Victory Records has issued that the Swedish rockers, SISTER SIN have released a music video for the high energy-fueled track, “Fight Song” from their newest release, Now and Forever. Powerhouse frontwoman Liv Jagrell delivers an absolute TKO performance, providing the ultimate soundtrack for showing the world exactly what you’re made of. SISTER SIN show how merciless they can be as Jagrell reminds her enemies, “God forgives – I don’t.
Victory Records has announced that the Swedish heavy metal rockers SISTER SIN have released an exciting new music video for “Hearts of Cold”, the second single from their recent album Now and Forever (10/22/12). Front woman Liv Jagrell goes balls to the wall and showcases her superb acting skills. Watch the video below, premiered by VEVO.
Directed by Eric Richter in Chicago, Illinois, the video packs a ferocious punch in a span of four minutes and sixteen seconds that will have your adrenaline rushing with your fist held high. The song is loosely based on characters Mikey and Mallory from the 1994 movie Natural Born Killers and mirrors the Finnish, real life version of them; Juha Veikko Valjakkala and Marita Routalammi, who crossed the border over to Sweden and killed a family of three.
SISTER SIN’s recent release, Now and Forever, debuted at #6 on the Hard Rock chart in Sweden and #44 on the National Album chart; their highest debut yet. Mixed by Cameron Webb (Motörhead, Danzig, Social Distortion) the album electrifies audiences with Jagrell’s gritty rock vocals, gut splitting riffs and fiery melodies that truly capture the vibe of the eighties. SISTER SIN strives to preserve the past and add their own modern twist on classic hair metal as they carry the rock ‘n roll torch into the future bringing metal to the masses. Now and Forever is available on the Victory Records’ webstore and through iTunes/Amazon.
The countdown has begun for SISTER SIN’s much-anticipated North American takeover, where they will be taking no prisoners. Starting in Tampa, Florida on February 1st, SISTER SIN will pummel through nineteen cities alongside metal legend DORO before beginning a series of headlining dates that will take them through Tampa, Toronto, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia and more. Fans can expect to be blown away with the bands high energy, intense and powerful stage performance. Following their time in North America they will travel to the UK to perform at Hammerfest and additional headlining shows. See a full listing of tour dates here.
Dave the drummer from Swedish metallers Sister Sin took time out of his busy schedule to talk to Metal Shock Finland about their new album & video and here is what he had to say.
Hello, I’m David, Welcome to MSFinland!
Thank You! I’m also David or Dave as some say across the pond.
Which bands would you say inspired or influenced you?
As far as the music I’d say W.A.S.P.Accept, Judas Priest, and Twisted Sister etc. When it comes to the lyrics I listen to a lot of Hardcore stuff, the British style like Doom, Extreme Noise Terror and tons Swedish likes like Disfear, Driller Killer and Wolfbrigade who have a lot meatier & heavier tone to say the least.
What has been your most memorable show or moment?
I guess it would be opening for Motörhead in Milwaukee in 2009. Two days before we just got off the worst tour we’ve ever been on, everything that could go wrong or happen happened. So we were all kind of low, tired & wanted to go home but we had these two Motorhead shows scheduled and it really made up for the whole U.S tour. We didn’t know what to expect since we’ve heard that the Motorhead crowds could be pretty tough on openers. But it was fantastic, crowd was awesome, band & crew awesome & we got to meet Lemmy which was a dream come true for sure since we’re all huge fans!
What kind of set will you be playing on you’re up coming tour?
We’ll be doing a lot of songs from “Now and Forever” of course and basically the singles from “Switchblade…” and “True Sound” But I think we’ll have almost 20 songs rehearsed so we can change it up a bit from time to time.
If there was any festival in the world that you could play at, which one and where would it be?
There’s two actually and we just confirmed one of them. Can’t tell you which just yet but keep an eye open! Then there’s Wacken Open Air. Heard so many great things about that festival so it would be really cool if we got on there for next summer!
