KATAKLYSM / EX DEO frontman Maurizio Iacono has slammed Hellfest organizers for using the DEATH name in their new advertisements for the 2014 edition of the festival, for which Kataklysm is booked:
“I am one to say what he thinks or I wouldn’t be who I am, no matter the consequences. I take full responsibility, I believe in integrity. Death being announced at Hellfest or any other show as Death and not DEATH TO ALL the tribute band is a travesty and an abomination. Chuck (Schuldiner) was a friend of mine and I know he wouldn’t approve. It’s wrong. Imagine advertising TYPE O NEGATIVE headlining festivals without Pete Steele. Advertise it as a tribute, not the real band. Someone is making money….”

Hellfest 2014, which takes place in Clisson, France from June 20th – 22nd, are in the process of confirming their line-up. Acts currently on the bill include EMPEROR, CARCASS, ICED EARTH, ANNIHILATOR, KATAKLYSM and many more.

“This other version of the new art made by Eliran Kantor represents a more iconic and epic approach,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “A man representing all of humanity, shaking the foundation of existence and ultimately beginning the process of destruction. The main foundation is depicted here as the famous KATAKLYSM ‘tribal sun’ logo. It does not represent the end of KATAKLYSM by any means; more the beginning of a new era after the end of a certain existence.”
