MATT STARR To Continue With MR BIG In 2015

Los Angeles Drummer Matt Starr will kick off 2015 touring South America and the U.S. with MR BIG, continuing his position filling in for drummer for Pat Torpey.  This comes on the heels of a two-month tour of Europe and Asia including a sold out show at the Budokan in Japan in October and November of this year.  Tour Dates: http://www.mrbigsite.com

Starr’s participation in the 2014 MR BIG tour meant that he was not available to tour with KISS guitarist Ace Frehley in support of the 2014 release, “Space Invader”, to which Starr contributed all drum tracks. The album debuted at #9 on the Billboard 200 and sold over 20,000 copies in its first week.  “I had a great time working with Ace on “Space Invader”, says Starr.  “I’m very proud of that record and the fans have responded so favorably, comparing it to his 1978 record, that was quite an honor.”

Before the years’ end Starr will join former Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich, Keith St John (Montrose) and Sean McNabb (Quiet Riot/Dokken), collectively known as Burning Rain, for a short Northwest tour. Tour Dates: http://www.burningrain.net

MR. BIG Confirm New Drummer For 2014 World Tour

Following earlier announcement detailing the revised September 29th UK release date for Mr. Big’s forthcoming studio album …The Stories We Could Tell (Sept 30th in North America), the band have today confirmed Matt Starr as drummer Pat Torpey’s replacement on their upcoming 2014 World Tour.

Starr, currently Ace Frehley’s drummer, will sit in for Torpey (who was recently diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease) throughout Mr. Big’s tour in support of the new album.

ACE FREHLEY: Working On New Album

Original KISS guitarist Ace Frehley has spent the past few days in the studio with drummer Matt Starr (BURNING RAIN) and bassist Chris Wyse (THE CULT, OWL) working on Ace‘s new album.

A couple of photos from the most recent studio sessions can be seen below.

Ace‘s latest CD, “Anomaly”, was released on September 15, 2009 via Ace‘s own Bronx Born Records, with Rocket Science providing a full label service platform in the U.S., “Anomaly” was produced and recorded in Westchester County, New York between 2007 and 2009 and was mixed in Los Angeles.

Frehley‘s memoir, “No Regrets: A Rock ‘N’ Roll Memoir”, landed at position No. 10 on the New York Times “Hardcover Nonfiction” best sellers list. The book, which is described as a look back at Ace‘s “life of sex, drugs, and rock-and-roll,” arrived in November 2011 via Gallery Books, an imprint of Simon & Schuster.

Frehley performed with KISS from its inception in 1973 until his first departure in 1982 before rejoining KISS in 1996 for a very successful reunion tour. Frehley‘s second stint lasted until 2002 as Ace went back to being a solo artist again, but the stories and memories still remain from touring in one of rock and roll’s most successful acts of all time.
