit the road for an extensive European tour in 2023! Guitarist/vocalist Nick DiSalvo comments:
“After an incredibly busy year back to touring in 2022, we don’t plan on taking much time off to catch our breath in 2023. We’re looking forward to presenting our latest album Innate Passage live to audiences in as much of the world as we can reach! It’s especially exciting to be joined by another awesome crew of support bands this year – in North America Ruby The Hatchet and Howling Giant, in Europe Slomosa and Steak – not to mention the crazy festival bills we’re taking part in this summer. We’re busy preparing now for the year, so get a ticket if you want to see what we’ve been cooking up!”

Elder is: Nick DiSalvo – Guitars, Vocals Mike Risberg – Guitars, Keys Jack Donovan – Bass Georg Edert – Drums
Prog- and psych rock masters, ELDER, have released their new, critically acclaimed album, Innate Passage, via Stickman Records in Europe and through Armageddon in North America.
It‘s the band’s sixth full-length, and finds the mostly-Berlin-based band in the post-pandemic era as veterans at the forefront of a league of progressive and heavy groups working in large part under their influence; a stately presence as reliably forward-thinking as they are unpredictable in sound. They are among the most important acts of their mostly-still-emerging generation. Genuine leaders in style and expressive intention. Innate Passage is further proof why.
In Spring 2020, Elder released their fifth album, Omens, and with it established a claim on their most prog-leaning interpretation of sprawling heavy rock and roll. Two years later, Innate Passage builds on many similar concepts, but outdoes its predecessor on every level of performance, weight of its impact, interplay between founder Nick DiSalvo and Mike Risberg’s guitars and keys, the now-settled-in drumming of Georg Edert – who made his debut on Omens – and bassist Jack Donovan’s tonal warmth underscoring the shimmer of DiSalvo’s leads. Alongside DiSalvo, Innate Passage also features a guest singer performance for the first time in Behrang Alavi of Samavayo.
The album is a culmination of everything they’ve done before, and that’s reason to celebrate, but more, it is that after more than 15 years, they’re still pushing forward to places where neither they nor anyone they’ve influenced have yet gone.
Says DiSalvo: “This record channels the surreal world we live in from a fantastical point of view, not super-literally, and how we as humans processed that; everyone on their own passage through time and space and whatever version of reality they chose for themselves. The phrase ‘Innate Passage’ appeared to me when writing the record. Passage and transition are necessary in the human condition and this process is intrinsic to us. All the growth and introspection we underwent in the past few years totally made this apparent to me more so than any other experiences in life so far.”

For many who lived through it, 2020 will forever be the year that time stopped. Especially for those who thrive in packed, sweaty environment – musicians, concertgoers, even humble record label operators – this led to some pretty fundamental changes in the way we spent our time. Like Nick DiSalvo did, best known as the frontman of Elder and one half of Gold & Silver: long in the making but finally taking off in this dreaded year where creativity was relegated exclusively to one’s own domain, DiSalvo has announced the release of his upcoming DELVING solo debut, entitled Hirschbrunnen, which will be out on June 11, 2021 through Stickman Records.
Hirschbrunnen is a collection of songs that display a wide range of influences from psychedelic rock, early electronic music, 70’s prog as well as jazz and even ambient sounds – yet all with a distinct songwriting style that DiSalvo has come to be known for. His upcoming delving album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Richard Behrens and Emanuele Baratto at Big Snuff Studio.
“I’m an almost obsessive songwriter, working on music every day and amassing a huge collection of song fragments and ideas that often don’t get the attention I’d like because of the time I spend with my main band.” DiSalvo recently explained.“‘Thanks’ to this pandemic, I’ve had plenty of time to pick up some of the songs I’ve written over the past years and finally make an album that I’ve been telling myself forever I’d do.
From my earliest moments as a musician, I have been obsessed with home recordings, begging my parents for a Tascam 4-track cassette recorder for Christmas when I was 12 and making my own albums. delving is a continuation of this creative spirit: experimenting all on my own, forgetting bands, fans and expectations and making whatever music I want to.”
Today, the multi- instrumentalist has shared a first single and trippy music clip for “The Reflecting Pool”. Dive into the cosmic soundsphere of Delving and watch the new video right here:
“Hirschbrunnen – “stag fountain” – is the colloquial name of a large fountain that presides over a large green area near where I live.“ DiSalvo continues.“For me, it’s been strange to see my world, which normally consists of a fair amount of travel and external stimuli, reduced to one city, one district, one block for so long. Frustrating as that is, you might start to find inspiration and surprising beauty in your everyday surroundings that you otherwise would have ignored. Just as all the music I make is influenced by my experiences, Hirschbrunnen is a product of this unique and strange time in which we all have been forced to delve more deeply into our own thoughts.”
Hirschbrunnen Tracklist:

delving‘s Hirschbrunnen will be out on June 11, 2021 and available as a 2LP, CD and in Digital formats through Stickman Records. The album pre-sale has just started at THIS LOCATION!
