Finnish traditional rockers JACKIE’S LAND have released their debut album called “Kicks ‘n Thrills”, out now, including 10 original songs and one cover song. The band released four singles and with these added songs the full-length album brings another layer of diversity to the bands overall sound. On the album you’ll find obvious nuances from punk, funk and of course a mandatory power ballad.

“Recording and releasing this debut full-length album has been an important and somewhat educational experience. For us it’s an important milestone on our journey and an all in all a great experience.” says the singer Ilmiö and guitarist Jouni Möysä. “I, myself still like to listen to whole albums as one big piece of music so that’s why I feel the full-length album is such an important thing for us to make.” adds the singer Ilmiö.

“Producer Jussi Vuola from V.R. Studio really did a great job at finding the right sounds for every song even though the raw tracks might’ve been a bit all over the place at first. Overall, the album sounds really great and has just the right amount of vintage warmth without sounding retro.” says the guitarist Jouni Möysä.

“We even managed to set the release day for the album to be on leap day! So basically, this means the next record will probably get out even before this one celebrates its first anniversary.” laughs the drummer Pekka Jokela and the bass player Fabian Korsström.

Finnish groovy trad rockers, Jackie’s Land, are releasing their new born debut album later this month. ‘Fortune & Fame’ is the last 4th single with a nice warm vintagey Black Crowes, Rolling Stones vibe, groovy riffs and a great chorus.

‘Fortune & Fame’ starts with some easygoing open tuned electric guitar which delivers nice warm “vintagey” vibes with hints from bands like the Black Crowes and even the Rolling Stones. After the peaceful intro the song rolls into a grooving main riff and some true to the style slide guitar licks. Like the earlier single releases ‘Fortune & Fame’ also delivers a nice and crisp sounding old-school rock song with a groovy main riff and a melodic chorus that’s guaranteed to stick in your head for the rest of the day.

“I guess the message of the song is kind of self-explanatory and represents our attitude quite well; we’re not here for the fortune or the fame but just want to do our own thing as best as we can and have fun while doing it. With this song we had a pretty strong sense how we wanted the finished track to sound like, and producer Jussi Vuola really did a great job with capturing those sounds.” says guitarist Jouni Möysä.

Along with the song there’s a high-quality music video the band made with videographer and film maker Petri Vilen. “We wanted to make a video that represents us as a band and has a feel-good attitude. Standing in front of a green screen looking serious and grouchy with our instruments didn’t really feel natural for us so we decided to go the other way and do something totally different. The basic idea for the plot came to us pretty easily somewhat through the song title. Together with Petri Vilen we crafted the screenplay, and the finished video is something way beyond all our expectations.” says the singer Ilmiö with a grin on his face.

Jackie’s Land has been brewing their art of traditional rock ’n roll patiently. Finally, they are ready to open the taps and fill the needs of music lovers all around. Known for their electrifying live performances the band is now ready to take the next step with their upcoming debut album filled with high energy songs and loud guitars. Just like music is supposed to be made.

While not being the fastest and the highest-intensity rock song that the band is probably more known for, it represents a more mature aspect of their songwriting. With a minor scale fuzz-guitar riff and a more serious lyric the song still maintains a positive message and overall feeling. Already at the beginning of recording the basic tracks the producer Jussi Vuola told the band “This is going to be a big track for the album”. The listeners can witness the positive vibes themselves from the music video that’s been combined from video material from the album recording sessions at VR Studio.

“During the pre-production sessions our guitarist Jouni Möysä said that I should try to sing the chorus from a lower register and with a more laidback feeling. The self-conscious singer as I am, I thought there’s no way that’s going to work. But little did I know, it was just the right adjustment that made the atmosphere of the song right and made it feel and sound awesome and even more powerful” says lead singer Ilmiö. “Also, with our charming bass player Fabian Korsström and our talented friends Jazz Lehtinen & Samu Tuominen laying down angel-like backing vocals for the chorus it’s guaranteed to make you sing and hum the chorus melody” he smiles looking pleased. – Ilmiö, lead vox

First single from the upcoming debut album is the energetic title song Kicks ’n Thrills. With one foot steadily in traditional rock ’n roll the song grooves onward without looking back. This three-minute track works as an appetizer for what’s coming from the band in the future.

With its catchy guitar riff and a shout-it-out-loud chorus line this song represents the upcoming album and is a great first single in our opinion.
