Southern California heavy metal veterans LEATHERWOLF are celebrating Halloween with the release of a horror themed video for the song ‘Lights Out Agan’ off their most recent full-length album, ‘Kill The Hunted’. The clip features vocalist Keith Adamiak, the Triple Axe Attack of Rob Math, Luke Man and David Coffman, bassist Brice Snyder, and drummer Dean Roberts and can be viewed on the band’s YouTube channel below.
The band once again collaborated with award winning Spanish filmmaker, Èric Boadella, whose credits include L.A. Guns, Black Swan, and Revolution Saints, among others. Filmed at The Barracks in Downtown Los Angeles, ‘Lights Out Agan’ finds the band in the clutches of a train driving wolfman on the way to their next concert but his train runs out of blood! “We’ve done several videos with Eric and this one is definitely different”, says Roberts. “All the others have pretty much been straight forward performance videos – this one has a bit of a storyline, it’s sort of a mini-horror movie with an element of camp. Eric came up with the concept and we pretty much gave him and his crew free reign. I think it turned out really cool and the whole vibe of the clip is perfect for Halloween so here we go!”
LEATHERWOLF are currently working on an EP for 2025 which is set to feature a mix of new songs and re-recordings of several tracks from the band’s catalog. The first of these re-recordings, a remake of ‘Thunder’ off 1989’s ‘Street Ready’, re-titled ‘Thunder (MMXXII)’, was released as a bonus track on the Japanese CD and the vinyl edition of ‘Kill The Hunted’ and features a lead guitar guest appearance by Joel Hoekstra (WHITESNAKE, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA, REVOLUTION SAINTS).
Orange County CA metal stalwarts LEATHERWOLF have released a video for the song ‘Nobody’ off their latest studio album, ‘Kill The Hunted’, available via N.I.L.8 in North America, Rock of Angels in Europe, Hellion Records in South America, and Rubicon Music in Japan. The video can be viewed on the band’s YouTube channel.
The clip was helmed by award winning Spanish director Eric Boadella whose credits include L.A. GUNS, BLACK SWAN, and REVOLUTION SAINTS and stars founding member/drummer, Dean Roberts, lead vocalist Keith Adamiak, bassist Brice Snyder, and the Triple Axe Attack of Rob Math, Luke Man, and David Coffman. “We had worked with Eric and his crew on our earlier videos for ‘Thunder (MMXXII)’ and ‘Only the Wicked’ and things went really well, on the set as well as post-production-wise, so it was a no-brainer to bring him in for ‘Nobody’ as well”, states Roberts. “I think this may be the best one we’ve done yet – it’s a no frills, in-your-face performance video that captures our live energy quite well.”
On the live front, LEATHERWOLF will be hitting the road in August and September for 7 shows, including 5 apperances with New York metal legends RIOT. “We are stoked to be teaming up with Riot for these shows – the fans are in for a real treat and a great night of classic American heavy metal!”, enthuses Roberts. “Hopefully this is only the beginning and we can take this package everywhere across the United States and Canada in the future. We are also doing a couple of headline shows in Arizona the weekend before we kick things off with Riot in Denver. We have not been out that way in a long time so we are looking forward to finally bringing the Triple Axe Attack back to the desert.”
Confirmed LEATHERWOLF tour dates are as follows: Aug 23 – The 44, Glendale AZ Aug 24 – House of Bards, Tucson AZ Aug 30 – The Oriental Theater, Denver CO* Aug 31 – El Corazon, Seattle WA* Sept 27 – Westown Theater, Bay City MI* Sept 28 – The Base Bar & Grill, Springfield MI* Sept 29 – Reggies, Chicago IL* * with Riot

The ‘Only the Wicked’ clip was filmed at a West Los Angeles CA location with award winning Spanish director Eric Boadella of Nlight Productions whose credits include L.A. GUNS, BLACK SWAN, and REVOLUTION SAINTS. “‘Only the Wicked’ is one of the songs off ‘Kill The Hunted’ that’s been receiving the most positive feedback and it’s a personal favorite of mine as well”, states drummer/founding member, Dean Roberts. “In another era, this would’ve probably been our lead-off single – it’s got a strong chorus and definite radio potential. The thought of doing a video and hopefully giving the song some extra attention had actually been lingering for a while so I’m glad we made it a reality. We had a blast shooting with Eric and his dedicated crew and we’re all pretty stoked how it turned out. Hopefully the fans will dig it as well.”
