There are a plethora of influences in Joviac’s music ranging from the obvious progressive metal examples to arena acts like Toto! Of all the songs on Joviac’s upcoming album, Canvas is definitely the song where all of the wonderfully cheesy, saccharine AOR vibes that frontman/composer Viljami Jupiter Wenttola has absorbed from bands like Toto, Journey and Boston come into play the most. Without forgetting to throw Joviac’s own sound and spice into the mix of course! 

“Canvas is definitely one of those songs where I instantly felt a story in my head take shape and it just pulled me in. There have been countless times where I’ve figuratively (and perhaps literally) bashed my head against a wall for lengthy periods of time when trying to figure out a concept for a song. Canvas was the complete opposite. I remember when I started feeling out the verse parts, this story of a young woman just came to my head. She felt like she was trapped in the small town where she was from. That she was like a bird trapped in a cage, but she had one form of escape. Every time she would paint and let her emotions flow free, her anxieties and that cage would let her go. In the end her canvas shows her a world beyond her cage, and she’s able to leave that town behind.”  –Viljami Jupiter Wenttola

Sometimes life is tough and at times it weighs us all down. B.O.M.B. is a reminder that you are a force to be reckoned with. We’re constantly bombarded by information and made aware about all that’s wrong with the world, but this song is a blast of positive energy, a beacon in the dark.

“One of my main goals as a songwriter is to explore both ends of the human emotional spectrum, or at least how I experience it. I need contrasts to stay interested and intrigued. We all go through our own journey, and even though sometimes it feels like our worlds may be swallowed up in darkness, we always

Vocalist-guitarist Viljami Jupiter Wenttola comments: 
“Burn is an intensely personal song for me, and heavily inspired by my personal experiences of dealing with the mental illness of a loved one. When faced with a reality altering mental illness, one often feels like running into a brick wall. No two days are the same, and the words that seemed to get through yesterday aren’t connecting today. It leads to frustration, anger and resentment among a plethora of other feelings. Together combined the feelings become a storm that blows through, leaving inner destruction in its wake.” 

This song is about all of the above, knowing that going against the storm is futile, but still demanding at least something for all the uninvited suffering you’ve gone through. It’s about being at the end of one’s tether and reaching the point of no return, about having to make incredibly difficult decisions 
even if it means collateral damage.

Vocalist-guitarist Viljami Jupiter Wenttola comments: 
”“I wanted to write a catchy and unashamedly hopeful and positive song. There’s plenty of darkness out there, so when I have light and beauty in my heart, I try to let it shine through.” 

Shine is an affirmation. It’s about reminding yourself that no matter what life throws at you, you have what it takes to make it through. Nothing is out of reach and above all, you had everything you needed inside of you all along. We all need help and support, but in the end they’re there to amplify and show you the light that was within you from the start. Like the lyrics state: “fix your gaze on any goal, the key is just do as you do.”

Finnish progressive metal band JOVIAC released a new single and music video ‘Dissemination’. Since their latest single ‘The Fine Line‘ the band has now expanded from trio to quintet when Johannes Leipälä (Guitar) & Tuomas Honkkila (Keyboards) were added to the line-up earlier this summer.  

Viljami Wenttola’s comments:
“When the global pandemic began and we all became familiar with the term “lockdown”, I noticed that it wasn’t the disease itself that was most anxiety and fear inducing for me personally, but the amount of misinformation and disinformation surrounding the disease. Fake news was rampant. People used the disease to further their at times questionable motives and armed themselves with arguments that supported only their own nefarious or ignorant ends. Suddenly everyone felt like they knew better than everyone else and trust in their “own research” was stronger than in the scientific community. In many ways the pandemic brought out the darkest sides of humanity. I channelled all of my pandemic anxiety and fear into this song and the result is definitely the heaviest song that we’ve ever released. I even tried out harsh vocals/growling for the first time!”
