Interview with ZUUL FX: “To have more “balls” in the music business wouldn’t harm it!”

This band will go far, they have a strong potential and a fierce desire, an internationally recognized talent and a rare altruism in the metal environment… I had a chance to interview via mail (September 27, 2011) band’s (very) nice SHAG, bassist of the powerful ZUUL FX, French band of great magnitude that has not finished to offer sacred (good) surprises. ZUUL FX is working hard now on the shooting of two new videos for the new album “The Torture Never Stops” (XIIIbis Records – 2011). The two chosen tracks are “The Torture Never Stops” and “The Song Of The Dead”. The band is also, since the beginning of August, working on the writing of the new album. The release should be early 2012.

MEL DELACROIX: What’s up for ZUUL FX after the concerts of the Hellfest, the Bataclan with Cavarela Conspiracy and another (at Blois, France) with Sepultura ? Any holidays?

SHAG: The holidays we passed contributing different ideas and already well advanced songs that we have in stock. We have made the point on the musical direction of the band and we have been working on new titles. We are also committed to finding new partners for this new “season”.

Metal Scent was formed around 2004. The plans to form it were around even earlier, and we did have some friendly writing and playing sessions but it actually became a band around that year.

Interview with SKIRMISH: “Drink your milk, stay in school and eat the asparagus!”

SKIRMISH is a heavy metal band from Kajaani, Finland formed in 2005. They have released their debut album “Through the Abacinated Eyes” by legendary Violent Journey Records 31st Aug 2011. Some has categorized Skirmish to death or even trash metal but what has driven the band forward has been to stay outside of different categories to be free of making good music in a tight leaning position.

1.You’ve released your debut album  “Through the Abacinated Eyes”  now. How do you feel about it?

Right now we feel relaxed because the album is finally released, we are satisfied about the final result, and the response so far has been mostly positive.

2. How long did the process of creating this album take?

Everything was done in a relatively short period of time. We started to write the music for the album around September of 2010, although some of the riffs were there already, and the album was recorded and mixed in the beginning of April ’11. We did spend loads of man-hours to get all the music and lyrics ready and prepared for the studio, but the recordings were done in about a week. The writing process was surprisingly easy, even the last songs was finished just couple of weeks before we hit the studio.

Interview with FRANTIC AMBER: All-Female Heavy and Low-Tune Kick Ass Metal from Sweden!

FRANTIC AMBER is a Stockholm, Sweden-based all-female group delivering straightforward melo-death growl spiced up with clean vocals. Featuring members are from four different countries (Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Japan). A video for the song “Wrath of Judgement” made quite an impression on the metal scene, paving the way for the worldwide digital release of the band’s debut five-song EP via the Australian metal label BlueFreya Media.

TONY MARTIN, is a heavy metal vocalist best known for his work with Black Sabbath from 1987 to 1991 and again from 1993 to 1997. Tony has since been involved in many other projects (such as the Tony Martin Band, M3, The Alliance, Misha Calvin, The Cage, Giuntini Project II, Phenomena’s Psychofantasy album)… A few days ago I had a chance to interview Tony about his projects and what he’s thinking about the Music Business in generally…

Thanks .. i’m good.

Well, there are so many things to ask, however I’d like to talk first about you as a musician… despite  you’re performing almost exclusively as a vocalist, you’re a multi-instrumentalist… you play guitar, bass, drums, violin, keyboards, harmonica, bagpipes, and pan pipes… so, what is your relationship with these instruments, and how you “met” them?

They all come to me by way of curiosity… I never study them.. just pick ’em up and experiment.. if I can get them to work, I use them….
