One nation, one clan – one folk: Strong words that unfold a powerful magic in these difficult times. United by the sound of epic metal, EQUILIBRIUM have released their new single and video for “One Folk” – an ode to humanity that celebrates all our solidarity and ties the knot between individuals under the flag of shared values even stronger.
Just one year after the release of their sixth studio record »Renegades«, the highly lauded epic metallers went back to the studio to merge all their influences, thoughts and trademarks. As a result, they forged a new masterpiece embracing both the folky uplifting melodies that made EQUILIBRIUM one of the most popular pagan metal bands worldwide as well as their ground-breaking electronic infusions showing that the band never stands still in its evolution and strife for progress.
Mastermind Berthammer states: „2020 is the first year since 2003 that we are not able to play any festival shows for obvious reasons. But just as everybody else we had to deal with that situation and we decided to spend a lot of time in the studio, writing new songs. We are very happy to share our newest creation “One Folk” with the world, our hymn to humanity. This song includes many of our favourite Equilibrium trademarks and I think it also shows what to expect from us in the future. We just can’t wait to play it also live hopefully soon!“
German epic metal pioneers, EQUILIBRIUM, will set aflame a brand new bonfire this summer with their sixth studio album. “Renegades” (out: August 23rd via Nuclear Blast) is heralding a watershed, the turn of an era for this genre. This is metal at its most epic and most monumental, bearing huge songs, resting firmly in the Zeitgeist with a massive, modern production and sporting quite a number of eclectic influences. And before the bleating erupts: It’s working, it’s blending in – and above all, it’s still Equilibrium. Quite possibly more than ever.
The album’s limited Digipac includes an exclusive bonus CD with 8-bit versions of all songs on the album. Today the band presents you a small foretaste of this bonus CD in the form of a video of the 8-bit version of the song “Renegades – A Lost Generation”.
You can watch the video here:
The band states: “Most of us grew up with computer games in the 80s and 90s so everytime we hear these 8 Bit sounds its kinda nostalgic. We always had this idea in mind to make 8 Bit versions of our songs and this time we just did it! This clip will give you a little taste of how it sounds.”

Last week, the band released the second digital single “Path of Destiny”. The song is available on all major streaming and download platforms: http://nblast.de/EquilibriumDestiny
The band has presented the official video clip of the song. Check it out here:
Berthammer states: “Path of Destiny’s music video is actually a loveletter to humanity and it’s diversity, but at the same time a reminder and warning, packed with serious topics into a strange and colourful fictive 80s world.
It’s about how people’s life lines collide in kinda strange ways and how all of us unconsciously influence other people’s lives every single day. Which is kinda interesting…as most of us humans don’t really care that much about others, but we are all connected. We all do feel the same things, we fear the same things and we all struggle sometimes. But one single smile, word or gesture at the right time and the right place can actually change another persons whole life. Isn’t that powerful?!
Humans are super interesting beings and it’s amazing to actually see how an action leads to an reactions. And how emotions guide our actions.
All of us have decisions to make, whether we like it or not, whether they are right or wrong in the end…we have to make them. That’s just how our universe works.
Diversity is beautiful and instead of being afraid of it or even fear it, we should learn to love it. Our human mind is the most powerful weapon. Use it wisely.
Don’t judge so rashly. Offer an open mind and an open heart instead. Listen. Give people a smile.
And maybe you will unconsciously access someone else’s path of destiny.”
Progress without estrangement is a rare craft that very few bands truly master. All too often, a band ventures so far from its roots it that loses its trademark sound. And every so often, a band’s stagnation drains all of its charm. Finding that rare balance between the two is a huge task not easily accomplished. And yet there is a band that has been coming close to that perfect balance more and more over the course of the past few years. A band that, ironically, already bears that balance in its well-known name: EQUILIBRIUM.
Their latest, sixth record “Renegades” (out: August 23rd via Nuclear Blast) is heralding a watershed, the turn of an era for this genre.
Today, the band presents the second album trailer. Check it and find out more about the new line-up and the band members:
Berthammer states: “We are very excited to finally share a first song from our new album with the world. Even though all songs are pretty different from each other, ‘Renegades’ gives a good taste of what you can expect this time from EQUILIBRIUM.”
