Finnish power metallers METAL DE FACTO are sharing their new video ‘Bacchanalia‘, taken from their debut album ‘Imperium Romanum‘ released in November 2019 via Rockshots Records.

The band comments about the song: “The Romans knew big time how important entertainment and life’s pleasures were to combat day-to-day stress and worries. One such ritual was the Bacchanalia (“feast of Bacchus”), an extravagant Roman party including excessive drinking, food, orgies and fun in worship of the God of wine, fertility and harvest, Bacchus! We know how boring, stressful and frustrating the current home quarantine/social distancing life can be, and we know many of our fans haven’t enjoyed a good metal show for some time now. Therefore in true Finnish “kalsarikännit” fashion (yes, we actually have a word for getting drunk and partying alone in your underwear at home) we are bringing the song back with a single release including an instrumental version, an exclusive karaoke version to enjoy at home (both in audio and video format), as well as a brand new music video with some epic footage from our first show ever in February! Take a journey back in time with us to that fun evening, sing along and don’t forget to party hard!”

The album was recorded, mixed and mastered at Goodman Studios and Tadaa Music Studio by Esa Orjatsalo. The artwork was created by the renowned Hungarian artist Gyula Havancsák (Blind Guardian’s Twilight Orchestra, Stratovarius, Accept, Grave Digger, Powerwolf and many more). The album also features a spoken word part by Maurizio Iacono (Kataklysm, Ex-Deo) in the last song ‘Germanicus’.

Finnish power metallers METAL DE FACTO have finally unleashed their debut album ‘Imperium Romanum’ via Rockshots Records! 

To celebrate the event, the band has also released the lyric video of ‘Legionnaires’ Oath‘, available here:

Singer Mikael Salo and bass player Sami Hinkka comment about the song: “‘Legionnaires’ Oath’ talks about the legionnaires, heavy infantrymen of the Roman army who were revered as some of the most feared warriors at the time. It delves into the mindset of these soldiers, and the oath that they took to serve Rome for at least 25 years, the loyalty and the mental fortitude it required. Musically, ‘Legionnaires’ Oath’ hoasts a powerful pounding drum beat paired with a commanding lead guitar melody. The chorus then explodes to an epic choir that speaks of military might and conquest, both sorrowful yet glorious!”

The line-up was soon completed with Atte Marttinen (ex-Kivimetsän Druidi), Benji Connelly (Everfrost), Mikko Salovaara (Leverage) and Mikael Salo (Everfrost). The band promises to “Make Power Metal Great Again” with their powerful sound and epic concepts, ones that deal with different historical themes and mythologies.

The idea was that every album would have a theme based on a certain country’s / culture’s history and mythology. The debut album will deal with the Roman Empire and the many tales, true stories and philosophies associated with it. Each song is about a different aspect of this grand topic, and while being enjoyable as escapist storytelling in itself, also delves into the mindset of the different characters and people from whose perspectives the songs are written.

Finnish power metal band METAL DE FACTO has just unleashed their lyric video for “The Ascending Of Jupiter“,  the latest single from their upcoming debut album ‘Imperium Romanum‘ due for worldwide release on November 22nd in Europe and December 13th in North America via Rockshots Records.

Singer Mikael Salo and bass player Sami Hinkka comment about the song: “‘The Ascending Of Jupiter’ is about the mighty Roman thunder god.  Besides writing about the mythology behind Jupiter, we also wanted to explore how gods influenced the life of the average Roman citizens. Musically, we wanted to combine the blistering speed and soaring melodies of power metal, to the pounding strength and visciousness of traditional heavy metal! The video was made by Jouni Valjakka who is also known from the band Whispered. We’re big fans of Jouni’s video work, and knew that no one else could capture the thunderous flight through the heavens which the song and its theme require quite like him!”

Finnish power metal band METAL DE FACTO will release their debut album, Imperium Romanum, on November 22 via Rockshots Records.

The first single from the album, “The Conqueror”, is now available via all major digital stores, and the official video clip is can be viewed below.

Bass player Sami Hinkka, also of the band Ensiferum,comments, “‘The Conqueror’ is the opening track of the album and it tells about the founding myth of Rome. But instead of once again just telling the legend of the brothers Romulus and Remus, we played around with the idea of what Romulus thought after he killed his brother. And even though he saw the glory of Rome, could it have been even greater if they both would’ve still been there to rule together? Musically the song is exactly what we had in our minds when MDF was founded: ass-kicking power/heavy metal with fast pace, powerful vocals, catchy chorus, mind-blowing solos.”

Rockshots Records is proud to announce their latest signing of Finland’s METAL DE FACTO for the release of their debut album “Imperium Romanum” later this year.

The band was formed in late 2017 by Esa Orjatsalo (ex-Dreamtale) and Sami Hinkka (Ensiferum), who had met and discussed the deeper meanings of power metal in Ensiferum’s tour bus. The line-up was soon completed with Atte Marttinen (ex-Kivimetsän Druidi), Benji Connelly (Everfrost), Mikko Salovaara (Leverage) and Mikael Salo (Everfrost). The band promises to “Make Power Metal Great Again” with their powerful sound and epic concepts, ones that deal with different historical themes and mythologies.

Guitarist and founder Esa Orjatsalo states: “As our band name states, it is pure heavy metal music just as we like it, it means that it is time to ‘Make Power Metal Great Again’! That is what METAL DE FACTO is all about. “Imperium Romanum” is an album made by a huge power metal fan for other power metal fans. We didn’t want to reinvent the wheel just for the sake of it, but we definitely also brought some fresh perspective into the songwriting. If I would hear this album when I was young, I would have been really excited!”
