Fresh from their secret set at last weekend’s DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL, Steel City Kings MALEVOLENCE have released a new single from their massively anticipated new album, ‘Where Only The Truth Is Spoken’, which is out now via MLVLTD in partnership with Nuclear Blast Records.
The video comes in response to a takedown of their previous single ‘Salt The Wound’, which was forcibly removed from Nuclear Blast’s YouTube channel after The National Trust threatened legal action.
Apparently pretending to play the guitar for a couple of hours on a public path that thousands of tourists walk up every single day is a criminal offence worth pursuing,” said the band in a statement.
“The video is a celebration of where we come from and we’re proud of what we made. Fortunately… Someone has anonymously uploaded a version back to YouTube” they continued.
New single ‘So Help Me God’ sees the band safely performing within the walls of the historic Abbeydale Picture House cinema in Sheffield.
“This song is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever written. This song is a raw exploration of my own resentment, and unresolved anger” comments frontman ALEX TAYLOR.
“For the video, we wanted to match the tone of the song and have a raw performance driven video full of energy and aggression.”
The band surprised revellers at DOWNLOAD FESTIVAL on Sunday, after days of speculation around this year’s secret act. During a stunning set in a packed out AVALANCHE stage, guitarist Konan Hall unveiled his brand new guitar – a one of a kind collaboration between Jackson® Guitars and Blizzard Entertainment’s World of Warcraft® (more details below)

Steel City Kings MALEVOLENCE have released a new single from their massively anticipated new album, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, which is set to be released on the 20th June via MLVLTD in partnership with Nuclear Blast Records.
Compared to the punishing previous singles, ‘Trenches‘ and ‘If It’s All The Same To You‘the brand new release ‘Salt The Wound’ shows a more emotional side of MALEVOLENCE, but that only makes its incredibly heavy chorus stand out even more.
Alex Taylor (vocals) commented: “‘Salt The Wound‘ is the product of us making a conscious decision to bridge the two faces of Malevolence. On one hand we have the heavy aggressive side, and on the other we have the slower melodic songs, so we wanted a song that could combine the two. The video was entirely shot in Sheffield and the surrounding areas. From the industrial depths of Sheffield, a 900-year-old ruined Abbey, to a perfect sunrise over some of the incredible hills of Derbyshire, there is some incredible scenery in the north of the UK which we sometimes take for granted, so this song felt like the perfect opportunity to show case some of that. From the moment I heard the guitar solo Josh had written for this song, I pictured him on a mountain top doing the solo, so we made it happen, Malev style!”

Frontman Alex Taylor comments: “Yo! We are very excited to announce the biggest headline tour of career yet… It’s absolutely insane to us that we are booked in these huge, historic & legendary venues and we need all of your support to prove to the world of metal that we are capable to smash them as a headliner. We put together the sickest support bill we could possibly find, featuring some of the coolest current bands from across the world – with the goal of creating the biggest and baddest Malev show of all time. We can’t wait. See you in Brixton Academy!”

ABOUT MALEVOLENCE
MALEVOLENCE have never waited for permission. From the underground to festival main stages, they’ve built their reputation on sheer force of will, crushing live shows, and an unshakable foundation of heavy riffs and harder work. Now, with their fourth studio album Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, Sheffield’s finest step into a new league.
Recorded in California at Dave Grohl’s legendary Studio 606, the album was tracked through the iconic Neve 8078 console, the same desk that captured game-changing records like Nirvana’s Nevermind, Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours, and Tom Petty’s Wildflowers. For a band that’s always pushed forward without compromise, it was the perfect setting to carve out a record that represents everything MALEVOLENCEstands for. The album marks a new level of songwriting precision without sacrificing the band’s trademark weight. Working alongside Grammy Award-winning producer Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Gojira, Trivium), the result is MALEVOLENCE at their most punishing, urgent, and anthemic.
Lyrically, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken reflects the principles that MALEVOLENCE have lived by since day one—honesty, loyalty, and integrity. These are not just themes woven into the album but values the band holds in their personal and professional lives. This record doesn’t deal in facades or empty gestures; it’s an unfiltered expression of the struggles, victories, and unshakable brotherhood that have carried them this far.
Steel City Kings MALEVOLENCE have announced the details of their hugely anticipated new album, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken, set to be released on the 20th June via MLVLTD in partnership with Nuclear Blast Records.
Alongside the news of their new album, MALEVOLENCE have also released the video for their monumental new single ‘If It’s All The Same To You’. Featuring acting legend Alan Ford, who most famously appeared as Brick Top in Guy Ritchie’s classic British gangster film Snatch, the band’s new video is their biggest visual production to date. It sees the five-piece take on an elaborate art heist, before engaging in a white knuckle car chase with the Police. There may even be some easter eggs to be found throughout that hint at what MALEVOLENCE have in store for the future.
On their new album, the band comment: “‘Where Only the Truth Is Spoken’ is a level up in every sense—musically, lyrically, and visually. This was our first time recording outside the UK, and doing it in LA with Josh Wilbur was fun and refreshing. He’s worked with some of the biggest names in metal, and his approach pushed us to challenge new heights. The production, the songwriting, the videos—everything about this record is bigger, heavier, and more refined. Everything in Malevolence is, and always has been, a team effort and I feel like everyone really delivered on this record. To everyone who supports what we do, thank you. It goes without saying that we wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for your overwhelming support. I’m excited to see where the journey goes next! Malevolence Made in God’s own country, Where Only The Truth Is Spoken”

Sheffield’s metal powerhouse MALEVOLENCE have unleashed their brand-new single, ‘TRENCHES,’ embodying the raw resilience and grit of their Steel City roots. This standalone track is the first glimpse of their partnership with Grammy-winning producer Josh Wilbur, known for his work with heavyweights like Lamb of God, Korn, and Gojira. Amplifying their Northern backdrop, MALEVOLENCE also collaborated with in-demand director duo Double or Nothing Productions for a Metal video debut that demonstrates their unique identity in British Metal.
Vocalist Alex Taylor comments: “Trenches is possibly the most aggressive, ignorant and direct song we have ever written. Over the last few years, we’ve been playing more in the commercial metal circuit at festivals and arenas, so we wanted to take this opportunity to remind people that we still haven’t lost sight of where we came from. The lyrics are a declaration of not needing validation or approval, and a rejection of those who never supported the journey but only show their face when you achieve some level of success.”
