Thrash giants MEGADETH have posted that over 150 drummers played ‘Symphony Of Destruction’ in Brazil.
Bateras 100% Brazil is a project conceived by drummer Dino Verdade, owner of the biggest drum school franchise in Brazil, Bateras Beat.
The project’s goal is to gather as many drummers as possible to play together their own music and big hits, with the principle of sharing a killer groove.
On August 9, 2015 at Ibirapuera Park in Sao Paulo, Brazil, approximately 156 drummers, among them women, children, seniors and people of all ages, brought their own drum kits to play along to KISS, The Rolling Stones, Daft Punk and Megadeth:
On the stage, to play “Symphony Of Destruction”, were Amilcar Christófaro (Torture Squad), Jean Dolabella (Udora and ex-Sepultura), Bart (Whale Mutant), Edu Garcia (John Wayne) and Nana (Alma Djem), with Dino Verdade (Brotheria) conducting the band and all the drummers.
The project attempted to set a new Guinness World Record as the band with the largest number of drummers playing along.
MEGADETH and LAMB OF GOD are pleased to announce a full UK & Eire co-headline tour in November 2015. The tour will coincide with the release, later this year, of Megadeth’s 15th Studio album through Tradecraft / Universal. Lamb of God’s blistering new album ‘VII: Sturm und Drang’ will be released July 24 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment.
Formed in 1983, Megadeth are one of the true pioneers and innovators of metal music. The band have sold more than 38 million albums worldwide. The band released their 14th studio album, “Super Collider, in 2013 through Dave Mustaine’s own Tradecraft label. Megadeth have just finished recording a new studio album – due for release later in 2015. This year also marks the thirtieth anniversary of the release of their seminal debut album “Killing Is My Business…And Business Is Good”.
June 2015 saw Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine pick up the Golden God Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods 2015 at London’s Indigo at The O2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/newsbeat/article/33154299
Dave Mustaine says, “Having just finished an amazing record full of high-energy heavy metal with Chris Adler, Kiko Loureiro and David Ellefson, I am excited to announce this tour and see all of the metal fans come out for this one. I literally can’t wait to hit the stage again!”
The tour is a co-headline with Lamb Of God.
After headlining the second stage at the Download Festival last month, Virginian metal titans LAMB OF GOD are delighted to return to the UK as co-headliners this November. Hailed by Metal Hammer as “their finest outing in a decade”, Lamb of God’s blistering new album ‘VII: Sturm und Drang’ will be released July 24 via Nuclear Blast Entertainment. With 3 new songs already unveiled, you can now also hear new track ‘Erase This’ at: http://smarturl.it/EraseThisAudio. The band star on the front cover of Kerrang! this week. Respected longtime drummer Chris Adler recently joined the Megadeth ranks as well, so will perform with both bands each show.
“I have to say that it’s definitely exciting to be announcing this one! I’m more than pleased to let the world know that Lamb Of God will be sharing the bill with thrash metal legends, Megadeth, for five shows in the UK and Ireland, from November 9th-15th! It’s been almost a decade since we’ve had the opportunity to tour with Megadeth, and we’re absolutely thrilled to be teaming up with them once again for these very special UK dates. Also appearing will be our good friends and long time co-conspirators Children Of Bodom and Sylosis. This lineup is unstoppable! If you’re not stoked about this bill, then you very simply do not like heavy metal! Take a plane, take a boat, hitch a ride, take the tube, bring your Wellies…see you there!” – Mark Morton, Lamb Of God.
Support comes from CHILDREN OF BODOM and SYLOSIS.
World renowned Finnish heavy metal powerhouse Children Of Bodom are set to release their ninth studio album ‘I Worship Chaos’ worldwide on October 2, 2015 via Nuclear Blast Records. Over the last twenty years, Finland’s Children Of Bodom have incorporated many different musical styles into their celebrated sound, leading critics and fans to label them as melodic death metal, thrash metal, symphonic black metal, and neoclassical metal. Their enthralling mix of melodic hooks and instrumental acrobatics has solidified the band as one of the leading voices of music’s new generation.
Widely hailed as “One of the UK’s finest modern metal bands” (Kerrang!) Reading 4 piece Sylosis released their 4th album “Dormant Heart” back in January 2015, which was applauded as a ‘raging and triumphant beast of an album’ by Metal Hammer.

Polish journalist Jakub Czpioła of DeathMagnetic.pl recently conducted an interview with former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza. In the interview Nick talked mainly about his new projects with Chris Poland, James LoMenzo and a brand new project that’s rumored to be in the works with Rusty Cooley, Phil Sgrosso (ex-AS I LAY DYING), WOVENWAR and frontman Jon Howard (THREAT SIGNAL). He also admitted that rock will never die.
DeathMagnetic.pl: A few days ago you were recording drums track in Village Studio. Currently you are working on a project with Chris Poland, James LoMenzo and Rusty Cooley. What can we expect from the album and when it will be released?
