Following on from their successful launch in 2013, UK Charity Tour HEADBANGERS BALLS has started up the engines on it’s second music fuelled campaign and this years looks like it will be even bigger.
The 2013 tour, comprising of 50 of the UK’s hottest emerging rock & metal bands, alongside special guests such as HATEBREED and XENTRIX, took in 12 major UK venues and raised awareness for Testicular Cancer and funds for TEENAGE CANCER TRUST.
The new 2014 campaign begins with a call to arms for bands and fans alike, inviting applications for the live shows scheduled for a November staging. The team are inviting all rock & metal outfits to get in touch with merchandise donations, sponsorship, and publicity partnerships.
The campaign has already received over 300 band applications, and has been inundated with enquiries, with more than a dozen major UK events donating ticket prizes to the cause already. The Headbangers Balls have been selected by “Out of the Ashes” festival as their official good cause for 2014, and EMP, Europe’s largest rock & merch retailer have become official sponsors.
James Pritchard-Barrett, EMP UK Manager, said: “EMP, Europes biggest merchandiser of Rock and Metal merchandise are pleased to be supporting Headbangers Balls and the very worthwhile charity of Teenage Cancer Trust”
The 2013 event won the ‘Contribution to charity’ award as voted for by the listeners of the UK’s most popular rock and metal radio station TBFM. This shows the hard work of everyone involved in the campaign is being recognised by the industry and fans alike. REIGN OF FURY, who’s lead singer Bison was the starting point for the Headbangers Balls, will once again be heavily involved. Bison suffered from testicular cancer and after a successful period of treatment he has managed to beat the cancer into submission. The Headbangers Balls is his way of saying thank you to the people that supported him and its a way to raise more awareness about testicular cancer.
Andy Pilkington, organiser of Headbangers Balls said: “It was an exceptionally tough ask to launch such a major charity event in 2013 with such a small team, but the support has proven the blood, sweat and tears were worth it. The 2014 event looks to build on the success of the first, and intends to build on the live events with the addition of some very special new projects to grow our Balls into something the UK will have to take notice of. The Teenage Cancer Trust is a wonderful cause, and we will be doing everything we can to make this project surpass all expectations.”
Expect some big announcements over the coming months from the team over at The Headbangers Balls.
