āāWeāre in This Togetherā sounds like a love song colliding with a war cry,ā says frontman Jonny Hawkins. āAlan Watts [the British American writer and orator] once said that āyou are the universe experiencing itselfāāand this song embodies that truth. Itās us against the world, and this song is my inner monologue.ā
The bandās guitarist Mark Vollelunga elaborates. āThis song is from my favorite Nine Inch Nailsā album, The Fragile, and by far one of my favorite NIN songs. Itās such a beautiful cataclysm. Essentially, itās a love song, but as I dove deeper, my interpretation shifted to it being about my relationship to my personal demons and mental trauma. Itās about making peace with those monsters and accepting who and what they are while realizing they will always be a part of me,ā he adds. āIt took a long time to achieve that cathartic clarity in regard to the very real nature of that evilās presence. We actually started recording the song 11 years ago, and itās just been lying in wait until recently. I was upset we hadnāt released it earlier, but I now believe its relevance and timing couldnāt be more immaculate.ā
The standalone track āWeāre in This Togetherā followsĀ NOTHING MOREās most recent single/videoĀ āEXISTENTIAL DREAD,āĀ which marks the fifth release from their 2024 album,Ā CARNAL. The album has notably spawned four back-to-back #1 rock singlesāāIf It Doesnāt Hurt,āĀ āANGEL SONG (featuring David Draiman),āĀ āHOUSE ON SANDā (featuring Eric Vanlerberghe),āĀ andĀ āFREEFALLā (featuring Chris Daughtry)āon theĀ BillboardĀ Mainstream Rock Airplayā andĀ MediabaseĀ āActive Rockā charts and amassedĀ 193.5 million global streams. With this chart distinction, the band joins a special group of artists including Metallica, Linkin Park, Five Finger Death Punch, Papa Roach, and Falling In Reverse whoāve achieved the same honor.
A deluxe edition of CARNAL was released this past March and is also available on CD and vinyl. Five bonus tracks on CARNAL (DELUXE) include a new version of the bracing āFREEFALL,ā featuring 6x Platinum-certified rock artist Chris Daughtry, and a live version of āANGEL SONG.ā The latter track was recorded at the bandās set at Aftershock Festival 2024 where NOTHING MORE was joined onstage by guest vocalist David Draiman.
