THREE LIONS frontman Nigel Bailey makes a powerful impression with “Long Way Down”, the debut album from his solo project BAILEY. Within a few seconds, opening song “Feed The Flames” brings to mind the likes of Thin Lizzy and UFO, and if you’re a fan of those bands, and of the golden era of Rock in which they were at their peak, then you should find plenty to enjoy here. Nigel’s voice is melodic and powerful, with a raw edge, a description which applies to the sound of the album as a whole. Overall, it’s definitely Hard Rock, but with enough guitar muscle to border on Metal territory in places (“In The Name Of The King” and the title song spring to mind), and boasts the added attraction of vocal melodies run through with a healthy shot of AOR. In addition to Mr Bailey’s usual vocal and bass duties, he also turns his hand to guitar here, paired up with Mario Percudani, and they make a very effective partnership; passionate solos and soaring twin leads pepper the tracks, these harmonies in particular providing more musical hooklines alongside the catchy riffs and vocal lines. Here’s hoping Nigel takes these songs out on the road and establishes his namesake project as an ongoing band.

THREE LIONS frontman Nigel Bailey has released the first official video “In the Name of the King”, taken from his debut album “Long Way Down” , set to be released on December 5th in Europe and December 9th in North America, via Frontiers Music Srl. Watch the video below:

BAILEY is the new solo project masterminded by THREE LIONS frontman Nigel Bailey. Although a relatively new name on the scene, Nigel has a vast experience as both a songwriter and performer. His deal with Frontiers served to bring to light his shining talent both as a powerful vocalist and also as a songwriter. Brand new compositions along with some material written over the years have been combined to complete an exciting solo debut. “I wrote the bulk of the album songs between 2011 and mid 2012” says Nigel. “The plan was to write songs with no particular influences in mind. I have always loved rock music and wrote songs as they came to me. I didn’t have a particular style in mind which is reflected in the various styles on the record.”

With some similarities to THREE LIONS in terms of influences, BAILEY is slightly heavier and more varied in its approach whilst still maintaining the edge and the trademark melodies of Classic British Hard Rock tradition. “If pushed, I would say that In The Name Of The King, Long Way Down and Stay are my personal favourites and show the variety in my writing and vocal style” tells Nigel. This record will be a surprise for many and an absolute must for all British Melodic Hard Rock fans!

BAILEY will also have a debut live FREE show on December 4th at The Coniston live music venue in Bradford, UK. Nigel will be performing songs from the album as well as some surprises along with his bandmates and special friends!

OZZY OSBOURNE / FIREWIND guitarist GUS G. released a limited and expanded edition of his debut solo album, I Am The Fire, this week via Century Media Records. To promote this release, a striking new video for the album’s single “Long Way Down” (Feat. Alexia Rodriguez) has been shot by acclaimed director and long-time GUS G. creative partner Patric Ullaeus (IN FLAMES, WITHIN TEMPTATION, AT THE GATES, etc.). GUS G. has checked in to comment about the video’s background and storyline:
“I worked on this track with producer Kevin Churko (OZZY, 5FDP, etc.), his son Kane and Alexia Rodriguez from EYES SET TO KILL. Once we finished it, we knew we had a special song in our hands. The ‘Long Way Down’ lyrics were inspired by a scene I witnessed many years ago, when I briefly lived in Sweden. What I saw, is the exact storyline with the girl in this video.

We hear about suicides all the time in the news, it’s always shocking. Hundreds of thousands of people deal with depression everyday. They’re brave. SINOCENCE Premiere New Video ‘Long Way Down’

Future PR has issued that the Northern Irish rockers SINOCENCE have teamed up with Planet Mosh exclusively to premiere the official music video for ‘Long Way Down’ taken from the quartets most recent record ‘No Gods, No Masters’ Vol 1. The video was shot in Belfast in the cities Titanic Quarter; across the street from where the Iron Throne resides famed in the epic fantasy television drama and book series Game of Thrones.

George Clarke from Yellowfever Productions worked with the band on the shooting and directed ‘Long Way Down’. “George is pretty much the biggest independent film maker in Ireland and has won awards across the world for his films. We talked with him for 10 minutes and were like, right, this is guy”, states guitarist Anthony McCaughley. “As far as the location goes we wanted to be in a fairly dramatic space but we just wanted to present ourselves as a band and kept it as real as possible. The location we chose was the Titanic Quarter area of Belfast. Just across the street from the Paint Hall Studios where the Game of Thrones sets are and in the shadow of the Harland and Wolf Cranes where the Titanic was built. We were gonna shoot it in the dry dock were the Titanic actually was put together but it was going to cost a fortune [laughs]… maybe next time…”

Commenting on the song itself Anthony continues, “It’s about choosing a path in life and the dealing with struggles that lie upon that path. It deals with how much someone is prepared to lose or risk, to follow their heart and do something they believe in. Maybe to others distain at times. Doing anything that is a lifetime’s work to see a goal fulfilled is always going to be tough. Once you go down that road… you know… it takes stamina and balls to stick to it.”

‘No Gods, No Masters’ Vol 1 was self-released by the band late last year and has been cited as “one step short of genius!” by Planet Mosh and “an album of depth of feeling… excellent and surprisingly detailed” by Metal Ireland.
