On November 26th 2021, HYPOCRISY released their critically acclaimed latest album Worship, which saw the best global chart results in the band’s history so far.
And yet, the band has another ace up their sleeve.
The fierce banger ‘They Will Arrive’, taken from their latest album Worship, provides the perfect soundtrack to the video, which was filmed across three different concerts during their last European tour in autumn/winter 2022.

In November 2021, death metal titans HYPOCRISY released their 13th studio album Worship to massive acclaim from fans and media ending up in the top ranks of many year’s poll lists and scoring some of their highest chart results to date. Promoted on the band’s most extensive live cycle since ages, tracks like ‘Chemical Whore’, ‘Children of the Gray’ were very well received by their following, alongside to such classic tracks as ‘Roswell 47’, ‘Inferior Devoties’, ‘Fractured Millennium’ or ‘Eraser’.
HYPOCRISY toured the States, performed at festivals like Wacken (DE), Summer Breeze (DE), Maryland Deathfest (US), Alcatraz (BE) to name but a few, played a highly successful European tour, and finished 2022 with an unforgettable trip to South America before launching 2023 aboard the 70000 Tons of Metal cruise. But now, HYPOCRISY and Nuclear Blast Records will start the first, and definitely not final chapter, of a catalogue campaign bringing back all their legendary past records, some of which are much sought-after rarities.
“Chapter One” begins with classy vinyl and CD editions of Penetralia (1992), Osculum Obscenum (1993), The Fourth Dimension (1994), and Abducted (1996) on May 5th, 2023. Documenting the evolution from the violent and utterly morbid Masse Broberg fronted first two records, the much revered opus The Fourth Dimension that showed a darker and more melodic approach until Abducted , which includes live staple ‘Roswell 47’, this first phase of HYPOCRISY’s career laid down the groundwork for the Swedes trademark sound.
The 2023 re-issues feature all original art with a few careful touchups – the band logo on Penetralia was for example never meant to be pink/purple – and preserve true death metal classics in astonishing form that have been unavailable especially on LP for far too long. Get ready to revisit one of the most consistent and dynamic discographies in the genre!

Hypocrisy has a 30-year history with 12 albums, hundreds of gigs all over the world, and thousands of fans. This influential Swedish death metal band started from the will of one person, and this person’s name was (and is) Peter Tägtgren (Hypocrisy, The Abyss, PAIN, ex-Lindemann). Having made the first demos all by himself, after getting an offer from Nuclear Blast, he invited musicians to form an actual band.
Since then, Hypocrisy gained success with their records and rocking live performances, and evolved musically and conceptually. Heavy and rich sound with catchy melodic riffs, crushing drum fills, obscure lyrics and versatile vocal parts became a signature style of the band. It´s discography from debut ‘Penetralia’ to the recent ’Worship’, through such legendary albums as ‘The Fourth Dimension’, ‘Abducted’, and ‘Virus’, is indeed a thrilling metal journey. A journey that continues.

On November 26th, the newest addition to the HYPOCRISY catalog, WORSHIP, was released via Nuclear Blast Records. That evening, the band presented their fans with a special listening session that featured a video of vinyl being sent up to the stratosphere.
The journey was completed on a bespoke launch vehicle that carried and supported the record through the atmosphere. The craft was lifted by a large hydrogen-filled balloon reaching a maximum altitude of over 120,000 feet/36.57 km above the Earth. It fell back down to Earth reaching speeds over 200mph until it re-entered the troposphere (where we all live) where the onboard parachute slowed the craft to a gentle walking pace by the time it touched down.

As usual, all recording and mixing took place at Tägtgren’s Abyss Studio AB in Sweden while mastering was completed by Svante Forsbäck at Chartmakers Audio Mastering. Designed by artist Blake Armstrong (KATAKLYSM, IN FLAMES, CARNIFEX, etc.), WORSHIP’s artwork speaks to the history of the relationship between humanity and extraterrestrials.
