EX DEO, fronted by KATAKLYSM‘s Maurizio Iacono, have been confirmed for Bloodstock Open Air 2013, which is scheduled for August 8th – 11th at Catton Hall in Walton On Trent, Derbyshire, England.
Thus far, the Bloodstock Open Air 2013 lineup features: ACCEPT, ANTHRAX, EX DEO, FIREWIND, FOZZY, KING DIAMOND, and NEGLIGENCE.

We regret to inform our loyal fans in Toronto that Ex Deo will not be able to make the the first show of the Conquerors Of The World tour. There is a scheduling problem with Kataklysm overseas, the band will fly in just in time for the Trois-Rivieres Metalfest the next day and will peform as scheduled, the rest of the tour is on 100% . We apologize to our great fans in Toronto, Canada. We plan a return in 2013. The Gladius is sharpened , the moral is up and the band is ready to kill.

“Caligvla” will be released via Austria’s Napalm Records on the following dates:

“Caligvla” was mixed by KATAKLYSM guitarist Jean-François Dagenais, who has previously worked with MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX and DESPISED ICON, among others. The artwork and layout for the album were handled by SEPTICFLESH‘s Seth Siro Anton. The booklet for the new album will feature commentaries and descriptions from frontman Iacono with his views on each song. The limited first pressing will be released as a six-panel digipack featuring the bonus track “Burned To Serve As Nocturnal Light”, a song dealing with Caligvla‘s madman rival emperor Nero.
The “I, Caligvla” video can be seen below. The clip, which was filmed in June in Philadelphia, features an appearance by Iacono‘s girlfriend, Colombian model Suzzy, and is described by the band as “a resurrection in time, blood and courage.”
“Caligvla” features contributions from ALL SHALL PERISH guitarist Francesco Artusato, TRISTANIA singer Mariangela Demurtas, SEPTICFLESH‘s Seth Siro Anton and GRAVEWORM‘s Stefano Fiori. Every invited guest on the album is of Roman or Greek descent.

EX DEO recently canceled its participation in the “Paganfest America Part III” tour due to delays in the production of “Caligvla”. The band still performed with Paganfest on April 1 in Montreal at Club Soda and April 2 in Toronto at The Opera House.
EX DEO last year completed a North American tour with NILE, PSYCROPTIC and KEEP OF KALESSIN.
“Romulus”, the debut album from EX DEO, landed at position No. 90 on the Top New Artist Albums (Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top 100 of The Billboard 200.
