Just recently the Italian progressive rock/metallers HERETIC’S DREAM joined the Finnish progressive metal masters AMORPHIS on the 10th Eclipse Anniversary Shows in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. VESPERIA Frontman Morgan Rider Covers KATATONIA’s ‘Idle Blood’ In Acoustic Video

VESPERIA frontman Morgan Rider has posted an acoustic cover video performing one of his favourite tracks from KATATONIA ‘Idle Blood’ from the ‘Night Is The New Day’ album.

“I recorded this cover in my home studio and filmed it in the crown lands near my house. I am a big Katatonia fan and have been wanting to record an homage to them with a slightly altered arrangement for awhile now.” comments Rider.

VESPERIA are currently completing the recording of their new album to follow to 2015’s ‘The Iron Tempests’ EP. The album is being recorded at Blue Sound & Music Studios in Toronto, Canada with engineer/ producer Russ Mackay (Mastodon, Iron Maiden, Styx) and will feature an array of famous Canadian guest musicians with the art created by Juno award-winning artist Hugh Syme (Rush, Nevermore, Dream Theater).

HALCYON WAY are currently at Audiohammer Studios in Orlando, Florida, recording their upcoming album, with producer Mark Lewis (Devildriver, Death Angel, Whitechapel) at the helm. This is the band’s first recording with new drummer Aaron Baumoel and the record should be released by Fall of 2017. The band has issued the update: “We are in the studio today with Mark Lewis, and we started lead vocal tracking. They sound amazing.”

Based in Atlanta, Georgia and founded in 2001, HALCYON WAY is the ultimate example of blue-collar work ethic, self-reliant bootstrapping, and hard work & perseverance in spite of nearly insurmountable odds. The band has released three albums worldwide through Nightmare Records/Sony RED, and performed in a dozen countries and counting. HALCYON WAY‘s sound cannot be neatly slotted into any sub-category of metal; but it can be described as heavy, catchy, technical, and above all, focused on mature songcraft. Copenhagen based modern prog rockers VOLA have kicked off today their European tour, as support to KATATONIA. Check out the tour dates below.

A musical journey into the mind in pursuit of happiness, set to a mix of 70’s progressive rock, modern day electronica, industrial and extreme metal, topped off with clear, beautiful vocal lines: that’s what young Copenhagen quartet VOLA is offering on their debut album Inmazes released 16th September on Mascot Records.

KATATONIA have announced they will be heading out on a headline tour after the summer to support the release of their new studio album “The Fall Of Hearts”, due for release on 20th May through Peaceville.

Founding Katatonia member Anders Nyström comments:
“This September, October and November a special autumn leaf shall swirl on through the European continent. With our new line-up and the new album taking on our true colours, we’ll be more than ready to take your hearts with us in the drop of fall. Our season is coming.”

KATATONIA Announce Anniversary Show In London

To celebrate KATATONIA’s 25th year anniversary, the band, have announced a one off UK show for Friday 21st October, issued Peaceville Records. Taking place at London’s 02 Shepherds Bush Empire, Katatonia’s biggest UK headline show to date will feature a very special 2 set performance.

One set will see KATATONIA perform their classic album ‘The Great Cold Distance’ in its entirety. Originally released back in 2006, the band’s 7th full-length album saw them continue to embrace a more melodic approach to their song writing. 2016 marks the 10 year anniversary for the album and Peaceville plan to re-issue an anniversary edition of ‘The Great Cold Distance’ with details to follow in the near future.

Founding Katatonia member Anders Nyström comments:

’We once put up a poll, asking our fans, which Katatonia album was their all-time favorite… ’The Great Cold Distance’ won that poll! Over the years, there is probably no other album from which we played more songs live and there’s probably no other album with the same amount of songs that still remain in our setlist. So with mutual love for our decade old distance, we decided to celebrate its anniversary by playing the whole damn thing for you, on two different occasions. First in Plovdiv, Bulgaria (with an orchestra) on 22nd September and later in London, UK (without an orchestra) on 21st October. The other set, on both nights, will feature a wide selection of tracks panning our entire career, including our latest album ’The Fall Of Hearts’, so join us and be part of crowning our 25th year anniversary in the fall, of hearts.’