Your Video “End Of The Line” has had over a 100,000 views on you tube did you think it would go down so well with the fans?
You never know. We released the track as single a couple of weeks earlier and the response to that had been fantastic so I guess we had kind of high expectation. Its over 200,000 views now in a couple weeks so certainly didn’t think it would go down that well so we’re all really happy about it!
You have a new album out can you tell me about it?
It’s called “Now and Forever”, our third full-length album. Bands always say this but for me, its hands down our best achievement to date. It’s gritty, heavy, fat hooks & choruses and Liv is screaming her lungs out as always. I guess it’s our most diverse album as well as you can find influences ranging from Trash to NWOBHM. Also has our first ever ballad on it.
Technically how does this album differ to your last album?
Quite a bit; we talked about this early on before starting writing that we wanted to keep the basic concept from “True Sound of the Underground” but stir it up without losing our signature sound. So this time we focused a lot on different vocal arrangements, different keys & tuning plus adding various elements like strings etc. something we’ve never done before.
What can you tell us about the lyrics to the album and what influenced them?
Like I mentioned earlier, I listen to a lot of hardcore stuff so I like that rebellion theme. I’ve always been a punk head and although people often compare us to Motley Crue and other hairbands, we’ve never been about that lyric wise. I guess it’s kinda dark, at least darker than the previous two. “End of The Line” is a tweak regarding religious fanatics; “Morning After” is a straight up suicide letter. “Hearts of Cold” is loosely based on Juha Veikko Valjakkala& Marita Routalammi, which I guess you’re probably familiar with.
The album has been out for just over a week now how has the response been for it?
It has really been overwhelming! The reviews have been awesome; we’ve made our best first week sales in the U.S and the album landed at #6 on the Swedish Rock/Metal Charts so we’re really excited about getting on the road and tour for this one!
What is your track of the moment, the song you have to keep on playing?
This might sound retarded but I was watching a Swedish television show where they follow different artists around in each episode. About a week ago the program featured a band called First Aid Kit, which is two young girls with fantastic voices doing this country vibe stuff. Apparently they’re pretty big but I’ve never heard of them before. Anyhow, they performed, just the two of them with an acoustic guitar, a song called “Emmylou” and it was awesome! Can’t stop listening to it, haha. It’s weird because it’s nothing like what I usually listen to but I’m hooked.
You are on the bill for Hammerfest 5 next year how did that come about?
Don’t know really. We got an offer though our agent and we confirmed. We are very excited though.
Are you looking forward to playing Hammerfest 5?
Yeah, definitely! It’s been awhile since we’ve been to the U.K so we’re gonna add some headline dates over there around the festival as well.
Thanks for the interview are there any last words that you like pass on to our readers and your fans?
“Now and Forever” Get it, get into it or get out! See you all soon our Finnish friends!
Cheers

In a recent interview with Loudwire, SISTER SIN frontwoman Liv Jagrell stated about the track, “It’s a really good first single, I think, because the whole album is in that style. It shows a different side of SISTER SIN because we actually have some keyboards in this song and on some of the other songs, too, and we worked both on the dynamics and on the melodies in a [different] way than the previous album.”
She added, “On this album and on that song, we thought a little bit out of the box and experimented and tried to go out of what our comfort zone is. I think it turned out really good. I’m happy with the album and that song.”
Regarding the song’s the lyrics, Jagrell said, “It’s about the kinds of scams, political and religious scams and people everywhere trying to tell us the world is going to end but we really just want to try to live today and not to live for tomorrow or for things that might happen. It’s satirical a little bit towards all of those people trying to say what we should do and not do.”
Asked what the album title “Now And Forever” means to her, Liv said, “The title ‘Now And Forever’ is kind of a statement for us as a band. As a band and as individuals, we have been through quite a lot of things, a lot of troubles and things that might break up bands but we’re so dedicated to this band. So that’s the title — we are here now and hopefully forever. We won’t give up even if something goes wrong — it’s tough to be in the music business today.”
