Italian ex-parody metal outfit NANOWAR OF STEEL, formerly known for viral hits such as “Valhallelujah” and “Uranus”, has recently announced its retirement from their multi-faceted, comedic power metal sound, to pursue its newly found love for emotional pop music. Today, they reveal a first taste of what they have been cooking up!
NANOWAR OF STEEL don’t shy away from reinventing themselves on this stripped down, slow-tempo ballad: With stirring piano chords and tender female guest vocals, “Formia” will get you teared up!
Singer/Bassist Gatto Panceri 666 from NANOWAR OF STEEL says about “Formia”:
„Just like life itself, emerged from the sea and gradually moved to the earth, we are symbolically from the shores of Formia to the dry land on the Italian peninsula with new life and new music. We are the amphibious species of music: we are metal but pop at the same time. So, unless you are a creationist, join us and enjoy the evolution of NANOWAR OF STEEL.”
Italy’s finest, NANOWAR OF STEEL – famous for their beloved metal parodies and cheeky hit songs such as “Valhallelujah” and “Uranus” – have turned to their fans and supporters on social media today in a new, heartfelt and honest statement about the band’s current situation. After gathering millions of clicks on YouTube and Spotify, as well as just recently re-releasing their popular 2018 album Stairway To Valhalla, the band will be undergoing a major stylistic shift and a new musical direction.
Watch the teaser NANOWAR OF STEEL’s new upcoming music HERE:
NANOWAR OF STEEL states:
“We’re getting close to the 40 years old threshold and after so many years in the music industry we have to face the fact that – despite the growth we experienced in the last years and an important record deal with Napalm Records – metal and heavy music in general cannot give us the kind of financial sustainability our lives require at this stage. If you follow us on social media, you should already be aware of the fact that we have announced a radical change of direction our music will take. We can now state that this change means our new style will be considerably lighter and oriented towards a broader audience. We’re sorry to put this in these terms – which might sound way too cold and materialistic – but we want to make things clear before our fans and all those who, in the last years, supported us for what we were, a parody METAL band. (…) With our new music, new projects and new energy we are aiming at climbing the charts, going to Sanremo, join the Eurovision and – first and foremost – conquer the hearts of those who do not know the band we’re mocking when we sing ‘By sunlight we ride, ten thousand side by side’.”

After gathering millions of clicks on YouTube and Spotify, Italy’s finest up-and-coming comedy metal outfit NANOWAR OF STEEL will re-release their previously sold out 2018 album, Stairway To Valhalla, with an exclusive first ever vinyl re-issue via Napalm Records this upcoming Friday, December 4, 2020!
To celebrate Stairway to Valhalla’s re-release, NANOWAR OF STEEL have revealed the music video for their Power Metal anthem “In The Sky”, where they go on a mission to seek their way into, well… the sky!
NANOWAR OF STEEL’s bassist Gatto Panceri 666 states:
“‘In The Sky’ is the first video about the sky actually being recorded in the sky while at the same time not being in the sky. Potowotominimak, Mr. Baffo and some fans – the winners of the IN THE SKY Nanowar challenge last year – were lucky enough to be in the sky while not being in the sky thanks to the sophisticated technology of FlyX.
The video was shot in Cinecitta’ World, an amusement park in the outskirts of Rome which let us organize a special event, that included a tour of the park guided by Nanowar Of Steel as well as a concert in the evening.
We also would like to remind everyone that to be in the sky is better than not to be in the sky.“

Kings of masterful heavy metal parodies NANOWAR OF STEEL bless the world with yet another spectacular music video for their new single “Uranus”, featuring none other than glam icon Michael Starr of the legendary STEEL PANTHER! Showing off their incredible choreography skills in shiny space suits, NANOWAR OF STEEL dance their way straight into your heart – and Uranus!
Michael Starr (STEEL PANTHER) says about the video for “Uranus”: “This video will make your penis bigger with one view. The more times you view it, the bigger your penis will get. You’re welcome. ‘Uranus’ is a must watch video. It’s the only way to have your first eye orgasms. A fun video with a great story line. If you don’t like this song you must be deaf. If you don’t like this video you must be blind.”
Gatto Panceri 666 of NANOWAR OF STEEL adds about the video for “Uranus”: “I know, this joke has been used and abused since 1781, from the very first day William Herschel discovered this planet. However, being a practicing astronomer and a professional idiot, I felt I had more right to use it as the subject of a song to be dignified with a Lady Gaga-level video (in all humbleness). Perhaps it won’t be the most original pun ever, but one thing we can tell you for sure: this joke turned out to be the most expensive one we’ve ever told so far!”

NANOWAR OF STEEL are well known for perfectly fitting songwriting for every occasion, so it appears more than obvious that their new single “Sneeztem of a Yawn” is just the right song to accompany every metal fan through these difficult times – with a little dose of humor of course!
The full power of metal riffs blasts from the very first minute while the intense lyrics of the insanely catchy chorus turn the song into an epic masterpiece that will never ever leave your head again. It doesn’t need many words, as coughing and sneezing makes “Sneeztem of a Yawn” another hypnotizing hit anthem created by NANOWAR OF STEEL!
NANOWAR OF STEEL on “Sneeztem of a Yawn”: “This video embodies the essence of the COVID19-induced lockdown, both in its visual and lyrical aspects. While our mental conditions were deteriorating – as if they were not critical enough already – due to the restrictive isolation measures, we chose to escape and find a way out through music. We could not just sit down, sever our ties with the outside world and wait for electronic appliances to become our best friends. We had to react and express our pain through art.
This time, for the first time, we chose to keep our lyrics devoid of jokes and puns, and tried to deliver a text that conveys to our listener the feelings of hollowness, boredom, sickness and uneasiness we’ve been enduring universal manner, with words that everyone can understand and identify with. This required an exceptional poetic effort from our side, which we hope our listeners can appreciate and understand. Warning: this video contains disturbing images of our alienating daily routine.”
