New York hardcore pioneers AGNOSTIC FRONT have announced the details for their upcoming eleventh album, The American Dream Died, produced by MADBALL singer Freddy Cricien and engineered, mixed and mastered by Paul Miner (H2O, TERROR) and will be released April 4 (Europe) and April 7 (N. America), 2015 via Nuclear Blast Records. The record will feature guest appearances by Cricien, Toby Morse (H2O) and Lou Koller (SICK OF IT ALL).
Commented singer Roger Miret: “We chose this title because we want to open up people’s eyes to what’s going on in this country. We have a lot to say. Not everyone realizes that our government and the people who run this country are so corrupt, greedy and ruthless. We need to educate the ones we reach. We’re losing our values. We address real issues from full blown corruption and scandals to unjust police abuse and brutality. Everything’s we stood for as a country is going down the drain. But we still somewhat have our freedom of speech. We’re expressing it all through this record while we can.”

These rarely confronted and always respected leaders of hardcore were established as one of the meanest-sounding bands in the emerging punk genre, helping to initiate the term “hardcore,” and placing an entire uproar on the New York map by association. From the start, AGNOSTIC FRONT released a catalogue of fast and violent punk tunes consisting of distinctive and aggressive drumming, fuming guitars, overdriven bass work, and a non-stop barrage of chaotic shouting.
AGNOSTIC FRONT’s latest record, My Life My Way, was released on March 22, 2011. It features 13 powerful and anthemic songs laid down by Erik Rutan (MADBALL, GOATWHORE, CANNIBAL CORPSE, etc.) at his Mana Recording Studio in Tampa, FL under the watchful guide of producer Freddy Cricien of MADBALL. The record was mastered by none other than Alan Douches (NILE, MASTODON, etc.).
»Hardcore Lives«, out via Nuclear Blast, the brand new and long awaited new album by NYHC legends MADBALL has hit the official album charts in several European countries:
Commented singer Freddy Cricien: “Just got word that our new record »Hardcore Lives« has just hit the charts in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Belgium! I don’t recall us ever hitting the charts in Europe. We are very pleased, excited, and thankful to our supporters for making this possible – hardcore lives indeed!!”
The official video for the second single, ‘Born Strong’, has been revealed recently. The track features WALLS OF JERICHOs front lady Candace Puopolo on guest vocals. Check it out at this location:
The band also posted a new video trailer in which they talk the guest appearances on their upcoming album, »Hardcore Lives«: http://youtu.be/RlMAoPEpz8I
»Hardcore Lives« was tracked & engineered by famed UNEARTH guitarist Ken Susi and mixed & mastered by long time collaborator Zeuss (HATEBREED, AGNOSTIC FRONT, SOULFLY, TERROR, WHITECHAPEL…).
Official promo photos were taken by LAMB OF GOD’s very own Randall D. Blythe.
Iconic frontman, Freddy Cricien, explains the album title as follows: „I shouted “Hardcore Lives” on MADBALL’s first release, »Ball Of Destruction« – I was twelve then. It wasn’t pre planned or written down… it was an ad-lib that I just threw out there and we kept it! Back then there was no choice really, not the way we were recording – two track live at Don Fury’s… NYHC style! I feel the sentiment behind the expression still holds true today, maybe even more so. Hence the reason we finally chose to use it as a title. Sure, it’s about waving the flag for our genre/culture, etc. – I’ve always felt that “we as a scene” had to scream just a lil louder… to be heard! That said, »Hardcore Lives« at least to us, is not just about a cool “catchphrase” – it’s about that rebellious spirit that doesn’t give in… In life, music, whatever. It’s about growing, evolving, and maintaining your integrity in the process. It’s about family, overcoming adversity, and respect. All the things that matter inside and outside of the music realm. It’s for everyone and anyone with an open mind and heart.“
»Hardcore Lives« is available as limited edition digipak and on black vinyl, both including two additional bonus tracks: ‘The Beast’ which also appeared on 2012’s EP »Rebellion« and ‘Spit On Your Grave’ from 1994’s landmark release »Set It Off« – both tracks have been exclusively re-recorded for the inclusion on »Hardcore Lives«.
The album also includes guest appearances by some of hardcore’s most noteable singers: Scott Vogel (TERROR), Toby Morse (H20) and Candace Puopolo (formerly Kucsulain, WALLS OF JERICHO).

MADBALL, for many of us, means NYHC (New York Hardcore) at its best and purest form! Since the late 80s’ these Guys carry with them the same rage and rebellion that they always have. The blood, the honor and the truth lives on through the band to this day, and MADBALL dares to embrace the responsibility of carrying on tradition – the rich NYHC tradition that is understood by few, and imitated by many. MADBALL is one of the few bands representing this thing called Hardcore with enough triumphs, tests and overall experience under its belt, to be qualified leaders. “Hardcore Lives”, the ninth album of these NYHC Icons MADBALL was released on June 27th, via Nuclear Blast. 17 killer songs, without compromises, talking strictly about the band’s every-day-life between family, touring and DMS crew. Infact, MADBALL‘s vital element is lyrics, each word is “up-in-your-face” and leaves the listener no choice but to listen to these Guys carefully and what they have to say.
Just a couple of weeks ago, Tarja Virmakari had a nice chat with MADBALL‘s charismatic vocalist, Freddy Cricien. He spoke widely about the band’s new album and the real “True School” behind it. Tarja and Freddy also talked about the NY hardcore scene and spirit today and that eventually, people grow up, but that doesn’t mean we should ever abandon the fundamentals of the movement, respecting the old ways, without forgetting that it’s a new day = True School! To hear more about this and more, please join the conversation below.