Nick Menza: I do studio sessions for various artist’s of all types of music. I’m always available for hire. As far as the new project / band. Chris has had operation on his hand and we are waiting for his speedy recovery to get back to writing songs. Not to confuse anyone, but this project with Rusty is totally separate from the project with Chris Poland and James LoMenzo, I’m collaborating and record with as many musicians as can at this point, having fun and making heavy music i enjoy playing. I love every aspect of music, It’s my life. Rusty and I are talking with Phil Sgrosso from As I Lay Dying, Wovenwar as second guitar player and frontman Jon Howard of Threat Signal.
DeathMagnetic.pl:How did your collaboration with Rusty Cooley begin? Does the fact that he rejected a proposal to play in Megadeth had any meaning?
My manager Robert Bolger contacted Rusty to see if he was interested in jamming with me and he was, We have been talking and sending riffs to each other. He lives in Texas and I am in L. A. We’ll see what happens.
DeathMagnetic.pl: Will someone else join the band?
Yes my project with Poland and LoMenzo we will be looking for a second guitar player and singer witch I have a strong feeling who they will be, but it’s very premature to say who they are, Project with Cooley we will be seeking a bass player real soon.
DeathMagnetic.pl: You have not played in Europe since 1998. Will you go on tour with new music?
I’m sure we will tour. At the moment we focus on getting other members in place and writing songs.
DeathMagnetic.pl: You are Don Menza’s son, so music accompanied you since childhood. What are your musical influences? Are you listening to something that could surprise a typical metalhead?
I grew up listening to all types of music (classical, jazz, rock, pop, you name it). Heavy music is my favorite . Generally if music is good, I like it. It has to be real, with people actually playing together in same room . Not computer generated music that is lifeless. Right now I am listening to Opeth, Porcupine tree, Plini, Wydek, Sithu Aye, and the list goes on an on.. . .
DeathMagnetic.pl: Are your children playing on some instruments? Do you want them to continue „family tradition”?
My Boys are both into playing everything. I will support them in whatever they decide to do in their lives.
DeathMagnetic.pl: Would you agree with the statement that „Rock is Dead”? What bands do you think are the future of metal?
Rock will never die. Without it people would go insane and die. The future of metal is wide open for the taking. In my opinion Meshuggah is the heaviest of all metal. See them live and you will be crushed by oscillations of bass , drums, and ripping guitars and screams of terror.
DeathMagnetic.pl: Do you know maybe some Polish bands? Vader and Behemoth are very popular in the U.S.A. Marty Friedman once said that he loved Decapitated.
Wydek is from Poland [Ed.Note: Maciej „Widek” Dawidek]
DeathMagnetic.pl: if we touched the topic of Marty, I would like to know whether you keep in contact with him? Did you visited him once in Japan?
Yes, I spoke with Marty just this year . We meet for reunion with Megadeth. But it didn’t happen for either of us.
DeathMagnetic.pl: Let’s talk a little bit about drums. You are a old-school drummer. What do you think about musician who plays blast-beat and uses triggers?
I am a feel player. I think triggers are a must live. You want to sound great you must have great equipment. Triggers don’t make you play better. They enhance the sound of the drums. You want to have the best sound possible live.
DeathMagnetic.pl: Dave Lombardo talked that his favourite drummer is Eloy Casagrande from Sepultura. Who is your favourite percussion artist of the younger generation?
There are so many awesome drummers. It wouldn’t be fair to name just one. Buddy Rich is still the greatest drummer of all time. That’s my opinion!
DeathMagnetic.pl: Many fans believe that you are the best drummer of Megadeth. What do you think about your predecessors and successors?
I am grateful to all the fans for the support and kind words. Megadeth has had many great drummers. I was the 3rd out of 8 drummers who played in ‚Deth.
DeathMagnetic.pl: Back in 2002, your solo album „Life After Deth” was released, which I liked very much by the way. How would you rate it now? Are you planning to re-release it and record some new albums in the future? Could you tell us about the circumstances of its creation?
This was my first solo album I did myself, Played all instruments and vocals on it.There are things I love about it, and things I hate about it. I plan to re-release it. It was never released . I just had it up for sale on my Website. It sold like 10,000 copies. I love creating music. It’s my hobby . I do it everyday non-stop. I have so many songs that I just don’t know what to do with all of them. Maybe I will release a HardDrive full of songs 1000 gigs of music? (laugh)
DeathMagnetic.pl: After „Life After Deth” was released you disappeared from the music scene. What have you been doing during this time?
Raising 2 boys and enjoying life. Needed a break from touring and playing drums. Metal drumming takes its toll on your body. It’s like playing pro football. There is a window of opportunity when you are in your best shape to be one of top players in the world.
DeathMagnetic.pl: Do you often listen to music that you recorded? I mean, do you like to go back to the past?
Not usually by choice. But yes I do.
DeathMagnetic.pl: At the end I would like to ask you about the most unsual thing that ever happened to you on stage.
It was my 27th b-day and Mega were playing in Salt Lake. My tech Rob Corrsie had this stripper underneath my drum riser naked during the show. When I looked down she was inserting a drumstick into her vagina causing me to loose my way during the first song. Thanx Rob.
