Former HADES members Dan Lorenzo, Ron Lipnicki (who also played drums for Overkill for ten years) and Jimmy Schulman have just recorded the KISS cover “Larger Than Life”. A video for the recording can be seen below:
Schulman commented, “When I was a teenager people would say, Gene Simmons sucked as a player. I didn’t think so.. but it wasn’t until I saw a candid photo of him tuning his bass to a strobe tuner unaware, no posturing, no tongue.. I then knew he was a real musician.”
Lorenzo, Lipnicki and Schulman recently released Cassius King Kovers Kiss (*Plus one for Lemmy) which included former Exodus frontman Rob Dukes singing Strange Ways and God of Thunder. The cover CD had no bar-code and was not for sale. The trio have also recently recorded covers by AC/DC, Aerosmith and Cheap Trick at JROD Productions in Somona, NY.
Schulman said, “I’m recording songs I grew up listening to as teenager in the ’70s. What a fuckin’ blast! I didn’t know how to play them then.. it only took 40 yrs to finally learn how to play them!”
Massachusetts’ Dark Symphonies recently released a 30th anniversary edition of Hades If At First You Don’t Succeed as well as Resisting Success with 12 page booklets included full of rare photos and band member comments.
“It’s amazing that we have two albums that were released 30 yrs ago.. shit, Kiss has 40th year anniversary albums out, what the fuck?”, Schulman said.
Cassius King’s video for Larger Than Life was produced by Noah Buchanan.
