Paris-via-Montreal rockers No Place For Heroes just released a new experimental track, streaming online at this location:

The song is a double collaboration, showcasing FdubX, a French electronic musician, as well as SelfB, a rapper that spent part of his career based in New York City, the whole over NPFH’s heavy guitars.

“We wanted to step outside the clichés of metal,” explains NPFH guitarist/vocalist Will Maurer. “We’re happy to showcase our willingness to mix genres, as this is in our opinion the future of music!”

NPFH transplanted themselves to Montreal from Paris in 2011 after several high-profile performances in Europe, alongside major international acts such as Down, Scorpions and Skunk Anansie. They have since released their debut self-titled album, produced a music video for the song “Surrender” and played several important gigs, including co-headlining Montreal’s Club Soda. The band is working on a second album, from which the new single “Girls Want Bad Boys”, is set for release in summer 2012.

Built for the stage, NPFH presents a dynamite cocktail of sounds, combining the heaviness of rock, the power of metal as well as a hint of progressive, all supported by an over-the-top theatrical stage presentation. Fans of the riffs of Rage Against The Machine and The Deftones, the energy of the Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age, and the presence of Tool and System Of A Down will definitely find music for them in NPFH.

Haunting mid-tempos chasing up a heavy beat with bass driven insanity on the first intro of ‘Ready to Fall’ is quite exciting to say the least. With the high speed picking and wah effects this song musically is extraordinary, add to that then the vocal passages between the growling and chorus based gentler ranges and you have so many great elements and modulations going on here. With the body moving tempos and beats you get through the tracks you are always going for a good ride with this.

As you enter ‘Surrender’ with the magnificent vocals and ambient textures leading your mind into a false sense of security with the warm phrasing and obscure hypnotising features it’s very easy to mistake this band for something other than what they actually are. Pure brilliance and richness is shown throughout this track without the need for ridiculousness.

As you go through the music, it not only gets heavier, but technically… better! With strong guitar techniques and drums to destroy the “Average” experience this is fantastic to hear. The vocals constantly changing from ambient dreamscapes like that in ‘Sound Disease’ and ‘The Unit’.

From Funky bass lines to heavy guitars and hypnotising vocals which are all being chased by the most obscure drums and effects to keep you on this crazy road. This album is far more than you could expect!

Paris-via-Montreal metallic rockers No Place For Heroes are currently offering their entire debut album for free download via their Facebook page.

Fans of the riffs of Rage Against The Machine and The Deftones, the energy of the Foo Fighters and Queens Of The Stone Age, and the presence of Tool and System Of A Down will definitely find music for them in NPFH. Built for the stage, this ensemble presents a dynamite cocktail of sounds, combining the heaviness of rock, the power of metal as well as a hint of progressive, all supported by an over-the-top theatrical stage presentation.

A music video for “Surrender”, the first single off the band’s album, can be viewed below.