DeathMagnetic.pl: I must thank you very much for your precious time. Have a nice day, Nick. What else could you tell to your Polish fans?
Thank you to all the fans on this planet. Without you I would not be here today. Its all about the fans. Stay tuned there is more drumming coming. I love you all.
MEGADETH have posted on their Official Facebook Page, the first photo of the new line-up with Dave Mustaine, Kiko Loureiro (ANGRA), David Ellefson and Chris Adler (LAMB OF GOD), check it out below.
Nick Menza‘s manager, Robert S. Bolger, has issued, as follows:
Former MEGADETH drummer Nick Menza was recently offered a ‘very unfair deal to rejoin Megadeth’ In a brand new exclusive interview with Caleb Smith of the Heavy Metal Thrash, “The Sick Room” podcast in New Zealand, Nick Menza explains in depth the logistics of what went on in Dave Mustaine’s San Diego based Studio, you can you now listen to the two part interview below.
Menza: “I went and jammed with them for a 3 day weekend and then on the 3rd day we started to write new songs, and it was cool, they even told me that I was back in the band and to send a press release about it. I didn’t want to say anything until I had an agreement, a contract in writing on what is going to happen and they send this ridiculous proposal which pretty much said ‘You’re not going to get paid until the touring’, so basically I was going to be working on the new record for free, but then I had intended on leaning towards that anyway and then I thought to myself I’m not going to break, I’m not going to sell myself short for something that is going to be huge you know. They gotta realize the longevity it, and then the whole thing just became silly, I didn’t even get a chance to negotiate about anything, they just cut it off and said ‘that’s it’ and afterwards I couldn’t get hold of Dave or anybody, he blocked my emails’
We had a meeting at NAMM, the four of us got together with our old manager Ron Laffitte and started talking about touring plans and another record, Marty didn’t say whether he was in the band or not, but I certainly was up for it and yeah, it all just took a turn for the worse.
I was ready to be apart of it, I guess it just wasn’t meant to be. I know Chris Adler will do a great job in the studio, but who will do these songs live? The reason why I refused to join Megadeth is because Dave [Mustaine] didn’t show me any kind of ‘love’ at all, I wish I was doing it, but they didn’t want to show me any contract in writing or anything, I guess it was just not meant to be.
I still love to jam to Megadeth songs, my favorite thing to do is put on YouTube and jam out to new bands, I really love bands like Meshuggah, Gojira, Lamb Of God and heavily into lots prog metal.
Nick reflecting back on his favorite Megadeth tracks and albums “I liked them all pretty much, I just stopped listening to them after Cryptic Writings because it all started to sound too generic, just because they started doing stuff on the computer and not playing live as a band playing live together. Youthanasia was the last studio album we did, all playing together tracking the songs. The reason why Rust In Peace was such a rad album is because there is no click track on that record, Dave, Junior and myself rehearsed those songs for over a year, before Marty even joined the band, and Marty didn’t play much rhythm on the album, Dave did all the the rhythm and Marty just did the leads‘ we were almost to the point where we going to burn out on the songs because we played them so much, we had a demo of the album and then a couple months later we did the whole album, so by then everybody knew their parts and then we went over on Countdown to Extinction that went to digital, and started over-dubbing stuff’ I remember my first gig was really nerving and trying to keep it together and pace myself, I was really blown out after the first two songs, it took me awhile to get to last an hour and 45 minutes. It’s been awhile since I’ve played anything exhilarating like that for two hours.
Menza, on new band: right now we are just going to focus on getting a good singer, and focus on writing some cool timeless music, and we’re going to write some high energy stuff that is just undeniable. We’re working with producer Max Norman, in the studio. Chris is on a break right now as he is going to have surgery on his hand, but we’re definitely going to put this out.
We are working on a couple new guitar players. Rusty Cooley is totally in to it, but I’m going to leave that up to Chris to decide as he is the other guitar player, so it’s up to him and has to be somebody he wants to work with. I don’t no if Rusty is going do the entire record with us or not, but he is going to do something with us, and I definitely want to do something with him.
Menza, on style and sound: I was a fan of Megadeth even before I joined the band, Gar Samuelson was a huge influence on me, my Dad was a Jazz musician too. So, as for the sound of course it will be Megadeth esque, cause that’s our roots, but it’s going to have our own style in there too.
Dave [Mustaine] and co, have yet to report if current session drummer [Chris Adler] of Lamb of God will tour live on the up and coming Megadeth studio album. Regarding Menza’s current situation with Megadeth, an indefinite ‘no’ has not yet been suggested whether or not Menza’s return to live touring will be a possibility for the future.
Thrash giants MEGADETH have launched a pledge campaign for their next album. The band state via pledgemusic.com that the physical album products will not be fulfilled until on or around the street date. The estimated fulfillment date of non-album items/experiences: July 2015.
“Megadeth has entered the studio to begin recording their 15th album and the band wants to bring you along for the ride.
