Bloodstock Open Air (August 7 – 10 2014) organizators have issued the following:
The good news keeps coming for metal fans, with BLOODSTOCK announcing three more additions to the 2014 bill.
LACUNA COIL are set to grace the main stage on Saturday. The band have just wrapped recording of their new studio album, which is pencilled for a late March release via Century Media. Fiery frontwoman, Cristina Scabbia comments “To be back at BLOODSTOCK will be such a BLAST! I can’t wait to see my family of Coilers in the UK again and to meet new friends. I promise pure damn adrenaline from our stage!! See ya there!”, whilst co-vocalist, Andrea Ferro enthuses “The UK is one of my favourite places to perform, it’s really special. The audiences are so enthusiastic, their approach to rock music just feels similar to my own somehow and that’s why I’m really excited to be part of Bloodstock Open Air 2014! It will be LACUNA COIL’s second time there and I’m curious to see how the festival has grown. We will have songs from the new album and some LC classics, so see ya all in the summer!” Check out their video for ‘Trip the Darkness’ from last album, ‘Dark Adrenaline’ on the Youtube video below:
Slipping into Saturday’s special guest slot are CARCASS. Having released their critically acclaimed new album, ‘Surgical Steel’ via new record label, Nuclear Blast in September, the band are looking forward to their Catton Park return. Bassist/vocalist Jeff Walker warns, “Unfinished business… CARCASS will return to Bloodstock 2014. With new blood, new album, new songs, we’ll be firing on all cylinders. If you think you’ve already seen this band, think again. We’ll see you come what may in the mud and the rain, there to knock the air out of your inflatable swords and knock the wind out of your sails. Let there be rot!” Check out the lyric video for ‘Captive Bolt’ on the Youtube video below:
Irish celtic/pagan metal five-piece, PRIMORDIAL also join the bill. Renowned for their atmospheric and powerful stage shows, the band impressed many at 2011’s BLOODSTOCK in the wake of the release of last album, ‘Redemption At The Puritan’s Hand’. Making their return for next year, PRIMORDIAL are not a band who tour relentlessly, so take the opportunity to catch them and their unique sound at BLOODSTOCK 2014. Lacuna Coil recently finished recording their new album with producer Jay Baumgardner, who has previously worked with diverse artists such as P.O.D, SEVENDUST, EVANESCENCE AND PAPA ROACH, just to mention a few.
After the first days of recording the band were already happy with the magic happening in the studio:
Cristina Scabbia: “I am so excited to work on new stuff… I am sure a lot of people will be mesmerized by the cinematic vibe of the new album that’s underway. I’m very happy to have the chance to work with Jay. Not only is he a pro in what he does, but I am just loving the fact we are going to experiment with new sounds and are getting a different point of view about our art. We’re swamped with the music already… Lacuna Coil is back baby!!!”
Andrea Ferro (vocals): “We met Jay a few years ago in L.A. and had a really positive feeling about him, as he has produced and mixed some of my favourite records and some very relevant rock/metal albums. We have decided to work with him, because he has the ability to work together with the band towards a common vision without driving the band away from their sound. In the studio there is the right energy that allows common people to achieve uncommon results!”
Cristiano “Pizza” Migliore (guitars): Yeah, and we’re very excited about finally recording new songs – and I can assure you that the new stuff kicks ass!”

According to Bravewords.com, Metal Symphony recently caught up with LACUNA COIL vocalist Cristina Scabbia. An excerpt from the interview is available below:

M.S: As you usually do, you’ve been touring in the US once again, do you consider there’s some point at which you feel more supported in the US than in Europe? What can you recall of this last tour?
Scabbia: “I think we pretty much have the same support from both sides of the ocean. The States are bigger so when we tour there, tours are longer and we need to stay there a lot, but we also have a great following in Europe.I am so happy about the fact that we can connect to so many people I’ve never even met. Music is magical.”
M.S: Next October you’ll join the line-up of the MFVF in Belgium. After 11 years of this festival, what do you think it still has to offer to the audience?
Scabbia: “The bands are quite different every edition so there is always a surprise in terms of newcomers or new shows given by the most known acts. If you like bands fronted women this is definitely the place to be, and is also something unique in the world!
M.S: On your side, what will you offer MFVF’s audience? Last year you were there to celebrate its 10th anniversary, will this year’s show be different from that one? Will you gift us with a new song maybe?
Scabbia: We played last year and it was a success, so we’ve been invited again and decided to do something we’ve never done before, play one complete album from the past. We will be playing ALL the songs from the album Karmacode, plus some more…”
