Experimental sludge outfit ERDVE is now dropping a brand new single, “Neigti!”The band is debuting the single along with an unnerving music video! As one can expect from this Lithuanian band, the song and video are both intense, mesmerizingand uncompromising. Watch and listen at THIS LOCATION.
ERDVE comments: “‘Neigti’ in Lithuanian means ”Deny’.’ The song and video is about denial as a collective mindset, where fundamental moral beliefs form the basis of a social identity. In this case, those beliefs cannot be challenged, otherwise the whole understanding of one’s existential identity is at stake. Facing the truth would mean the loss of that identity, therefore considered a threat by itself. This poses a great challenge and lack of judgement of current geopolitical problems and is one of the reasons why, for example, an unjust war is not being seen for what it is by the majority of society of the country who started the war.”
“Neigti” can be streamed on all digital platforms HERE.
ERDVE previously released the album ‘Savigaila’ July 23, 2021 via Season of Mist and can be heard in full HERE.
Experimental Sludge outfit ERDVE are now streaming the virtual live performance that was recorded in at the Lukiškės prison in Lithuania in September 2020. The unique experience was captured in full by No Brake productions and can be viewed at THIS LOCATION.
About the location: The stage at the Lukiškės Prison was set up in a round 4-level hall, which is a main part of the 1st prison block that used to serve as a death row for prisoners a while ago. After the death penalty became prohibited in 1998, the 1st prison block was only used for prisoners serving a life-sentence right until 2019 relocation of inmates to another prison.
ERDVE comment on the show: “Our goal was to enhance the eerie atmosphere of the prison architecture with our musical performance, yet you could still feel the smell and the surrounding energy from the recent prison life. We are happy to be able to share this documented footage shot by NO BRAKE productions, providing a closer look from multiple points of view.“
ERDVE is supporting their brand new album, ‘Savigaila,’ which was released on July! Stream, download, and order HERE.
Experimental Sludge outfit ERDVE will be releasing their new album ‘Savigaila’ via Season of Mist tomorrow, July 23! The band is now streaming the offering in full ahead of the release. Listen at THIS LOCATION.
ERDVE comments: ”Finally, we are able to share our creative output at the fullest extent. This record is a huge step for us as a band and got us really hyped on experimenting further with heavy music, visuals and narrative. There was quite a bit of emotional weight that came up with the birth of this album, so we are really looking forward to all the feedback from the listeners. Now that the album is being released, we are very thankful to everyone who supports our work! You can be sure to hear much more from us soon, but for now, we hope you will enjoy this record.”
Experimental Sludge outfit ERDVE will be releasing their new album ‘Savigaila’ via Season of Mist on July 23! The band is now revealing the third new single, “Pragulos” along with an unnerving music video, which was created entirely by the band! You can find the clip at THIS LOCATION.
ERDVE comments: ”The video for the song ‘Pragulos’ (meaning: Bedsore) is about finding the key for your own personal meaning, transforming into someone you always wanted to be and breaking free from dogmatic societal structures and their imposed rules. It is when denying the existing dogmas of society, religion and politics, you are able to find your true self and grasp the reality between knowledge and superstition. ‘Pragulos’ is one of the most essential pieces of the upcoming album, a necessary balance for the anxious wall of sound.”
Experimental Sludge outfit ERDVE will be releasing their new album ‘Savigaila’ via Season of Mist on July 23! The band is now revealing the second new single, “Sugretinimas,” along with a music video, which was created entirely by the band! You can find the unnerving clip at THIS LOCATION.
ERDVE comments: “The song name ‘Sugretinimas’ translates as ‘Juxtaposition.’ This song is about a tendency to juxtapose different points of view for the sole purpose of comparison while disregarding the actual result of an issue. The purpose of this video is to present different angles of the same subject and to raise the question whether the process of an argument of comparing is meaningful at all, if the result remains the same.”
Experimental Sludge outfit ERDVE will be releasing their new album ‘Savigaila’ via Season of Mist on July 23! The band has also revealed the album art, tracklist, and additional details, which can be found below. In conjunction with the announcement, ERDVE has shared the first single, “Lavondėmės,” along with an official music video that was created entirely by the band! Watch and listen at THIS LOCATION.
The band comments: “‘Lavondėmės’ in the Lithuanian language is a word describing Livor mortis, also known as hypostasis, which is an accumulation of stagnated blood causing a purplish red skin colour of a deceased body. This song and video is a metaphor for inner stagnation and an overwhelming effort to overcome it. The idea is closely related to the main theme of the album ‘Savigaila’ which translates as ‘self-pity.’ The visual is portraying a sense of helplessness in a search for meaning through an endless mind clutter. Being obstructed by senseless actions, it is difficult to maintain directional movement and therefore even more difficult to accept responsibility for your own self, being able to create your own meaning to break free from stagnation and therefore achieve happiness.”
Crushing insanity drips atmospherically out of every crack on ‘Savigaila’, experimenting with elements from hardcore, sludge, and black metal.
When ERDVE formed in the Lithuanian capital Vilnius in 2016, the band had a clear aesthetic vision of creating a unique heavy sound that experimented with elements from hardcore, sludge, and black metal – yet was not bound by any unwritten “rules” surrounding those genres. ERDVE’s members had already been active in their local scene and performed in various acts such as NYKSTA, SRAIGĖS EFEKTAS, and SPIRALE. A self-made tape version of their debut made its rounds in underground circles and the Lithuanians received the rare honour of being picked straight out of the dreaded demo pile by virtue of their musical strength and compelling quality.
The core ideas behind ERDVE are translated into lyrics, visuals, and sound by in-depth reflection on concepts such as domestic violence, utmost disgusting behaviour, crimes against humanity, and extremism. Their debut album ‘Vaitojimas’, released in 2018 by Season of Mist, delivered exactely that!
The new offering ‘Savigaila’, which translates as “self-pity”, revolves around overcoming the numbness within the great challenges of unsettling reality, and accepting them as they are. Regret, envy, self-regard, love, care and togetherness. From completely understandable to the most unreasonable sense. This idea is turned into melodies, rhythm, and sound by ERDVE on the bands upcoming sophomore album.
But make no mistake, ERDVE successfully transformed these melodies into a new unnerving experience on how THEY perceive life and with ‘Savigaila’, you may find that enjoying life, can be entirely implausible…