“End Of The Line” was released on August 7 via all digital platforms worldwide.

SISTER SIN has been extremely successful in Europe, and with the help of Victory Records, they were able to bring their signature sound to the US. “Our drummer was looking at MTV one day,” explains Liv, “And there was a video with a hardcore band. He thought, ‘If this band could make such a high place on the US video list, why couldn’t we?’ He checked out the record label, and it was Victory. So he sent an E-mail, and Victory answered within an hour, saying they were interested. It was quite a surprise.” SISTER SIN signed with Victory in the summer of 2008, and released their debut, Switchblade Serenades, shortly after. Over the past year, SISTER SIN has completed two full US tours and played over 100 shows, including dates with MOTORHEAD, ILL NINO, AND FASTER PUSSYCAT. They were also graced with the honour of playing at the Swedish Rock Festival, which Liv described as a “dream come true.”
New album “NOW AND FOREVER” is out on October 19th in Europe and October 22nd rest of the world!
The album starts of with MMXII the song starts off with some I think quite calming sounds then it starts to pick up pace a bit then the song goes straight into the Second song called End Of The Line which is full of fast high energy. The vocals are outstanding as the first full song on the album it is a great start. The Third and Fourth songs on the album is Fight Song and In It For Life the Fight Song is a high energy song it doe’s have a few explicit lyrics in it but wow doe’s it get your head banging from beginning to end. In It For Life again is a high intensity song full of good vocals, head banging guitar work and hard hitting drumbeats. The Fifth song is Hearts Of Cold starts off with a little riff then bursts into action with a cracking little solo before the vocals kick in with a vengeance. The guitar work is just out of this world this is a great song to rock out to it is full of stunning vocals, guitar riff’s and solo’s and pounding drumbeats. The sixth and seventh songs are Chosen Few and Hang ‘Em High the song Chosen Few starts off with the words give it up for the Chosen Few being sung then the guitars kick with a great riff and the drums coming in behind them. The vocals are superb they just flow perfectly with the music near the end of the song it has a stunning little guitar solo. The song Hang ‘Em High the song goes straight into a cracking riff then the vocals come quickly behind at a very high intensity pace which gets my head banging straight away. The song has some great riffs and solo’s in it has a catchy little end to the song just perfect. The Eighth song is I’m Not You starts off with a little riff which continues for a few bars in the intro then it has a galloping like riff while the vocals come through stunningly. The song is full of quality riffs, vocals and solos. The Ninth and Tenth songs are Running Low and Shades Of Black, the song Running Low starts of with a few drumbeats the kick into life with a cracking riff then the vocals come in full of passion, the guitar work is outstanding on this song. Shades Of Black starts off with another cracking riff then the tempo slow down a touch for a few bars then the vocals come in then it quickens a little bit, but keeping the same intensity in the song which has been perfectly done. The last song on the album is Morning After starts with a piano which is a bit different to the rest of the album but some how it fits perfectly and make a real change. The vocals are soft and purposeful the song itself is very good then halfway through it bursts into life with a stunning piece of guitar work but keeping the piano and guitars combing together is exceptional. This for me this is probably my favourite song on the album I have a soft spot in my heart for this type of song. It is an emotional song that is worthy of ending any album. Just top quality in my eyes!
Overall
This album was full of quality vocals, stunning riff’s and solos and the drums was outstanding. I am very partial to female vocalists and again this band proves to me that there are some great female fronted bands out their and these are one of them. You can have the Nightwish’s, Within Temptations and Lacuna Coils but Sister Sin in my eyes are just as good as these bands just from this album alone I think they will hit the big time I am confident of that. I know that they have been confirmed for Hammerfest 5 next year and I cannot wait to see them live they are going to rip us a new one I can assure you of that. If have never heard of Sister Sin you are missing out I would go and buy it now it is that damn good.
10/10
