Italian 8 piece folk death metal band KRAMPUS released last summer their 2nd EP ‘Kronos’ Heritage’. Krampus’ extraordinary use of traditional folk instruments put them in leagues with the great folk musicians around the globe, however unlike many other folk musicians Krampus have introduced a beautiful array of instruments for your listening pleasure including Bagpipes, violins, flutes, whistles, and the much loved Irish Bouzouki. In addition to this they incorporate very heavy metal guitars, strong heart stomping vocals as well as gentle chorus based vocals and powerful melodic keyboards to their array of sounds.
Upon hitting the play button you are immediately thrown into a world of melody and Celtic history. Starting with Kronos’ Heritage, the aggressiveness of vocals and rhythmic pounding puts the listener right in the centre of melodic mayhem. With intriguing passages and cleverly thought out intricacies, this first track put you right in the right mood for the rest of the EP. Throughout the EP, you are thrown back and forth, in and out of melodies that are neatly placed and work so well within the metal environment. All instruments have been combined to produce the most exacting representation of Celtic Folk Metal and this EP doesn’t fail to throw out all the stops at achieving this.
This EP is something special, and the listener is left with the feeling ‘I want more!’ at the end of it.

In the last couple of years, the Heidenfest turned out to be a unique and not-to-be-missed tour package when it comes to the biggest names in the field of heathen/viking metal and bands offering you the best in between war anthems and drinking horn frenzy! Which is why the 2012 line up looks like the wet dream of every heathen metal warrior again:
Headlining will be mighty genre legends WINTERSUN from Finland! It took mastermind Jari Mäenpää and his brethren exactly one album to write folk and melodic death metal history: “Wintersun” came out in 2004 and will be followed by a new milestone around the tour.
“We are very excited to announce that we are going to be headlining the 2012 Heidenfest Tour in October. There was some setbacks with the album during the winter (again), but as usual we have managed to ram through them. (Big thanks to our management for helping us through the tough times!). I´ve been mixing my ass off and things are going smooth and steady now and the album will be released late summer. Stay tuned for bigger updates about the album (or should we say “albums”, wink wink!)“ Jari and the Wintersun boys, cheers!
Fellow Finns KORPIKLAANI have an equally impressive fan base to boast and with albums such as “Ukon Wacka” (2011) they deliver the goods in a party-friendly “Pelimanni metal” way! Rising German force VARG on the other hand call their troops to war with some powerful pagan metal tunes while Norwegians TROLLFEST up the ante with a healthy dose of black humour – and supreme folky heaviness! TROLLFEST will be releasing their brand new album “Brumlebassen” on August 24 and VARG will unleash their new beast on October 19, right in time for the HEIDENFEST tour!
Opening act on this tour will be Italian modern folk metal outfit KRAMPUS, who won the Rock The Nation award 2011. KRAMPUS offer an eclectic array of folk sounds with the usage of bagpipes, flutes, whistles, violins, and the Irish Bouzouki partnered with the modern metal sounds of heavy guitars, aggressive vocals, and melodic keyboards. In addition to creating a new breed of sound, KRAMPUS´ focus on their lyrical content while addressing themes such as issues with humanity and nature, and environmental awareness. They´ll be appearing on this years edition of METALCAMP festival in August and the same month they´ll be releasing their long-awaited debut album. Fear the Krampus!

The fast rising Italian melodic folk death metal band KRAMPUS have been hard at work in the studio working on their first official release under Noise Art Records. KRAMPUS released the highly acclaimed EP Kronos’ Heritage in 2011 which helped put them on the map. The new album is slated to be released in late 2012, and the band just released a new Studio Diary featuring the recording of guitars, you can view it HERE.
KRAMPUS guitarists Alessandro Galliera and Leonardo Rizzi also just inked an endorsement deal with Charvel Guitars.
KRAMPUS won the Rock the Nation 2011 Award which lead to them inking a deal with Noise Art Records. The band has been recording at Black Mirror Studios in Udine, Italy.