LEATHERWOLF recently issued a limited edition double vinyl version of ‘Kill The Hunted’, including a bonus track remake of their 1989 ‘Street Ready’ classic, ‘Thunder’. Retitled ‘Thunder (MMXXII)’, the song features a lead guitar special guest appearance by Joel Hoekstra (WHITESNAKE, ICONIC, TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA). Copies are available on the band’s Big Cartel store at leatherwolf.bigcartel.com/.
Concurrent with the Friday, October 13 release of the ‘Only the Wicked video/single, the full ‘Kill The Hunted’ album will be made available on all streaming services, including Spotify.

Southern California metal outfit LEATHERWOLF have announced the release of their latest video and single, ‘Thunder (MMXXII)’, in support of the forthcoming ‘Kill The Hunted’ vinyl edition. A powerful remake of their 1989 ‘Street Ready’ classic, ‘Thunder (MMXXII)’ will be available on all major digital platforms, including the group’s Bandcamp leatherwolfmetal.bandcamp.com/track/thunder-mmxxii, on July 25, with the vinyl set for an August 18 release, just ahead of the band’s August 23 headline show at the Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood CA.
“‘Thunder’ has always been a strong fan favorite and a song that’s been a mainstay in our setlist over the years”, says drummer/founding member, Dean Roberts. “Once we started putting together the ‘Kill The Hunted’ album, we knew we’d likely need an extra track or two for different editions. That’s when the idea arose to re-record a few of the old songs, including ‘Thunder’, with the new band. You know, as much as I like the original versions, I was always curious what they would sound like with today’s sonic possibilities. And I think the result speaks for itself – the new ‘Thunder’ is sounding so much more metal! Keith (Adamiak) is killing it on vocals and giving it that extra edge, Rob (Math) is on fire, and Joel (Hoekstra) put down an amazing guest solo which Luke (Man) will be playing live. So far, ‘Thunder (MMXXII)’ has only been available as a bonus track on the Japanese ‘Kill The Hunted’ CD so we’re excited to be able to present the track to a wider audience through vinyl and digital.”
LEATHERWOLF recently shot a video for ‘Thunder (XXMMII)’ at a West Los Angeles facility, helmed by award winning Spanish director Eric Boadella of Nlight Productions whose credits include L.A.Guns, Black Swan, and Revolution Saints.
Pre-orders for ‘Kill The Hunted’, which will be issued as a colored vinyl double LP housed in a gatefold sleeve, with artwork by Marc Sasso (Dio, Halford, Rob Rock), can be placed through the official LEATHERWOLF Big Cartel store at https://leatherwolf.bigcartel.com/

Re-charged Orange County CA metal mavens LEATHERWOLF have released a video for the title track of their forthcoming new studio album, ‘Kill The Hunted’, set for release November 11 via N.I.L.8 and Rock of Angels in North America and Europe, respectively, November 14 through Hellion Records in South America, and November 17 on Rubicon Music in Japan. The video can be viewed on the band’s YouTube channel, below.
Showcasing the band’s innate ability to create hard driving anthemic metal, ‘Kill The Hunted’ was conceived in 2008 by drummer/producer, Dean Roberts, but not revisited and completed until some ten years later after the band fractured in the wake of a short European tour. “I starting writing the lyrics in 2018, prompted by what led to the split with our old singer. So the song is very personal to me but it could apply to anybody in a simliar situation,” reflects Roberts. “The lyrics are really about self-discovery – discovery about all the negative stuff that was around me. And that I had to do something about it and make a change. The second verse, “I can feel the darkness that surrounds me / killing everything that I create / wasteland’s rule by death and the forsaken / bind and tie the blood that runs within” speaks to those feelings. In the final verse, the song conveys a more positive, self-empowering tone though. I gotta give props to Rob (Math) and Keith (Adamiak) who helped finish the song in the studio and helped me telling that story to myself. It really made me realize that I needed to move on.”
‘Kill The Hunted’, which was mixed by legendary producer/engineer, Randy Burns (Megadeth, Kreator, Helstar) and mastered by Tom Baker (Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Pantera), introduces powerful new vocalist, Keith Adamiak, alongside long-time guitarist, Rob Math, young shredder Luke Man who first joined the fold in 2017 as a touring member, founding member, Dean Roberts, veteran bassist, Barry Sparks (MSG, Dokken, Yngwie Malmsteen), and guitarist/keyboardist, Wayne Findlay (MSG, Slavior, Vinnie Moore), to complete the vaunted Triple Axe Attack. The current LEATHERWOLF live line-up which had its baptism of fire earlier this year at the M3 Festival also features bassist Brice Snyder, on loan from OC thrashers Art of Shock.
