Following the review of Progressive Power Metal band Opening Scenery’s “Mystic Alchemy” album, I took the opportunity to speak with the guitarist Vincenzo Frascà a little more about the band, the music, and everything else in-between.

Can you tell me a little about yourselves and where this all started?

Everything has been started in 2002 when me and Mattia (Rubino – Drums) decided to form the band cause they wanted to write and play good music with more than an eye on the progressive metal scene. So it takes a while to find out the right persons and musicians but pretty soon we began to write our own music.
The meeting with Alessio Lucatti (Keyboard player of Vision Divine) was for us a very lucky happening ‘cause immediately after he offered us the chance to record with him all the tons of notes we wrote, it was back in 2010. I have to admit that without the support of our record label ‘Underground Symphony’ our dream couldn’t see the light helping us to working with another great singer: Fabio Lione (Rhapsody of Fire) who sang guest vocal parts on the album.

I hear multiple influences from your music, but where would you say your main source of influence lies?

Uhm, not so easy to say!!! Well, I can tell you that we try always to write something which could be musically interesting, very particular trying not to play tons of non-sense notes which could only be boring for the fans.

The Album is cram packed full of little intricacies, but how did you decide on this layout? And what we’re you thinking prior to creating it?

Yes, it’s true. We are happy you have noticed it, we decided for it because we wanted something different from all the bands you can see nowadays, letting us have an original trademark at the same time.

Do you have any plans for a new album?

Yes, playing is always so funny that we create always new music. We are planning to create a new album pretty soon; we are trying to write music a little bit with more progressive and trashy influences.

How would you best describe your music?

Our music is the balance between melody, power and instrumental parts we try to combine together with more than an eye on the musical performance. We try to do our best to write music / songs which could be enjoyable for all the people who listen to us, we hope they could appreciate!

What would say are the main features that make your music stand out from the rest?

It’s very hard to say……we think and hope that the listeners could be impressed by the power voice of our singer ‘Andrea Racco’ as his voice sounds different from the other one used on this kind of genre.

Do you have any upcoming Gigs, Tours, or Shows?

Unfortunately at the moment we don’t have any upcoming plannings but now we are working with an agent called ‘Rockshots Music Management & Promotion’ with whom we are scheduling future and interesting projects yet to be announced!