The ‘Kill The Hunted’ single is now available on all major digital platforms and is the follow-up to ‘Hit the Dirt’ and ‘The Henchman’, the latter featuring a guest appearance by Whitesnake‘s fleet-fingered axe wizard, Joel Hoekstra. Lyric videos for both can be found here: https://youtu.be/LhsNAMJFN-Q and here: https://youtu.be/z9LoCaOvOjA

The metal files: From Leatherwolf to Kill The Hunted
Long before British metal legends Iron Maiden picked up on the concept, a pack of Huntington Beach, CA-based teenagers, collectively known as LEATHERWOLF, pioneered and perfected the heavy metal three guitar assault, nicknamed the Triple Axe Attack, while sharing the bill with Orange County contemporaries Metallica and Slayer at long since defunct venues such as the Concert Factory, Radio City, and the Woodstock.
Their much-lauded eponymous 1984 debut EP for Tropical Records, expanded to a full-length LP, titled Endangered Species for international release, and a pair of stunning albums for Island Records, Leatherwolf (’87) and Street Ready (’89), which yielded the MTV videos The Calling and Hideaway, respectively, saw LEATHERWOLF fly the flag for decidedly European rooted metal amidst a sea of formulaic L.A. glam and sleaze.
After a self-imposed break during the 1990s grunge and alt rock craze, the band’s classic line-up resurfaced in 1999 with the storming live album Wide Open. In 2006, LEATHERWOLF emerged with a revamped line-up to once again turn the metal world on its ear with the well-received World Asylum, the band’s heaviest effort to date, mixed by Danish studio whiz Jacob Hansen of Volbeat fame. It was followed by the quasi Best of’ Unchained Live in 2013.
Having survived line-up shake-ups and the Corona pandemic unscathed, LEATHERWOLF are finally set to unleash their long-awaited fifth studio album Kill The Hunted, a record as uncompromising and deadly as the title suggests. It marks the latest chapter in the band’s storied history as founding member/drummer Dean Roberts and long-time guitarist Rob Math are joined by fierce new vocalist Keith Adamiak, young shredder Luke Man, guitarist/keyboardist Wayne Findlay, and bassist Barry Sparks, the latter pair alumni of the Michael Schenker Group.
Produced by Dean Roberts, the band’s primary driving force for many years, Kill The Hunted took the better part of three years to complete, from the initial writing and demo sessions in 2019, when the band first introduced Adamiak on The Henchman, a multi-tier epic and key track on the album (including a fleet-fingered guest appearance by Joel Hoekstra of Whitesnake). An 11-course metal feast for the senses, Kill the Hunted runs the gamut from visceral daggers such as the in-your-face opener Hit the Dirt and shinkickers Madhouse and Medusa, to the anthemic Only the Wicked, and the tense and brooding (Evil) Empires Fall, whose vibes recall the crushing Kill And Kill Again off the band’s 1984 debut EP.
In a classic full circle moment, LEATHERWOLF re-connected with engineer/producer Randy Burns (Megadeth, Kreator, Helstar), who had manned the boards for the aforementioned EP all those years ago. Burns was eager to jump aboard and apply his mixing expertise to Kill The Hunted before the files were put into the hands of L.A. mastering legend Tom Baker (Judas Priest, Mötley Crüe, Pantera) for the final polish.
The eye-catching Kill The Hunted artwork was created by noted artist Marc Sasso, whose credits include Dio, Halford and Rob Rock.
Southern California heavy metallers LEATHERWOLF have issued the following statement:
We just wanted to set the record straight regarding a statement/press release that’s been put out there announcing a new LEATHERWOLF studio album featuring former LW members Carey Howe, Geoff Gayer and Wade Black. Whatever Carey, Geoff and Wade are working on – it will NOT be released under the name LEATHERWOLF! The legal rights to the name LEATHERWOLF lie with the line-up featuring original band members Dean Roberts and Michael Olivieri that recently performed on the Monsters of Rock cruise and Keep It True festival in Germany.
It is unfortunate that Carey Howe, the main instigator in all this, is trying to wreak havoc and create the false impression that he, Geoff and Wade are back in LEATHERWOLF, which is not the case. He may have succeeded in hijacking the original LEATHERWOLF Facebook page and YouTube channel but he will not succeed in hijacking the name LEATHERWOLF as well.
We ask you to please only consult the official LEATHERWOLF website http://leatherwolfmetal.com and Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/leatherwolfmetal for any and all news regarding band activities.
